Michael MCNEELANDS Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On May 21, 2025, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an intoxicated person walking on Mississauga Avenue in Elliot Lake. 

At approximately 5:00 p.m. police were called by numerous people on Mississauga Avenue, stating there was an intoxicated male causing a disturbance on the street and interfering with traffic. The male was spoken to who was displaying the obvious signs of drug impairment. He was also very uncooperative and confrontational with police. After a short confrontation, the male was safely arrested and removed form the area. 

Michael MCNEELANDS, 42-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

·      Resist peace officer

·      Causing a disturbance

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on July 10, 2025.

Stabbing Update – 3rd Person Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On May 12, 2025, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a third person pertaining to the altercation in Elliot Lake.

On May 9, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m. police were called to assist paramedics with a male in medical distress in a wooded area between Tokyo Crescent and Paris Drive.  The male was transported to hospital with knife wounds and remains in stable condition. An altercation took place at a Tokyo Crescent residence between numerous people which later resulted in one of the males being assaulted with a knife. 

On May 11, 2025, two people were arrested and charged with aggravated assault.  

On May 12, 2025, police located and arrested the third person involved.

Michael PREVOST, 35-years-old, of Elliot Lake, was also charged with – Aggravated Assault.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on May 13, 2025.

2 Arrested Following Stabbing

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On May 11, 2025, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested two people after an altercation in Elliot Lake.

On May 9, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m. police were called to assist paramedics with a male in medical distress in a wooded area between Tokyo Crescent and Paris Drive.  The male was transported to hospital with knife wounds and remains in stable condition. An altercation took place at a Tokyo Crescent residence between numerous people which later resulted in one of the males being assaulted with a knife. 

Jordan VINTINNER, 35-years-old, of Elliot Lake, was charged with – Aggravated assault.

William VINTINNER, 34-years-old, of Elliot Lake, was charged with – Aggravated assault.

The accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on May 12, 2025. 

The OPP’s Forensic Identification Service (FIS), Canine Unit, Emergency Response Team (ERT) and East Algoma Crime Unit continue the investigation.

Kayla WALSH – Drunk Driving

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – A person was charged after police conducted a vehicle stop on Taylor Boulevard in Elliot Lake.

On April 29, 2025, at approximately 1:45 a.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a small silver car and spoke to the driver. An odour of alcoholic beverage was emanating from the driver’s breath and they displayed signs of alcohol impairment. Police also located an unsealed bottle of liquor which was accessible to the driver. After a subsequent roadside test was completed, the driver was arrested and the vehicle was towed and impounded.

Kayla WALSH, 30-years-old, from Sudbury was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on June 12, 2025.

David Jack (DJ) WILLETT Was Arrested Again

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On April 27, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a known person on Tokyo Crescent.

Police were conducting regular patrol duties when they recognized a person who had an arrest warrant for failing to attend court on March 4, 2025, to answer to previous drug related charges.     

David Jack (DJ) WILLETT, 34-years-old, of Elliot Lake, was arrested and charged with:

  • Failure to attend court while on Release Order
  • Failure to attend court after having appeared

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on April 28, 2025.

Andrew HEPBURN Was Arrested Again

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – Prohibited driver charged in Elliot Lake.

On April 12, 2025, at approximately 10:45 a.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting general patrol duties on Spruce Avenue. Police recognized a black car with a known suspended driver.

A subsequent vehicle stop was conducted and the driver was arrested. The vehicle was also towed and impounded.     

Andrew HEPBURN, 28-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order
  • Driving while under suspension – while suspended under HTA Sec 41/42
  • Driving while under suspension (two counts)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on June 12, 2025.

UNDERWOOD – Careless Driving Causing Death

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On April 8, 2025, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged the Off-Road Vehicle (ORV), or “side-by-side”, operator.

On October 15, 2024, at approximately 2:45 a.m. police and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a single ORV collision on a gravel road in a remote location off the Portelance Road, north of Elliot Lake. 

The collision resulted in an ORV roll over, claiming the life of a 61-year-old passenger. After an extensive investigation by the OPP’s Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team and Technical Collison Investigator (TCI), under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS), the ORV operator was charged.

Todd UNDERWOOD, 62-years-old, from Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • Careless driving causing death
  • Drive with passenger not wearing seatbelt
  • Drive with passenger not wearing proper helmet

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on May 21, 2025.

LANDRY Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- Pickup truck makes a wide right turn and almost strikes a fully marked OPP cruiser.

On March 20, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were in a fully marked cruiser travelling northbound on Highway 108. Police approached the traffic lights at Highway 108 and Hillside Drive South and entered the left turning lane while doing so a red pickup truck was turning right from Hillside Drive South almost striking the OPP cruiser. 

A traffic stop was initiated on Highway 108 north and while speaking to the driver police determined alcohol had been consumed and the driver was arrested.  

Paul LANDRY, 58 years-of-age from Ottawa was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Turn -not in safety

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 10, 2025.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension.

