5 Vehicle Collision – One Impaired Charge

(CARRICK TWP, ON) – On November 26, 2021 at 7:26 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a multi-vehicle collision along Highway 9 in Carrick Township. Officers responded with members of the Mildmay-Carrick Fire Department and Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to find 5 vehicles involved.

One of the involved drivers was found to have been drinking alcohol.

Tyler O’GORMAN, 35-years-old, from the Municipality of Brockton was charged with Impaired Driving and Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on January 12, 2022 to answer to the charges.

Two people were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

Clinton Hit & Run – 16 Year Old Sent To Hospital – SNELL Arrested

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate a collision involving a pedestrian that was struck and injured today in Clinton.

At approximately 11:42 a.m. Huron County OPP officers and paramedics from Huron County Paramedic Services responded to an automobile and pedestrian collision located on Ontario Street (Highway 8) near Smith Street North in Clinton. Upon arrival first responders located an injured pedestrian on the roadway that had been struck by an eastbound car. 

The injured pedestrian, a 16-year-old, from Huron East was transported from the scene to a hospital where he is currently receiving care for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the car initially failed to remain at the scene of the collision however she later attended the Huron OPP Detachment where she was arrested and charged.

Kaylee SNELL, 19 years of age, from Central Huron has been charged with:

·        Fail to Stop at Accident Resulting in Bodily Harm

·        Fail to Remain

·        Driving While Under Suspension

·        Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 7, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice.

Fatal House Fire In Meaford

(MEAFORD, ON) – On November 27, 2021, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Grey County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), the Inter Township Fire Department and the Chatsworth Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on the 10th concession in the Municipality of Meaford.

Emergency crews arrived on scene and began battling a fully engulfed residential fire. One individual was removed from the residence and pronounced deceased on scene. Their identity is being withheld pending a next of kin notification.

Emergency crews remain on scene, and the investigation is continuing with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario (OCCO) and the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM).

Weapons Bust In Mitchell – MEAD & BOLT

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Two people were charged following a traffic stop in the Municipality of West Perth last week.

On November 18 2021, just before 4:30 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on general patrol on St. David Street, Mitchell, observed a person violating their bail conditions.

A traffic stop was conducted, and a firearm and crossbow were observed in the vehicle. Two occupants of the vehicle were prohibited from possessing any firearms, and were arrested.

Ryan MEAD, 33, of no fixed address, has been charged with:

–       Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (two counts)

–       Failure to Comply with Undertaking (two counts)

Also, Chad BOLT, 48, of West Perth, has been charged with:

–       Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (two counts)

The accused parties were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Ryanal ERB Arrested Again

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person was charged after they caused mischief to a member of the public’s property.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted at 10:30 a.m. on November 18 2021, after an individual was seen on private property causing damage.

Police arrived on scene moments later and arrested the suspect. During the arrest, the suspect assaulted an officer. No serious injuries were reported as a result of the assault.

Ryanal ERB, 39, of no fixed address, has been charged with:

–       Mischief Under $5000

–       Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest

–       Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Impaired Driver Charged Following Collision

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A resident of Woodbridge has been arrested and charged with Impaired Operation following a collision investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Just before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021 Huron County Paramedic Services and Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision located on Mount Carmel Drive at Grand Bend Line. Upon arrival first responders located a hatchback off the roadway in the ditch. Upon speaking with the driver at the hospital officers noted the driver had consumed some alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. As such the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation. Two breath tests were later supplied to the Intoxilizer Technician and they were both found to be above the legal limit.

Viera PAPCUNOVA, 59 years of age from Woodbridge has been charged with Operation While Impaired & Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 20, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Mischief In Listowel

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Police are investigating after a number of locations around a Listowel park were vandalized last week.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. on November 18 2021, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of graffiti spray painted around the Listowel Memorial Park, and nearby buildings, in the Municipality of North Perth.

At least four different spots were spray painted with purple and black paint, mostly derogatory and insulting words and comments.

The Perth County OPP would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed these incidents, or who has any information.

30 Year Old From Hensall Arrested

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On November 24, 2021 at 1:18 a.m., Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were performing a RIDE Program on Richmond Street, Middlesex Centre.

