Update: 10 Month Old Succumbs To Injuries – First Degree Murder Charge Laidds

(GREY HIGHLANDS) – A Grey Highlands resident is now facing a murder charge following an investigation into an incident at a Grey County home.

Nancy BRUBACHER, 30-years-old of Grey Highlands, is now charged with First Degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

Police began the investigation on December 7, 2023, after members of the Grey Bruce detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call concerning an unresponsive infant at a home on South Line B.

The 10-month-old victim was transported to hospital in London where she succumbed to her injuries.

The Grey Bruce Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

44 Year Old From Bluewater Arrested – Name Released

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Bluewater resident with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) and Dangerous Operation following a single vehicle collision into a water hydrant and a failed roadside test on November 28th, 2023. 

On November 28th at approximately 7:30 p.m., Huron County OPP officers, along with members of the Bayfield Fire Department responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Charles Street near Chiniquy Street in the Municipality of Bluewater, Bayfield. The driver and three passengers were not injured in the collision. Damage to the hydrant caused flooding in a nearby residence.

Police spoke with the driver which led to the investigating officer conducting a roadside screening device test on the driver. The roadside breath test resulted in a failure and the driver was placed under arrest. 

The accused provided two suitable breath samples to the Intoxilyzer Technician at the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton, and both tests were found to be over the legal limit. 

Jacqueline BOOK, 44 years of age from Bluewater has been charged with:

–      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus),

–      Dangerous Operation.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 8th, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

50 Year Old From ACW Arrested – Name Released

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township resident with Impaired Driving offences following a traffic stop on Saturday November 18th. 

Huron County OPP were patrolling on Blyth Road in the Municipality of Huron East on November 18th, 2023, at approximately 8:25 p.m. when an officer observed an eastbound motor vehicle cross the centre line of traffic and enter the westbound lane. Police conducted a traffic stop to check the sobriety of the driver.

Police spoke to the driver and determined that they had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody. The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests before an OPP qualified breath technician.

Tracy HEHN, 50 years of age from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80,

–      Dangerous Operation.

The accused was additionally charged with an offence found in the Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 8th, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

61 Year Old From Goderich Arrested – Name Released

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Goderich resident with Impaired driving offences following a traffic stop in Goderich on November 14th, 2023. 

Just before 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14th, Huron County OPP officers were patrolling in the Town of Goderich when they stopped a vehicle on South Street to check the driver’s sobriety. Police spoke to the driver and determined that the driver had been drinking alcohol prior to driving. The investigating officer demanded a breath sample of the driver at the roadside, which resulted in a failure.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Sebringville OPP detachment where they provided further breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over twice the legal limit.

John SORENSEN, 61 years of age from Goderich has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

30 Year Old From Brockton Arrested

(WALKERTON, ON) – On December 7, 2023, at 11:22 p.m., members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. along Yonge Street north in Walkerton when a vehicle stopped. Officers determined that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician for breath tests.

Richard BERBERICH, 30-years-old, from the Municipality of Brockton was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on January 17, 2024, to answer to the charges.

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

Attempt Murder Of 10 Month Old – One Arrested – Name Released

(GREY HIGHLANDS) – One person is custody facing criminal charges in connection with an attempt murder investigation at a home in Grey Highlands.

On December 7, 2023, at approximately 9:45 a.m., members of the Grey Bruce detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for assistance from a home on South Line B.

Upon arrival at the home, police found an unresponsive infant. Officers aided efforts to resuscitate the child. The 10-month-old victim was transported to hospital in London with life-threatening injuries. Members of Grey County Paramedic Services and the Chatsworth Fire Department assisted with the incident response.

Police have charged Nancy BRUBACHER, 30-years-old of Grey Highlands, with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Attempt Murder – section 239 (1)(b)
  • Aggravated Assault – section 268

The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

The Grey Bruce Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

13 Charges For Londoner Caught In ACW

(ASHFIELD_COLBORNE_WAWANOSH TWP, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a London resident with numerous offences following a single-vehicle collision north of Goderich on November 11th, 2023. 

At approximately 2:40 a.m. on Saturday, November 11th, Huron County OPP officers and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch with a possible impaired driver on Bluewater Highway near Market Road in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township. Police attended and searched for the involved driver, who had fled from the scene and hid from police in a wooded area. The driver was eventually located and arrested for impaired operation.

The accused was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment where they refused to provide breath samples to police. While in custody, the accused committed several other criminal offences.

Gregory TETREAU, 57 years-of-age from London has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs,

–      Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand,

–      Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm – (three counts),

–      Resist Peace Officer.

The accused was additionally charged with offences found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA), and the Cannabis Control Act (CCA). A total of 13 charges were laid against the accused.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 11th at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

46 Year Old From ACW Arrested

(ASHFIELD_COLBORNE_WAWANOSH TWP, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township resident with impaired driving offences following a single-vehicle collision north of Goderich on November 10th, 2023. 

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10th, Huron County OPP officers responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch with a possible impaired driver on Bluewater Highway near Nile Road in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township. Police attended and located the driver, who was subsequently arrested for impaired operation. Investigating officers discovered that the driver was also prohibited from driving a motor vehicle.

