More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people with impaired driving between January 11th and 13th, 2025.

On Saturday January 11, at 2:40 p.m., while Bracebridge OPP officers were conducting an investigation, they had an interaction with a driver in the area of Southbank Drive in Bracebridge. As a result of that interaction, police arrested and charged 30-year-old Brittany GEMMILL with Failure/Refusal to Provide a Breath Sample CC 320.15(1). She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on February 4, 2025 to answer to her charge.

On Monday January 13, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. a member of the public called police to report their concerns over the condition of a driver who had their vehicle stuck in the snow on Highway 11 South at Doe Lake Road in Gravenhurst. Officers attended and subsequently arrested and charged 36-year-old Justin LEGG of Bracebridge with Operation while Impaired by Drug CC 320.14(1)(a). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 11, 2025 to answer to his charge.

MONK Arrested Again

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two local men with impaired driving between January 4th and 7th, 2025.

On Saturday January 4, 2025, just before midnight, a member of the public called police concerned about the condition of a driver who appeared to be having trouble with their vehicle in a parking lot of a building centre on Manitoba Street near Falkenburg Road in Bracebridge. Officers attended, entered into an impaired driving investigation and subsequently arrested and charged 38-year-old Evan MONK of Port Sydney with the following:

  • Operation while Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand CC 320.15(1)
  • Obstruct Peace Officer CC 129(a)
  • Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code CC 320.18(1)(a) X 4.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge.

On Tuesday January 7, 2025 at 5:15 p.m. a Bracebridge OPP officer attended a service centre located on Highway 11 North in Gravenhurst and while there noticed a vehicle stopped at the gas pumps for an extended period of time. The officer approached the vehicle and had to rouse the driver. As a result of their investigation, police have arrested and charged 34-year-old Mackenzie WEAVER of Bracebridge with Operation while Impaired by Drug CC 320.14(1)(a) and Operation while Prohibited CC 320.18(1)(a). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 18, 2025 to answer to his charges.

4 Arrested For Break & Enters

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged four individuals in relation to a series of break and enters in Muskoka.

On December 27, 2024, at 4:45 a.m. Bracebridge OPP officers were dispatched to a break and enter at a building centre located on Muskoka Road 169 in Gravenhurst. Suspects broke in and with efficiency, stole approximately $10,000.00 worth of tools and left in a large white panel van.

On December 30, 2024, at 1:40 a.m. a Bracebridge OPP officer was conducting proactive patrols on Wellington Street in the town of Bracebridge and recognized an eastbound vehicle matching the description of the one used in the above incident. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the driver failed to stop as directed, continuing onto Highway 11 South. With the assistance of additional officers, including several officers from Orillia detachment, the vehicle was successfully stopped on Highway 11 South near Highway 12 in Orillia and the four occupants were taken into custody.

Simultaneously, at 1:45 a.m. Bracebridge OPP officers received a call for service from a building centre located on Wellington Street in Bracebridge, reporting that there had been a break and enter, and a significant quantity of tools had been stolen.

Police arrested and charged the following individuals:

Balkar Singh MANN, 35 years-old of Brampton, ON:

  • Failure to stop after accident CC 320.16(1)

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 CC 354(1)(a)
  • Break and Enter CC 348(1)(a) X2
  • Theft over $5000 CC 334(a) X2
  • Failure to comply with undertaking CC 145(4)(a)
  • Poss of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 CC 354(1)(a)

Nitish RATHEE, 23 years-old of Brampton, ON:

All four accused parties have been held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on December 30, 2024.

A quantity of stolen property was recovered from the vehicle and police are continuing the investigation and collecting evidence. Motel Fire – One Arrested

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has one person after responding to several 9-1-1 calls.

On December 22, 2024, between approximately 6:00 p.m. and 1:20 a.m., Bracebridge OPP officers responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls from an individual at a motel located on Manitoba Street near Wellington Street North in Bracebridge. The individual stated several concerns, however was uncooperative with attending officers, who found no evidence of the stated concerns.

During the final 9-1-1 call at 1:22 a.m., officers discovered that there had been a fire lit inside the motel and the caller was refusing to leave his room. After police were able to gain entry and extinguish the fire and ascertain that the individual was safe, officers took 52-year-old Shane JONES of Gravenhurst into custody. He has been charged with Arson CC 433(a), Mischief – destroy or damage property CC 430(1)(a) and Public Mischief CC 140(1)(c). He was held in custody for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on December 23, 2024.

