26 Year Old Repeat Abuser from Hanover Arrested Again

(BROCKTON, ON) – On March 12, 2025, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Municipality of Brockton.

Officers responded to a report of a verbal dispute. Investigation revealed that an individual involved was breaching the conditions of a previous release.

As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old from Hanover has been charged with:

  • Fail to comply with Probation, CC 733.1(1) – four counts
  • Fail to comply with Undertaking, CC 145(4)(a)

The accused was held for a bail hearing scheduled for March 13, 2025.

25 Year Old From Brockton Arrested – Details Released

(BROCKTON, ON) – On March 5, 2025, at approximately 4:45 p.m., a member of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped to check a vehicle along Catherine Street, Municipality of Brockton.

The investigating officer detected signs of impairment from the involved driver. The driver was placed under arrest and transported for further testing.

Roy KING, 25-years-old, of Brockton, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Operation while prohibited, CC 320.18(1)(a)
  • Dangerous operation, CC 320.13(1)
  • Driving while under suspension, HTA 53(1) – two counts
  • Operate unsafe vehicle, HTA 84(1)
  • Use plate not authorized, HTA 12(1)(d)
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, CAIA 2(1)(a)

The accused was held in custody by police for a bail hearing and subsequently released. They are to reappear at the Walkerton Court of Justice on April 2, 2025.

Walkerton Business Smash & Grab

(BROCKTON, ON) – On March 2, 2025, at approximately 12:55 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break & enter at a business property along Durham Street East, Municipality of Brockton.

Officers responded to the location and observed glass had been smashed in order to gain entry. Approximately $25,000 worth of merchandise was stolen from the business. A witness reported two individuals were observed running from the scene before departing in a dark coloured vehicle in the area of Durham Street East and Colborne Street South.

The following is suspect descriptors:

  • Suspect 1: Dark coloured pants, black jacket with white stripes along sleeves, black balaclava, carrying orange & black grocery bag
  • Suspect 2: White pants, white jacket, grey toque & face covering, carrying white & black grocery bag

34 Year Old From Saugeen Shores Arrested

(BROCKTON, ON) – On January 26, 2025, at approximately 8:32 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a collision involving a snowmobile in the area of Concession 14 and Baseline, Municipality of Brockton.

Members of the South Bruce OPP attended the area with Bruce County Paramedic Service and located a single snowmobile involved. The operator was transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel LINTON, 34-years-old, of Saugeen Shores has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired, CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Dangerous operation, CC 320.13(1)

The accused is set to appear in the Walkerton Court of Justice on February 26, 2025 to answer to the charges.

27 Year Old From Mount Forest Arrested

(BROCKTON, ON) – On January 11, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision along Bruce Road 4 near Ontario Road, Municipality of Brockton.

On arrival, officers located a two vehicle collision. The investigating officer detected signs of impairment from one of the involved drivers. The driver was placed under arrest and transported for further testing.

Natasha VARLEY, 27-years-old, of Mount Forest was charged with:

  • Impaired Operation (80 plus), CC 320.14(1)(b)

The accused is set to appear in the Walkerton Court of Justice on February 12, 2025.

BENNINGER & AL-MASHNI Arrested

(BROCKTON, ON) – On December 23, 2024, at approximately 8:55 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision along Bruce Road 4, Municipality of Brockton.

On arrival, officers located a single vehicle in the ditch. The investigating officer determined that the occupants were in contravention of release conditions. Two individuals were taken into custody without issue. Police seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW), and ammunition.

Michael BENNINGER, 36-years-old, of Barrie was charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm / ammunition contrary to prohibition order (x4), CC 117.01(1)
  • Failure to comply with undertaking, CC 145(4)(a)
  • Carry concealed prohibited device or ammunition, CC 90
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon, CC 91(2)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance, CDSA 4(1)
  • Careless driving, HTA 130(1)
  • Driving while under suspension, HTA 53(1)

The accused was held for a bail hearing on December 24, 2024 and subsequently remanded into custody.

Zaid AL-MASHNI, 27-years-old, of Barrie was charged with:

  • Failure to comply with undertaking, CC 145(4)(a)

The accused is set to appear at the Walkerton Court of Justice on January 22, 2024.

35 Year Old Arrested After Collision With Tree – Name Released

(BROCKTON, ON) – On December 13, 2024, at approximately 11:53 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision along Bruce Road 20, Municipality of Brockton.

On arrival, officers located a single vehicle into a tree. Police approached the vehicle and spoke with the driver.

As a result, Joel AUBREY, 35-years-old, of Saugeen Shores was charged with:

  • Refusal to comply with demand, CC 320.15(1)

The accused is set to appear in the Walkerton Court of Justice on January 8, 2025.

