16 Year Old Charged For Driving Before 5am – Large Amount Of Cannabis

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A young driver and their passenger are facing charges after a traffic stop in the Municipality of North Perth.

On December 10 2020, just before 2:00 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a vehicle for speeding on Perth Line 86, in the Municipality of North Perth. During the investigation, a large quantity of cannabis was located, and it was determined the Class G1 driver was driving at a time when they are not permitted, which is between midnight at 5:00 a.m. for novice drivers.

As a result, a 16-year-old resident of Northern Bruce Peninsula has been charged with:

  • Speeding 1-49km/h over posted limit
  • Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
  • Class G1 Licence Holder – Drive at Unlawful Hour

Also, the passenger, a 36-year-old resident of Northern Bruce Peninsula, was charged with:

  • Have Care of Control Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis In Open Baggage

The accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

$80,000 Drug Bust In North Perth – Names Released

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Two people are facing charges after a large quantity of drugs were seized in the Municipality of North Perth.

On December 18 2020 members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Perth Line 72, in the Municipality of North Perth. Shortly after 10:00 p.m., a vehicle containing a large quantity of cannabis entered the program. Along with the cannabis, police also located shatter, gummies and drug trafficking paraphernalia. The estimated value of the seized items is approximately $80,000. The driver and passenger were both arrested and charged.

As a result, Peter BRENNAN, 39, of Wellesley, was charged, and held in custody pending a bail hearing for the offences of:

  • Possessing Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling
  • Possession for the Purpose of Distributing

Also, Ronald KEESO, 56, of Wellesley, was charged and released for the offences of:

  • Possessing Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling
  • Possession for the Purpose of Distributing

The accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Horse Runs Into Vehicle

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On Saturday, December 19, 2020, at approximately 7:04 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Oxford County Detachment investigated a collision at a Highway 59, Norwich Township address.

It has been determined that at approximately 6;00 p.m., a motor vehicle was travelling on Highway 59 between New road and Ninth Road when a horse ran into the side of  the vehicle. The horse then fled from the area in an unknown direction, so it is not known in the animal suffered any injuries. The damage to the vehicle is estimated at over $2,000.

Police are urging all drivers to expect the unexpected and to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Drivers need to focus their attention on their driving ability and avoid any unnecessary distractions.

“It’s not always possible to avoid a collision with an animal, particularly if it suddenly runs or flies onto the road. But drivers can take sensible precautions to minimize the risk of a collision. Motorists are being urged to drive with caution and within the speed limit and to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Goderich Methamphetamine Bust – Name Released

(GODERICH, ON) – A recent traffic stop in Goderich has resulted in a drug trafficking charge being laid against a Goderich resident. 

On Saturday, December 12, 2020 at approximately 10:11 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a known suspended driver travelling westbound on Huron Road. A traffic stop was conducted and a check on the driver indeed confirmed the driver was driving with two valid driver’s licence suspensions.  

The driver was arrested and a search incident to arrest resulted in police finding suspected methamphetamine and drug trafficking materials. 

As a result, Jeoffrey JEWER, 54 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Trafficking a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine and Driving While Under Suspension – 2 Counts. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 22, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Fatal Snowplow Collision Update – Name Of 19 Year Old Deceased Released

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision involving a car and a snowplow south of Mitchell.

Just before 8:30 p.m. on December 19 2020, the Perth County OPP, Perth County Paramedic Service, and the West Perth Fire Department responded to a collision at the intersection of Perth Road 164 (Highway 23) and Line 32, just south of Mitchell.

The initial investigation has determined that a car travelling westbound on Line 32 and a snowplow travelling northbound on Road 164 collided at the intersection. This intersection is controlled by a stop sign in the east and west directions.

The driver of the car was transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced deceased. The driver has since been identified as Kylie MCBETH, 19, of Moorefield.

A passenger of the car was also transported to local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the snowplow was not injured.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team assisted with the investigation. The areas surrounding Perth Road 164 was closed for the investigation, but have since reopened.

Break And Enter At Columbus Centre – Suspect(s) At Large

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are actively investigating a break, enter and theft that took place this weekend in Wingham.

Sometime between 5:30 p.m. on Friday, December 18th and 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19th, 2020 a thief stole $180 cash and a canvass bag from an office located within the Columbus Centre located on Kerr Drive in Wingham.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again – MILLS

(HURON EAST, ON) – A South Huron resident wanted for shoplifting was taken into custody by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers over the weekend. 

Just after 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2020 Huron County OPP officers were patrolling in Vanastra on 12th Street when they came upon a suspect attempting to hide from the officers. Officers were eventually able to detain the suspect and it became apparent to the officers the suspect was wanted in connection with some recent shoplifting incidents. 