Assault With Weapon – BAKER

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- The East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a family dispute at a residence on Beckett Boulevard in the City of Elliot Lake resulting in one person being arrested.

On March 20, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., police attended the residence to speak to the complainant/parent and were advised that the younger family member was throwing household items around, swung a broom stick at the complainant and a grandparent and threatening to punch both victims in the face. 

Prior to police arrival the younger family member left the residence and was later arrested at 2:15 p.m., on Spine Road.

Dean BAKER, 27 years-of-age from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – two counts

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 10, 2025.

Michael SCHELL Facing Numerous Charges

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- Suspended driver charged with numerous offences.

On March 17, 2025, at approximately 10:15 a.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of an unlicensed driver in a grey pickup truck at a coffee shop on Highway 108 in the City of Elliot Lake.

Police later observed the same grey pickup truck parked at a residence on Central Avenue. At approximately 1:30 p.m., the grey pickup truck pulled out of the driveway with a utility trailer in tow and a traffic stop was initiated on Poplar Road.

A query revealed the driver was suspended and breaching a condition of their Undertaking. An arrest was made, and a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating a small amount cannabis marihuana on the front seat and in the centre console.

Michael SCHELL, 38 years-of-age from Sudbury was charged with:

  • Failure to comply with Undertaking
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts
  • Driver-fail to properly wear seatbelt
  • Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Improper tires-draw vehicle
  • Improper tires
  • Improper means of attachment

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 10, 2025.

Raymond YOUNG Was Arrested Again

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- On March 12, 2025, an individual was found to be in violation of conditions prohibiting them from attending an address on Axmith Avenue in the City of Elliot Lake.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an individual in the complainant’s carport on Axmith Avenue, who was not supposed to be there.

As a result, Raymond YOUNG, 34 years-of-age from Elliot Lake was charged with: Fail to comply with release order – other than to attend court – two counts.

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on March 13, 2025, and was remanded into custody.

Cody BURMAN Was Arrested Again

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- On March 12, 2025, a suspicious person was observed entering and exiting a local grocery store on Hillside Drive South in the City of Elliot Lake.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an individual who appeared to be impaired, going in and out of the store and approaching white cars in the parking lot. The person had left the scene on foot before police arrived.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., police located the individual. A query revealed that the person was wanted, and an arrest was made.

Cody BURMAN, 33 years-of-age from Elliot Lake was charged with: Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court – two counts

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on March 13, 2025.

18 Year Old Facing Attempt Theft & Assault Charges – Name Relased

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- On March11, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., three individuals were caught attempting to shoplift from local grocery store on Hillside Drive South in the City of Elliot Lake.

The East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an attempted theft of alcohol. As store staff attempted to stop three individuals from leaving, the trio fled the scene, and one of them pushed an employee, causing them to fall and injure their shoulder.

On March 12, 2025, police arrested three individuals. The first arrest occurred at approximately 12:15 a.m., with 18-year-old Nichola SACHRO from Blind River being charged with:

  • Attempt – theft under $5000 – shoplifting
  • Assault

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 10, 2025.

The second arrest was made at approximately 2:00 p.m., with a 16-year-old from Elliot Lake being charged with: Attempt – theft under $5000 – shoplifting and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 3, 2025.

The third arrest was made at approximately 5:00 p.m., with a another 16-year-old from Elliot Lake charged with: Attempt – theft under $5000 – shoplifting and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on May 6, 2025.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – 3 Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested three people in a stolen pickup truck in Elliot Lake.

On March 2, 2025, at approximately 6:15 a.m., police located a stolen pickup truck in a parking lot at an apartment complex on Hillside Drive North. The pickup truck attempted to leave the area but was stopped and the driver and two occupants were arrested. Additionally, the driver had a bag of pills and brass knuckles in their possession. They also exhibited signs of impairment by drug. 

Lee WESTLEY, 36-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – Drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin)

Curtis BOWLES, 33-years-old, of Elliot Lake, was charged with – Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.

Larissa RICHER, 30-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with – Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.

All three accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 10, 2025.

The OPP would like to remind the motoring public that impaired is impaired. Impairment by drugs is a crime under the Criminal Code and drivers are subject to the same penalties as those who are charged with driving while impaired by alcohol.  A charge of impairment by drugs involves all drugs, be it prescription, over-the-counter and those that are illegal.

Daniel DUCHARME Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On February 27, 2025, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a warrant at a residence on Hillside Drive South in Elliot Lake.

The person had failed to comply with conditions on a previous release order, failed to attend for prints, and failed to attend court. These orders were from previous charges of obstruct police, public mischief, and unauthorized possession of a weapon. 

On February 27, police attended the person’s residence and executed the arrest warrant.

Daniel DUCHARME, 38-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

·      Fail to attend for fingerprints – as per Undertaking

·      Fail to attend for court – as per Undertaking

·      Fail to comply with Undertaking

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on February 28, 2025.
