Several More Impaired Charges

IDDLESEX, ON) – Over the course of the weekend, members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were busy doing their part to keep our communities safe. 

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Single vehicle collision results in Impaired charge

On June 12, 2022, at 6:39 p.m., members of the Middlesex County OPP were dispatched to River Drive, Southwest Middlesex, for the report of a single vehicle collision.

An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Aaron TOWNE, a 45-year-old of Wardsville, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges.

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – RIDE Program results in Impaired charge

On June 12, 2022, at 1;10 a.m., members of the Middlesex County OPP were performing a RIDE program on Thorndale Road in Thames Centre. A vehicle entered the program and the driver was suspected to have consumed alcohol.

An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Thang NGO, a 41-year-old of Thamesville, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges.

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Traffic complaint results in Impaired charge

On June 11, 2022, at 3:30 a.m., members of the Middlesex County OPP were dispatched to Highway 401 westbound, Thames Centre, where multiple calls were received for a possible impaired driver.

The vehicle exited the highway onto Putnam Road and struck a hydro pole. No injuries were reported. 

As a result, a 17-year-old youth of Brantford, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada and Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Young driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges.

(STRATHROY-CARADOC, ON) – Single vehicle collision results in Impaired charge

On June 11, 2022, at 2:24 a.m., members of the Middlesex County OPP were dispatched to Highway 402 eastbound, Strathroy-Caradoc for the report of a single vehicle collision.

An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Brett BANKS-GOLEM, a 22-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges.

Numerous Items Stolen From Meaford

(MEAFORD, ON) – On May 27, 2022, The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft from a property located on Highway 26 in the Municipality of Meaford. Officers discovered that sometime between May 23, 2022 and May 26, 2022, unknown suspects attended a property and removed several items.

The following items were stolen:

·        2017 American Hauler cargo trailer – VIN 593200J27H1056367 with Ontario marker P3042W.

·        CAMSO UTV – 4S1 tracks for Honda side-by-side

·        Two sets of winter tires on steel rims

·        Honda lawn mower – model HRS2166PKC with serial number MZBZ6585699

·        Honda weed eater – head model UMC435LAC1, head serial number HAMT2000960 / Brush Cutter model SSBCC with serial SBCC1003941

·        Thule bike rack – hitch mount

·        Kubota Land Pride Rear finishing mower with rear discharge – model number FDR1660 with serial number 1587114

·        Kubota Land Pride box blade – 66″ width with model number BB1266 and serial number 1732011

·        Horst welding pallet forks – model number HD2048 with serial number 21LA73571

·        Various gardening tools (shovels, rake, etc)

·        Mastercraft table saw

·        Mastercraft wet saw

·        Several gas cans

·        Miscellaneous pieces of wood

·        Some smaller tools used for installing tile

·        Red snowblower with a 30″ cut

Police canvassed the area, and it was discovered that on May 25, 2022, a white Ford pickup truck, believed to be a 2010 or 2011 model with chrome-coloured rims was observed entering the property and leaving eastbound on Highway 26. The pickup truck is of interest regarding this ongoing investigation.

School Bus Involved In Collision

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – On Thursday June 9, 2022, at approximately 3:29 p.m., Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), County of Brant Fire Department and Brant-Brantford Paramedic Services responded to County Road 18 in Brant County for a two-vehicle collision involving a school bus.

It was determined the school bus, loaded with 32 students, struck a commercial motor vehicle near the intersection at Cockshutt Road. Paramedics assessed the involved parties with minor injuries. No occupants from either vehicle were transported to hospital.

The incident remains under investigation. Police are asking anyone in the area who may own a dash camera and may have witnessed the collision to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

28 Year Old Arrested At RIDE – VAN DOORNIK

(HURON EAST, ON) – A resident of Huron East has a court appearance and charge to answer to following his arrest for Over 80 last weekend.

At approximately 7:22 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checks at the intersection of Front Road and Kinburn Line when an automobile entered the checkpoint. While speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. 

A roadside screening test was administered and the driver registered a fail. Upon doing so the driver was arrested for Over 80 and was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were observed to be over the legal limit. 

Eric VAN DOORNIK, 28 years of age from Huron East has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 4, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

18 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A teenager from Stoney Creek is facing an 80 Plus charge following a traffic stop in Exeter last weekend.

At approximately 2:19 a.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2022 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a sedan on Main Street in Exeter that had just pulled out of a restaurant drive thru. Upon checking on the driver the investigating officer made some observations that the driver had consumed some alcohol. 

A roadside test was conducted and it confirmed the officers’ observations that the driver had consumed some alcohol. After failing the roadside test the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for further testing. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were analyzed to be above the legal limit. 

Evan RAMADORI, 18 years of age from Stoney Creek has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus). The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 4, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Do You Recognize This Suspect?

(TOWN OF ROCKWOOD, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in relation to a day-time break and enter.

On June 8, 2022, at approximately 11:00 a.m., officers received a report of a break and enter that had just occurred in the town of Rockwood. The suspect entered a residence while the homeowner was outside at the front of the house. The homeowner confronted the suspect, and the then suspect fled to a waiting a black Mazda 5 with Ontario License plate CWDX725.