Jason CHEETHAM Was Arrested – Details Released

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged another person with Impaired Driving in Bracebridge.

On December 21, 2024 at 10:15 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers responded to a concern from a member of the pubic about the well-being of a driver in a vehicle that was stopped near Pine Street in Bracebridge. As a result of their investigation, police arrested and charged 46-year-old Jason CHEETHAM of Bracebridge, ON with  Operation while Impaired- Drug CC 320.14(1)(a), Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Opioid CDSA 4(1) and Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine CDSA 4(1). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 4, 2025 to answer to his charges.

David MARSHALL – Drunk Driving

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged the operator of an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) with Impaired Driving in Bracebridge.

On December 17, 2024 just after 4:00 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers were conducting proactive patrols on Frederick Street in Bracebridge, ON and conducted a traffic stop involving an ATV after noticing safety equipment missing. As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged 62-year-old David MARSHALL of Bracebridge, ON with Impaired Operation- Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on January 7, 2025 to answer to his charge.

Luis MESQUITA – Cocaine, Impaired Operation

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has taken another impaired driver off of the roads in Bracebridge.

On December 16, 2024 just after midnight, a Bracebridge OPP officer was out conducting proactive patrols on Wellington Street in Bracebridge, ON and conducted a traffic stop after noticing some deficiencies on a vehicle. As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged 22-year-old Luis MESQUITA of Bracebridge, ON with Impaired Operation CC 320.14(1)(a), Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b) and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine CDSA 4(1). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on January 21, 2025 to answer to his charges.

3 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – As many residents in Muskoka were coping with the challenges related to the ongoing winter storm, Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged three drivers in separate incidents in one day with impaired driving.

On December 8, 2024 just before 1:00 a.m., Bracebridge OPP officers were conducting general patrol in the area of Steamship Bay Road in Gravenhurst when they became concerned about the driving behaviour of a truck pulling a trailer that was carrying snowmobiles. The officers conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested and charged 22-year-old Calob MARSHALL of Iroquois Falls, ON with Impaired Operation CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on January 7, 2025 to answer to his charges.

Also on December 8, 2024 at 1:00 a.m. Bracebridge OPP officers began an investigation into a single motor vehicle collision on Dudley Road in Muskoka Lakes Township after a car left the roadway and became stuck in a snowbank. Officers subsequently arrested and charged 25-year-old Luke MANGOTICH of Burlington, ON with Impaired Operation CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on January 7, 2025 to answer to his charges.

Later that same day, on December 8, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers responded to concerns from members of the public about what was described as the unsafe driving behaviour of a vehicle on Highway 118 East in Bracebridge. Officers located the vehicle and began an investigation into the driving concern and arrested and charged 21-year-old Sartaj SINGH of Brampton, ON with Impaired Operation-by Drug CC 320.14(1)(a) and Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available CCA2017 12(1). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on January 14, 2025 to answer to his charges.

2 Arrested Attempting To Flee Police

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people after they attempted to flee from police.

On December 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. a Bracebridge OPP officer was conducting patrols in the town of Bracebridge in the area of Taylor Road and Depot Drive and observed a highway traffic act offense. While positioning himself to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle in question fled the area at a high rate of speed onto Highway 11 South. Officers were able to monitor the vehicles whereabouts as it exited and then re-entered Highway 11 South and ultimately turned onto Pinedale Road in Gravenhurst where officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle failed to stop and in the interest of public safety in the busy residential neighbourhood, officers disengaged. Members of the public, however, were paying close attention and provided information to police about the vehicle’s direction of travel, and ultimately a resident with a keen eye reported that the suspicious vehicle was in his neighbourhood.

Officers attended and located the vehicle in a driveway and upon approach, the vehicle attempted to flee again, narrowing missing the police cruiser and became lodged in a snowbank. Apparently undeterred, the driver exited his car and fled on foot as officers gained control of the female passenger.

The OPP K-9 unit and the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) attended quickly and commenced a search and shortly after 12:30 p.m. the suspect was apprehended.

