Pervert Alert: Sajan DHONSI Arrested For Child Porn, Sexual Assault, etc.

A male is in custody after secretly taking intimate images and sexually assaulting a female in Whitby.

Between Monday, October 2, and Tuesday, October 3, 2023, the suspect secretly recorded intimate images and sexually assaulted the victim while she was asleep.  These images, including historic intimate images of the victim, were shared without her consent.  Further images of other victims that were underage were also posted on various social media platforms without their consent.

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, members of the Central West Division Criminal Investigations Branch, with the assistance of Central West Division frontline officers and the E-Crimes Unit, executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in Whitby.  The suspect was located and taken into custody without incident.  Numerous electronics were seized from the residence.

Sajan DHONSI, age 21 from Whitby is charged with numerous offences including: Sexual Assault, Secretly Observe/Record Person for Sexual Purpose, Publish Intimate Images Without Consent x2, and Possess Child Pornography.

He was held for a bail hearing.

Pervert Alert: Dane GIFFORD Arrested For Pimping Teen

A male is in custody following a human trafficking investigation involving a 16-year-old female.

On Friday, February 23, 2024, members of the Human Trafficking Unit, with the assistance of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch, conducted an investigation into an online advertisement for sexual services provided by a female believed to be underage.  The investigation confirmed the female was 16-years-old and staying at a residence in Brampton.  The female was located and brought to a place of safety without incident.

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, members of the Human Trafficking Unit attended the same residence in Brampton.  The subject of the investigation was observed leaving the residence in his vehicle.  Police initiated a traffic stop and took the male into custody without incident. 

Dane GIFFORD, age 34 from Brampton is charged with: Procuring/Exercising Control of a Person Under 18, and Advertising Another Persons Sexual Services.

He was released on an Undertaking.

Beating At Catholic School Sends One To Hospital

A youth is recovering after being assaulted at a high school in Whitby.

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, at approximately 12:20 p.m., members from Central West Division responded to an unknown trouble call at Father Leo Austin Catholic School located at 1020 Dryden Blvd in Whitby.   Officers arrived on scene and located a youth suffering from a head injury.   He was transported to a local-area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An on-scene investigation revealed that the victim was struck in the head with a baseball bat by a group of five to six males who left the area in a vehicle.  Investigators believe this to be a targeted attack and there is no risk to public safety.

STAINTON Arrested For Fraud

A male is in custody following a fraud investigation in Durham Region.

On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., members of the Financial Crimes Unit arrested the suspect of a fraud investigation.

Between December of 2023 and March of 2024, the suspect attended different Home Depot businesses across Durham Region.  The suspect submitted order forms to the service desk and received refunds for items that were never purchased. 

Ryan STAINTON, age 45 from Orono is charged with: Fraud Under $5000 x3.

He was released on an Undertaking.

Drug Bust – MENTON & IMPENS

A male and female have been arrested following a drug investigation in Oshawa.

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, members of the East Division Community Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of King Street East and Farewell Street.  Quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and cash were located and seized.  A male and female were taken into custody without incident.

Derek IMPENS, age 40 from Oshawa is charged with numerous offences including: Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Schedule I Substance (fentanyl) for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Schedule I Substance (methamphetamine) for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession Contrary to Order x3, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2.

Rachel MENTON, age 35 of No Fixed Address is charged with numerous offences including: Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Schedule I Substance (fentanyl) for the Purpose of Trafficking, and Possession of a Schedule I Substance (methamphetamine) for the Purpose of Trafficking.

IMPENS was held for a bail hearing. MENTON was released on an Undertaking.

Repeat Offender Pervert Alert – Garry FISHER Arrested For Child Pornography,

A male has been arrested for sexual assault and breaching his release order.

On Monday, January 1, 2024, the accused began to contact the victim while on a no contact order, and attempted to intimidate her into dropping the charges.  The victim came forward to police, who commenced a secondary investigation, after she detailed a sexual assault by the suspect. 