The accused was transported to the Huron OPP detachment where they provided further breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples provided to police resulted in readings over two times the legal limit.

Leigh PARSONS, 46 years-of-age from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Twp has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80,

–      Operation while Prohibited.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Home Invasion – Nathan MCNICHOL Arrested Again

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On November 28, 2023, at 5:44 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a home invasion along Princes Street south in Kincardine. Officers arrived to find that the homeowner had been injured and the involved person had already left.

As a result of the police investigation, the involved person was identified and taken into custody after a brief struggle with police.

Nathan MCNICHOL, 24-years-old, from the Municipality of West Perth was charged with:

  • Break and Enter
  • Assault with a Weapon – 2 counts
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Dangerous Driving
  • Assault Peace Officer – 2 counts
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order – 2 counts

The accused remains in custody pending the result of their next show cause hearing scheduled for December 8, 2023.

22 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested

(HURON TWP, ON) – On November 30, 2023, at 11:45 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision along Bruce County Road 7 in Huron Township.

Officers responded to find that the vehicle had left the roadway and come to rest in the ditch.

The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician for breath tests.

Jordan OSBORNE, 22-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with:

  • Impaired Driving
  • Operate over 80 milligrams

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on February 14, 2024, to answer to the charges.

There were no injuries reported at the scene.

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

Two More Impaired Drivers Charged

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged two motorists with impaired driving in two days.

  • On December 4, 2023, at 12:44 a.m., a South Bruce OPP officer checked a vehicle along Third Street in Walkerton and found the driver had been drinking alcohol. Airk MACDONALD, 20-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams, Care of Control with Open Liquor and Unauthorized Licence Plates. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on January 10, 2024, to answer to the charges.
  • On December 3, 2023, at 7:47 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received a report of a vehicle stopped on a front lawn along Bruce County Road 6 in Kinloss Township. Officers responded and found the driver had been drinking alcohol.  Fernando DEMELO, 42-years-old, from the Municipality of Huron East was charged with Impaired Driving. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on February 7, 2024, to answer to the charge. 

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

Assault In Goderich

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a complaint of an assault that took place in Goderich on Tuesday November 7th.

On November 7th, 2023, at 3:15 p.m. Huron OPP officers received a report of an assault that had taken place at a business location on Kingston Street in the Town of Goderich at approximately 1:00 p.m. The victim received minor injury from the assault. The suspect was later located, arrested, and charged on November 8th.

Arthur BUDARICK, 34 years-of-age of no fixed address been charged with the following offence:

–      Assault.

The accused was held for a bail court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich and was later released from custody with a later court date.

Another Meth Bust In Goderich

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Goderich resident with Impaired Operation, drug possession offences, and a weapon offence after a complaint was reported to police on Saturday, November 4th

Huron OPP officers were dispatched to a location on Gibbons Street in Goderich at 1:00 a.m. on November 4th. Witnesses observed a person believed to be under the influence seated in the driver’s seat of a vehicle and contacted OPP. Officers located the involved vehicle and spoke to the driver who displayed signs of impairment. Officers had reason to believe that the driver was impaired by drug, and they were subsequently arrested. During the arrest, a prohibited weapon and controlled substances were located on the accused.

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment in Clinton for further tests by an OPP Drug Recognition Expert (D.R.E.).  

Jeffery KITCHEN, 47 years-of-age from Goderich has been charged with the following offences:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs,

–      Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine,

–      Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine,

–      Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused’ driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on December 11th, 2023.

28 Year Old Facing Impaired Charges – GODDARD

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual with Impaired driving offences following a complaint in Goderich on October 30th, 2023. 

Just after 9:45 p.m. on Monday, October 30th, Huron County OPP officers responded to an incident on Courthouse Square in the Town of Goderich. Police attended and spoke to a witness who advised police that an individual had almost hit the witness’s vehicle and drove away. The investigating officers located a vehicle travelling on South Street matching the description provided, and conducted a traffic stop at a residence on Comox Street in Goderich. The driver was subsequently arrested for driving while prohibited. The officer further discovered that the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving, and they were additionally arrested for impaired operation.

The accused then provided further breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Suitable breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over three times the legal limit.

Kalin GODDARD, 28 years of age from no fixed address has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80,

–      Operation while Prohibited.

The accused was additionally charged with an offence found in the Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

School Bus Collision – One Airlifted To Hospital – OPP Finally Issue Press Release

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY TWP, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a collision involving a school bus that occurred on November 28th, 2023, at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Huron County OPP, Huron East Fire Department, and Huron County Paramedic Services were dispatched to the scene of a collision on Clyde Line, south of Bluevale in Morris-Turnberry Township. Upon arrival, emergency services discovered that a school bus had been travelling northbound on Clyde Line and left the roadway, impacting a residential driveway. The bus was transporting seven elementary-aged children that were en route to a Wingham school.

Three of the children on board were injured because of the collision. One child was airlifted to a London hospital due to more serious injuries. The two other children were transported by land ambulance to local hospitals along with the driver, who was treated as a precaution. All injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

Poor weather is believed to be a factor in the collision. Clyde Line was closed after the collision for several hours between Cardiff Road and Browntown Road to allow for emergency services and bus removal.

The investigation is ongoing.