Police have charged 29-year-old Eric DAOUST of Espanola, ON with the following:

  • Dangerous Operation CC 320.13(1)
  • Flight from Peace Officer CC 320.17
  • Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code CC 320.18(1)(a) X 2
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order CC 145(5)(a) X 3
  • Break and Enter CC 348(1)(b)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime CC 354(1)(a) X 2
  • Possession of Break In Instruments CC 351(1)
  • Theft Over $5000 CC 334(b)
  • Possession of Schedule I (Methamphetamine) CDSA 4(1)

Police have also charged 20-year-old Sage SAGASSIGE of Sables-Spanish Rivers Twp, ON with:

  • Possession of Break In Instruments CC 351(1)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime CC 355(b) X 2
  • Possession of Schedule I (Methamphetamine) CDSA 4(1)

Both accused parties have been held in custody for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice on Saturday, December 7, 2024 to answer to their charges.

Aysha TRYON – Impaired Operation

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one driver with impaired driving after responding to a concern from another motorist.

On November 28, 2024 at 4:40 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers responded to a concern from a member of the public about a possibly impaired driver on Muskoka Road 169 in Muskoka Lakes Township, travelling toward Gravenhurst. Officers located the vehicle on James Street in Gravenhurst and conducted a traffic stop. As a result of their investigation, police have charged 30-year-old Aysha TRYON of Parry Sound with Impaired Operation CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on December 17, 2024 to answer to her charges.

Scott DUNLOP – Impaired Driving

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one driver with impaired driving before noon this morning, November 29, 2024.

On November 29, 2024 at 10:15 a.m., Bracebridge OPP officers responded to a concern from a member of the public about a possibly impaired driver in the area of Muskoka Road 118 and Wellington Street in the town of Bracebridge. Officers located the vehicle and as a result of their investigation, have charged 66-year-old Scott DUNLOP of Bracebridge with Impaired Operation – Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on January 14, 2025 to answer to his charge.

Islam HERZALLAH – Impaired Driving

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with Impaired Driving after finding it travelling well over the posted speed limit on Highway 11.

On Saturday November 23, 2024, at 9:45 p.m. a Bracebridge OPP officer was conducting general patrol on Highway 11 North in the area of South Mary Lake Road in Huntsville and conducted a traffic stop after a vehicle overtook them at almost double the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr. As a result of the investigation, police have charged 25-year-old Islam HERZALLAH of Thornhill, ON with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Stunt Driving HTA 172(1)
  • Novice Driver -B.A.C. above zero HTA 44.1(3)

He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on December 17, 2024 to answer to his charges.

In Ontario, drivers who are charged with Impaired Driving related offenses are subjected to an immediate 90-day drivers license suspension and have their vehicle is impounded. Furthermore, Novice Drivers are not permitted to drive with any alcohol in their system.

Mark MCNALLY – Impaired Driving

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one driver after a traffic stop near the police detachment.

On Monday November 25, 2024, at 11:00 p.m. a Bracebridge OPP officer was conducting general patrol on Cedar Lane in Bracebridge and stopped a vehicle after having concerns over driving behaviour. As a result of the investigation, police have charged 39-year-old Mark MCNALLY of Toronto with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on December 31, 2024 to answer to his charges.

The OPP has kicked off the Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign, this is an annual police enforcement and education initiative led by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police aimed at taking impaired drivers off Ontario roads during the holiday season. During the campaign, the motoring public can expect to see an increased OPP presence as officers conduct RIDE initiatives 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the province.

Jeremy LAMB – Drunk Driving

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one driver with an impaired driving related offense today in a school zone.

On October 11, 2024, shortly before noon, at 11:05 a.m., a Bracebridge OPP officer was conducting patrol in a school zone on Wellington Street in Bracebridge and stopped a vehicle near Armstrong Street. As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged 45-year-old Jeremy LAMB of Utterson, ON with Operation While Impaired-Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on November 26, 2024 to answer to his charge.

Breeze JANTZI Was Arrested

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person at a RIDE check on October 6, 2024.

On October 6, 2024 at 11:30 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers along with members of the Central Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program on Taylor Road near Depot Drive in Bracebridge, ON when they began an investigation into the driving of a person coming through the checkpoint.

As a result of their investigation, police have charged 22-year-old Breeze JANTZI of Mactier, ON with Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) for the Purpose of Trafficking CDSA 5(2) and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 CC 354(1)(a). She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on November 12, 2024 to answer to her charges.