Assault In Walkerton – Kennedy WALSH-MCCUTCHEON Arrested

(BROCKTON, ON) – On December 10, 2024, at approximately 1:45 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an unwanted person at an address along John Street in Walkerton.

Investigation revealed that an individual brandished an edged weapon during an altercation. The accused had fled prior to police arrival, however were later located and arrested without incident.

As a result of the investigation, Kennedy WALSH-MCCUTCHEON, 25-years-old of Hanover, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon, CC 267(a)

The accused is set to appear in the Walkerton Court of Justice on January 15, 2025 to answer to the charge.

Eli COOK Was Arrested Again

(BROCKTON, ON) – On December 10, 2024, at approximately 3:22 p.m., members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on foot in a wooded area off of South Street in Walkerton to search for an accused in an unrelated matter.

Officers encountered an individual with outstanding warrants who attempted to flea on foot; however, ran in the direction where additional officers were situated. They were taken into custody without incident. A search incident to arrest led to additional charges.

As a result of the investigation, Eli COOK, 36-years-old of no fixed address, has been charged with:

  • Fail to comply with release order, CC 145(5)(a)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine, CDSA 4(1)

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing on December 11 2024.

Fatal Collision

(BROCKTON, ON) – On November 20, 2024, at approximately 8:47 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision on Bruce Road 20 at Concession 2, Municipality of Brockton.

Officers responded to the scene with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to find two passenger vehicles involved in a collision.

Two patients were transported by EMS to a local hospital; a 76-year-old resident of Markdale was later pronounced deceased.

Road closures were placed at the scene for the protection of emergency responders. Bruce Road 20 between Highway 9 and Concession 4 was closed for the duration of the investigation but are now being reopened.

The South Bruce OPP is continuing to investigate the collision along with members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team, and the Coroner’s office.

John ALLEN – Drunk Driving

(BROCKTON, ON) – On November 5, 2024, at approximately 8:58 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped to check a vehicle along Hannah Street, Municipality of Brockton.

The investigating officer detected signs of impairment from the driver. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the South Bruce OPP detachment for further testing.

John ALLEN, 26-years-old, from New Lowell was charged with:

  • Impaired Operation – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), CC 320.14(1)(a)

The accused is set to appear in the Walkerton Court of Justice on December 18, 2024.6

$200,000 Drug Bust – Daniel SMITH Charged

(BROCKTON, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have seized a large quantity of suspected cocaine as a result of a search warrant.

On November 6, 2024, members of the OPP West Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed search warrants at addresses in Dundalk and Clifford; the accused was taken into custody outside of Walkerton without incident. 

As a result of the investigation, police seized approximately 1.9 kilograms of suspected cocaine, $12,000 in Canadian Currency, and a motor vehicle. The combined estimated street value of the seized controlled substances is approximately $200,000.

Daniel SMITH, 32-years-old of Dundalk has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, 5(2) CDSA
  • Failure to comply with undertaking, 145(4)(a) CC (two counts)

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Walkerton Ontario Court of Justice on November 12, 2024.

Shots Fired In Road Rage Incident

(MUNICIPALITY OF BROCKTON, ON) – South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit is investigating an incident involving road rage that resulted in gunfire in the Municipality of Brockton.

On October 30, 2024, just before 11:00 p.m., South Bruce OPP officers responded to a residence on Bruce Road 1, near Paisley.

Police discovered that a pickup truck had followed another vehicle to a residence on Bruce Road 1 where gunshots were subsequently fired after an earlier interaction on the roadway.

At this time, no injuries have been reported to police.

Investigators are still at the scene and are asking the public to avoid the area.

(BROCKTON, ON) – On September 6, 2024, at approximately 7:14 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break & enter to a residence along Bruce Road 4 in Brockton.

As a result of the investigation, on October 9, 2024, the South Bruce OPP arrested and charged one individual with numerous offences.

Cheyenne FORTUNE, 31-years-old from Hanover was charged with:

  • Break & Enter a dwelling house (two counts)
  • Mischief Under $5,000
  • Theft Over $5,000

Brailin HAYS Was Arrested

(BROCKTON, ON) – On September 26, 2024, at approximately 1:19 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Bruce Road 15.

During the operation, a vehicle fled from the area. The driver was identified by police and arrested at a later time.

As a result of the investigation, Brailin HAYS, 18-years-old from Kincardine, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Flight from peace officer, CC 320.17
  • Dangerous Operation, CC 320.13(1)
  • Refusal to comply with demand, CC 320.15(1)
  • Operate motor vehicle without insurance, CAIA 2(1)(a)

The accused was held for a bail hearing and later released from custody. The accused is set to appear at the Walkerton Court of Justice on October 23, 2024.