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, members of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch, with assistance from members of the Internet and Child Exploitation Unit and E-Crimes Unit attended a residential address in Lansdowne to execute a search warrant.  The suspect was located inside the residence and taken into custody without incident. 

Numerous electronics were located and seized.

Investigators have concerns there may be more victims and are releasing a photo of the accused (attached).

Garry FISHER, age 60 from Lansdowne is charged with 23 offences including: Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference with Person Under 16, Luring a Person Under 16, Possession of Child Pornography, Access Child Pornography, Criminal Harassment, Make Indecent Telecommunications, Obstruct Justice, Uttering Threats x6, and Fail to Comply with Release Order x6.

He was held for a bail hearing.

Repeat Offender Tajae REID Arrested For Human Trafficking

A male is in custody following a human trafficking investigation in Oshawa.

On Friday, December 8, 2023, at approximately 4:10 p.m., members of Central East Division responded to a check on well-being call in the area of Laval Drive and Stevenson Road, in Oshawa.  Officers located a female who advised she was left stranded by a male who had forced her to work in the sex trade.

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, following an investigation by the DRPS Human Trafficking Unit, a search warrant was executed at a residence in the area of Jarvis Street and Dundas Street in the city of Toronto.  The male suspect was located and taken into custody without incident.

Investigators have concerns there may be more victims and are releasing photos of the accused.

Tajae REID, age 23 from Toronto is charged with numerous offences including: Trafficking in Persons, Financial/Material Benefit from Sexual Services, Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration, Procuring, Advertising Sexual Service, Disobey Court Order, Breach Probation and Possession of Cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

He was held for a bail hearing.

Repeat Offender David DUCHENE Arrested After Robbing 3 Banks

A 41-year-old male is facing numerous charges after robbing three banks in three days in Durham Region.

On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., members from East Division attended a robbery call at the TD Bank located at 570 Longworth Avenue in Bowmanville.   A male entered the bank and demanded cash.  He indicated he had a firearm; however, no gun was seen.  The male left the bank and left the area in a red sedan.

On Thursday, February 22, 2024, at approximately 5:45 p.m., members from North Division attended a robbery call at the TD Bank located at 165 Queen Street in Port Perry.   A male entered the bank and demanded cash.  He indicated he had a firearm however no gun was seen.  The suspect obtained a quantity of cash and fled the bank.

On Friday, February 23, 2024 at approximately 2:30 p.m., members from North Division responded to a robbery call at the Scotiabank located at 1 Douglas Road in Uxbridge.  A male entered the bank and demanded cash.  He indicated he had a firearm however no gun was seen.  The suspect obtained a quantity of cash and fled the bank.

The robbery unit attended the area and located the male a short distance away.  He was taken into custody without incident.

David DUCHENE, age 41 of Ottawa is charged with Robbery x3, Disguise with Intent x3, Fail to Comply with Probation x2, Fail to Comply with Release Order and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

$2 Million Weed Bust

Members of the East Division Community Response Unit seized a Mississauga home and more than $2 million in cannabis and cash as part of Project Sorento.

The drug investigation began in mid-September as a result of a citizen complaint regarding drug trafficking in the Bowmanville area. The complainant advised that illegal drugs were being sold to youths in the community. The East Division Community Response Unit began an investigation and after approximately two months, they arrested several suspects and executed two search warrants at two separate residences, one on Clipper Lane in Bowmanville and one on Sidmouth Street in Mississauga.

Police seized the two homes and over $1.9 million in ready for sale cannabis, shatter (THC extract), cannabis vape pens, edibles and approximately $150,000 in Canadian currency.

Calvin HOANG, age 27, of Mississauga, Vuong TRAN, age 52 of Thornhill, Dung NGUYEN, age 43, of Mississauga, Yen-Thi LE, age 47, of Mississauga and a 17-year-old female of Mississauga are facing numerous charges including: Possess Proceeds of Crime; Possess Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling; Sell Cannabis to an Adult and Possess Illicit Cannabis.