As a result, Stephen TROYER, a 30-year-old of Hensall, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

·      Drive motor vehicle with speed measuring warning device, section 79(2) of the Highway Traffic Act

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on December 23, 2021 to speak to the charges.

38 Year Old Arrested For Impaired Driving

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On November 17, 2021, just before 7:00 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a motor vehicle driving erratically on Line 34 heading towards the Municipality of West Perth. Police located the vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated. After speaking with police, the motor vehicle driver was arrested for impaired driving.

Matthew ANDERSON, a 38-year-old resident of Mitchell, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused in this matter was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute to the accused.

RIDDELL Arrested

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On November 11, 2021 just after 10:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to report of a dispute at an address in the Township of Perth East.

Police attended the area of Byron Street in Shakespeare where an investigation revealed that an incident of mischief had occurred. 

Michael RIDDELL, a 27-year-old resident of New Hamburg, was arrested and charged with:

  • Mischief – Interfere with Lawful Use, Enjoyment, or operation of Property – Under $5000

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date.

29 Year Old Arrested For Impaired Driving

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On November 11, 2021, just after 9:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision in the area of Ontario Street in Municipality of West Perth. It was determined that one vehicle driver had crashed into a vehicle that was parked. After speaking with police, the driver was arrested for impaired driving.

As a result, Kelly RUBY-FISCHER, 29, of Stratford, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused in this matter was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge. COVID-19 Immunization System Breached

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Cybercrime Investigations Team has arrested two individuals in relation to a security breach of the COVID-19 immunization system.

On November 17, 2021, the OPP was asked to investigate after the Ontario government received reports of spam text messages from a number of individuals who had scheduled appointments or accessed vaccine certificates through the COVID-19 immunization system.

On November 22, 2021, OPP members executed search warrants, one in Quebec with the support of Sûreté du Québec, and the second in Ottawa. Several devices, computers and laptops were seized.

As a result of the search warrants executed on November 22, 2021, the following criminal charges have been laid:

  • 21-year-old Ayoub SAYID, of Gloucester, Ontario, has been arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Computer contrary to s. 342.1(1)(c) of the Criminal Code. SAYID is an employee of the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services – Vaccine Contact Centre.
  • 22-year-old Rahim ABDU of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec, has been arrested with assistance from Sûreté du Québec and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Computer contrary to s. 342.1(1)(c) of the Criminal Code.

The accused have been released from custody and will be scheduled to appear in court.

19 Year Old Facing Careless Driving Charge

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On November 7, 2021 just before 4:00 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on Perth Road 164 near Line 78 in the Municipality of North Perth.

Jacob WALKER, a 19-year-old resident of Mitchell, was charged with:

  • Careless Driving

There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision.

21 Year Old Arrested In Belgrave

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Huron resident with Impaired Operation following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last week. 

At approximately 11:40 p.m. on November 18, 2021 a Huron County OPP officer was patrolling in Belgrave when he observed the accused driving in an erratic manner. A traffic stop was conducted on Queen’s Street and while speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the accused was displaying several signs of impairment. 

The accused was arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to the London OPP Detachment for a Drug Recognition Evaluation. Upon completion of the evaluation the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) deemed the driver to be impaired by a drug. 

Ashlyn DEJONG, 21 years of age, from North Huron been charged with Operation While Impaired. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 10 2022, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

OPP Cruiser Involved In Collision

(ELDERSLIE TWP, ON) – On November 18, 2021 at 9:41 a.m., an on duty South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on general patrol along Bruce County Road 3 was involved in a two vehicle collision, when an eastbound passenger vehicle entered the intersection at Bruce County Road 40 and struck the northbound police cruiser. 

Grey-Bruce OPP officer, South Bruce OPP officers, members of the Chesley and Area Fire Department and Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the scene. 

Both the officer, and the other driver, were assessed at a local hospital and released.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 36-year-old resident of Markham, was charged with Careless Driving.

Bruce County Road 3 and Bruce County Road 40 were closed at the incident location for the protection of emergency responders. The roadways have since re-opened to traffic.