Over the last few weeks the accused stole bottles of liquor from businesses in Exeter and Clinton on three separate occasions. 

Bradley MILLS, 32 years of age from South Huron has been charged with the following offences: Resist Peace Officer, Fail to Comply With Probation Order – seven counts and Theft Under $5,000 – three counts. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 25, 2021.

BOLO Stolen Ford F150 Plate: AA21889

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On December 17, 2020 at 7:08 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the theft of a (grey) 2019 Ford F150 Super Crew Cab with the attached Ontario licence plate #AA21889, from a residence at Highway 10 in Holland Centre, Chatsworth.

The truck was last seen driving northbound on Highway 10 on December 17th at 6:00 p.m.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance to locate this stolen truck. If you observe the truck call police and report it.

17 Year Old Going 174kph Past Clinton OPP Detachment Charged

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Not that there is a good spot to speed but speeding in front of a police station certainly isn’t a wise move as one young driver from the Meaford area recently found out.

On December 6, 2020 at approximately 12:12 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling northbound on Albert Street when he spotted a minivan ahead speeding right in front of the Huron County OPP Detachment. A RADAR device was used to confirm the speed of the van and it was observed to be initially travelling at 85 km/h in the 50 km/h zone. The officer continued tracking the speed of the vehicle as it proceeded out of Clinton. The driver continued to accelerate and the vehicle’s speed reached a high of 174 km/h in the posted 90 km/h zone.

A traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle was stopped north of Clinton. The driver, a 17-year-old from Meaford has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform a Stunt. He will now have to attend court on January 5, 2021 at Provincial Offences Court in Goderich.

64 Year Old From North Perth Arrested Following Ongoing Incident – Name Released

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person is facing charges following an ongoing dispute between two people in the Municipality of North Perth.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted on December 08 2020, when it was reported that the one person involved in the dispute had threatened the other. The investigation revealed that the person had also obstructed, interrupted, or interfered with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property, which is a type of mischief.

As a result, William ANTHONY, 64, of North Perth, has been charged with:

  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Mischief – Obstructs, interrupts, or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Repeat Offender From Clifford Arrested Following Stabbing In Guelph – Names Released

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On December 16, 2020, at approximately 9:50 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence on Highway 6 north of the City of Guelph.

Initial investigation revealed that a physical altercation took place between three individuals. During this altercation, one party was injured as a result of an edged weapon. The victim drove themselves to a local hospital where they were treated for serious non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested two suspects near the scene.

It was determined that the victim and the suspects were known to each other and there is no threat to public safety.

Rudolfo REDA, 62-years-old of Clifford has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Fail to Comply with Release Order contrary to the Criminal Code.

Beverly TOMLINSON, 59-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Assault contrary to the Criminal Code.

Both accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice-Guelph on January 22, 2021 to answer to the charges.

Wingham Wipeout In Front Of Police Ends With Drunk Driving Charge- Name Released

(WINGHAM, ON) – A resident of Wingham is facing a criminal charge of Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus following an incident that took place in Wingham.

On December 4, 2020 at approximately 12:20 a.m. two Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were parked at the fire hall in Wingham when they observed a male driving a mini dirt bike northbound on Josephine Street. While watching the driver, officers observed him lose control of the dirt bike to the point he laid the bike down and skidded on the pavement.   

The driver then got up and tried to get back on his dirt bike but by then officers had intercepted the driver. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver. A roadside test was administered and the driver registered a fail on the approved screening device.

He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment in Clinton. He later provided two samples of breath to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit.

Michael WHITELOCK, 32 years of age from Wingham has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 18, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Arrested In Listowel With Methamphetamine – Name Released

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A traffic stop in the Municipality of North Perth resulted in a wanted person facing additional charges.

On December 06 2020, just before 8:00 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on general patrol stopped a vehicle on Elizabeth Street West, Listowel. Upon speaking to the occupants, it was found that there was an outstanding arrest warrant for one of the passengers. The passenger was arrested, and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and was failing to comply with a release order.

As a result, Amy Lynn VAN, 37, of North Perth, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Another Passed Out Driver Arrested – Name Released

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) – On December 16, 2020, at approximately 4:00 p.m. a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the occupant of a motor vehicle just off Roszell Road in Puslinch Township. The person was sitting in the driver’s seat of the motor vehicle and appeared to be asleep when the officer approached.

Police woke up the driver and while speaking with them, detected an odour of alcohol on their breath. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

An opened container of alcohol was also located inside the vehicle.

George EMERY, 56-years-old of Hespler has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code and Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle With an Open Container of Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on January 12, 2021 to answer to the charges.
