Fatal Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – One person is deceased following a single-vehicle collision in Haldimand County.

On June 5, 2024, at approximately 10:40 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle in the creek that runs along North Shore Drive, Dunnville.

Members of Haldimand OPP, Haldimand County Fire Services and Paramedic Services responded. The vehicle and driver were located, and an individual was located unresponsive in the water.

A 69-year-old from Lowbanks was transported to hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.

The Haldimand OPP continues to investigate the collision, along with members of the Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team.

North Shore Drive was closed for several hours but has since re-opened.

Scott LASHER Was Arrested

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On April 15, 2024, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an erratic driver on New Credit Road, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.

The investigation determined that a single vehicle collision had occurred, and the driver left the scene.

The vehicle was located a short time later and upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent they had consumed alcohol. The individual was taken into custody and transported to the OPP detachment for testing.

As a result, 63-year-old Scott LASHER of Niagara Falls was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive While Under Suspension

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on May 28, 2024.

Fatal Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) -A single vehicle collision has claimed the life of one individual.

On April 6, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., members from the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with assistance from Haldimand County Fire Services of Caledonia, as well as Haldimand County Paramedic Services, responded to a single vehicle collision at the intersection of Argyle Street and Highway 6, Caledonia

The investigation determined that a sedan was involved in a collision, and the driver was ejected.

As a result, a 28-year-old from Caledonia was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Road closures are in effect at Argyle Street and Braemar Drive, and Highway 6 between Greens Road and Fifth Line and are expected to remain closed for the next several hours.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team is assisting with the investigation.

Tyler BROSSEAU – Drunk Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – A single vehicle collision resulted in impaired charges on the weekend.

On April 6, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision on Concession 4, Walpole.

The investigation determined that a vehicle left the roadway with the driver sustaining minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Tyler BROSSEAU, 31-years-old of Port Dover has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·      Operation While Impaired

·      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on May 28, 2024.

One Dead During Violent Break & Enter – Suspects At Large

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On March 13, 2024, at approximately 11:10 a.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of animal cruelty at a Haldimand Road 20, Fisherville address.

The investigation determined that two unknown people attended the property between 3:00 a.m. – 3:30 a.m. that morning and caused damage to a fence to gain access to a closed animal pen.

Once inside, an emu was injured by an unknown means, causing death to the animal and the two unknown individuals fled the area.

Video surveillance is being reviewed in hopes to identify the persons responsible.

Causing unnecessary suffering to an animal is a criminal offence that carries a penalty of up to 5 years in jail upon conviction.

Hit & Run – Colin MCGILLIVRAY Arrested For Drunk Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) On February 24, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., members of Haldimand County OPP received a report of a two-vehicle collision involving a sedan and a parked Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), on Lakeshore Road, Selkirk.

The driver of the sedan fled the scene on foot and was located a short distance away. 

The individual was displaying signs of impairment and was placed under arrest and transported to the OPP detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, 54-year-old Colin MCGILLIVRAY of Cayuga was charged with the following Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Alcohol Readily Available
  • Fail to Remain
  • Fail to Report Accident
  • Fail to Notify Change of Name
  • Use Plate Not Authorized

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on March 26, 2024.

Edward AMME – Drunk Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – Two arrests were made, and impaired charges were laid over the weekend in Haldimand County.

On February 23, 2024, at approximately 12:35 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an erratic driver on Main Street in Dunnville.

The vehicle was located and upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent they had consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered, and the individual was taken into custody and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result, 64-year-old Edward AMME of Dunnville was charged with the Criminal Code offence of Operation While Impaired.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on March 12, 2024.

Fatal Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY) – One person is deceased following an early-morning single vehicle collision in Haldimand County.

On February 25, 2024, at approximately 2:10 a.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle that had left the roadway and rolled over on Highway 3 between Cheapside Road and East Concession 7.

One person was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The road is closed at the crash location to facilitate the investigation.

Haldimand County Paramedic Services and the Haldimand County Fire Department assisted with the response.