29 Year Old Impaired Driver Arrested – PHOENIX

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a resident of London with Impaired Operation following a traffic stop that took place in Zurich last month. 

On May 22, 2022 at approximately 2:00 a.m. Huron OPP officers responded to a residence located on Zurich-Hensall Road to investigate a report of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance on the roadway. Police arrived in the area and noticed a vehicle leaving the location in an erratic manner on Walnut Street. A traffic stop ensued and the driver was observed to be impaired by alcohol. 

The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit. 

Kristian PHOENIX, 29 years of age from London has been charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) and Novice Driver – Blood Alcohol Content Above Zero. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 27, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

PATTON – Drunk Driving

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Tips from the public assisted in locating an impaired driver, who was arrested in the Municipality of West Perth yesterday. 

On June 8, 2022, just after 5:30 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious person in West Perth.

Officers later located a person on Quebec Street in Mitchell driving an electric scooter. The officer determined the driver was impaired. Officers also learned that the driver was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle.

They were arrested and transported to a local detachment for further testing.

Tanya PATTON, 41, of West Perth, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

–      Operation while Prohibited – Legal Restriction from any other Act of Parliament or Provincial Law

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

18 Year Old Drinking & Speeding Driver Charged

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Stratford driver after they were speeding more than 50 km/hr over the limit in the Township of Perth East.

On June 7, 2022, just after 7:00 p.m., a police officer on general patrol stopped a vehicle on Perth Line 55 in Perth East after it was found to be travelling in excess of 130km/hr in an 80km/h limit zone.

While the officer was speaking with the driver, they noted the novice driver had been drinking alcohol.  An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized.   

As a result, an 18-year-old resident of Stratford has been charged with:

–      Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

–      Novice driver B.A.C. above 0

A 30-day driving suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

It is a condition of the driver’s license of every Novice driver and every young driver (under the age of 22) that their blood alcohol concentration must be zero.

Another Pedestrian Injured

(PERTH EAST, ON) – One person was charged after a collision in Perth East resulted in minor injuries.

On June 3, 2022, at approximately 3:20 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Mill Street East in the Township of Perth East. The investigation indicated that the vehicle collided with the pedestrian.  

One person was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, a 66-year-old resident of Delaware has been charged with:

–      Careless Driving

The accused was issued a Provincial Notice for the offence.

15 Year Old Suffers Serious Injured In Hit & Run – 85 Year Old Driver Tracked Down

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver in a collision that saw a 15-year-old cyclist suffer serious injuries on Highway 89, east of Mount Forest. As a result of the investigation, Raymon E. HAMBLIN, 85-years-old of Kitchener, has been charged with Failing to Stop at an Accident Resulting in Bodily Harm contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph at a later date.

On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at approximately 8:20 p.m., emergency services responded to report of a collision involving a bicycle and motor vehicle at a Highway 89, Twp of Wellington North. The cyclist was transported to a trauma centre with serious injuries.

17 Year Old Facing Careless Driving Charge

(WEST PERTH, ON) – A Fullarton resident has been charged after the tractor they were operating rolled into a ditch.

On June 3, 2022, just before 12:00 p.m.., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Line 26 in the Municipality of West Perth.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the driver’s trailer caught the ditch and the tractor rolled. Minor injuries were reported.

A 17-year-old from Fullarton has been charged with:

–      Careless Driving

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Theft In North Perth – RASSMAN Arrested

 (NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person has been charged after stealing over $100 worth of items from a local business in the Municipality of North Perth.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a business on Wallace Avenue North, Listowel on May 31, 2022, just after 10:00 a.m., after a person was witnessed shoplifting.

Serina RASSMAN, 43, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Hit & Run In Wingham – Police Withhold Name Of Drinking Driver #EndPoliceCorruption

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a young driver from Morris-Turnberry with three offences following a fail to remain collision in Wingham this past weekend. 

Shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022 Huron OPP officers responded to a two-vehicle collision located at the intersection of Josephine Street and Victoria Street. Upon arrival officers learned the at-fault driver fled the scene leaving behind a licence plate from the suspect vehicle. 

Soon after officers attended the address of the licence plate owner and were able to locate and identify the driver. Upon speaking with the driver officers also noted she had been drinking alcohol. A breath test was later conducted and the driver registered a warning. 

A 21-year-old from Morris-Turnberry has been charged with:  Fail to Yield to Traffic on a Through Highway, Young Driver – BAC Above Zero, Fail to Remain and she was also served with a 3-Day Driver’s Licence Suspension. 

A court date has now been set for Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich.

Drunk Driver Going 170 In An 80 Arrested

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver for stunt driving while being impaired.

On May 29, 2022, just before 10:00 a.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on Perth Line 44 in the Municipality of West Perth after the vehicle was observed by the officer travelling at over 170km/h in an 80km/h zone.

During the investigation, it was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to a local operations centre for further testing.

Robert FORLER, 54, of Stratford, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

–      Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed

The accused party was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 14-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.
