Theft Of Bicycle From Unlocked Garage

(ST.MARYS, ON) On Wednesday April 30, 2014, a St. John St. South resident contacted the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), to report the theft of a mountain bike from his garage.

Investigation revealed that sometime between Saturday evening April 26, and Wednesday evening April 30, 2014, an unknown suspect entered the detached garage on the residential property. Entry into the garage was gained by means of an unlocked man-door located on the side of the building.

The bicycle is a Royal Blue coloured, 2006 specialized “Hardrock” man’s mountain bike, with front shocks, and disc brakes. The bike has an odometer on the handle bars, and a black mount for a flashlight. The bike is valued at $1,000.

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of this bike or having information about this theft is requested to contact the Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), you could be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.

Man Arrested for Numerous Acts of Graffiti

The Owen Sound Police Service has concluded another investigation into acts of unsightly graffiti in the City’s downtown core area.

This investigation involved the graffiti tag “LOOT” and “LOOT – TFY” which had been spray painted and written on several businesses, signs, government buildings and public areas. The identification of the accused resulted from information provided by citizens and diligent police work from the Uniform Branch and the Criminal Investigation Branch.

On Friday morning, members of the Criminal Investigation Branch took the accused into custody and seized additional evidence in the case.

A 25 year old man from the City of Owen Sound has been charged with Mischief in connection with numerous acts of graffiti. He will appear in court on June 5th to answer to the charges.

Colleen SMITH – St. Mary’s Shoplifting Spree

(ST.MARYS, ON) – On Thursday May 01, 2014, shortly before the noon hour, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers in St.Marys were contacted by a local merchant. The merchant reported having a female in his store who he suspected of stealing merchandise at an earlier date. The female left the store and was seen driving off in a van.

A short time later, officers located the female and the van at the St.Marys Canadian Tire parking lot. She was arrested and found to be in possession of a large number of stolen items. The items in her vehicle had been shoplifted from St.Marys and area businesses. Officers contacted five business owners that were identified as victims. The owners were able to identify their property and confirmed that the items had been stolen from their businesses earlier in the day. The stolen goods ranged from garden furniture, electronics, plants, paint and other hardware items.

Colleen SMITH (51), a Hamilton resident, has been charged with five counts of “theft under $5,000”, and five counts of “possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000”, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on May 26, 2014 to answer to these charges.

Hatem ALOBAIDI – 174 in a 100

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On May 1, 2014, a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting RADAR enforcement on Highway 401 near Orford Road.

Just before 9:30 p.m., the officer observed an eastbound Dodge car that appeared to be exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr. The RADAR registered a speed of 174 km/hr.

Hatem ALOBAIDI, age 24, from St. Marie, ON has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Speeding by 50 or More Kilometres Per Hour, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The driver’s licence has been suspended and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days, as per statute.

Cindy VINCE – Drunk Driving

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On April 26, 2014 at approximately 3:10 a.m. an officer from the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a possible impaired driver travelling on Highway 400 in Seguin Township. Initial investigation led to the arrest of the driver and she was consequently brought to an OPP detachment to provide a breath sample for analysis.

Cindy VINCE, 44 years of age from Seguin Township was charged with Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. She will appear before the Ontario Court Of Justice Parry Sound on May 15, 2014 to answer to her charge.

1,250 Cartons Of Contraband Cigarettes Seized

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On April 17, 2014 members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) on Highway 69 in Archipelago Township. At approximately 11:40 p.m. officers noticed a pick-up truck that looked heavily weighed down at the rear. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the back of the truck contained 25 cases of contraband cigarettes. Each case contained 50 cartons, 200 cigarettes per carton. The three occupants of the vehicle were arrested and charged under the Tobacco Tax Act.

Daryl PRICE, 51 years of age, Sheena DUCZEK, 29 years of age, and Niomi PRANTEAU, 42 years of age, all from Manitoba were charged with the following offences:

– Possession of unmarked cigarettes for the purpose of sale

– Possession of unmarked cigarettes

The three individuals charged will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Parry Sound on June 24, 2014.

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG CHARGES

(MATTAWA, ON) – Members of the Mattawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have charged two males with drug offences. The charges stem from a traffic stop on Highway 17, Papineau-Cameron Township. The subsequent investigation led to the seizure of approximately 14 pounds of marihuana. The incident occurred on May 1, 2014 at approximately 9:09 a.m.

The driver, 51-year-old Ronald MAHOMED of La Chute, Quebec was charged with:

Possession of a Schedule II substance for purpose of Trafficking- over 3 kg contrary to section 5(2) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

The passenger, 33-year-old, Eric SMITH of Pointe-Calumet, Quebec was charged with the following:

Obstruct Peace Officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC);
Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 contrary to section 354(1)(b) CCC;
Possession of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking-over 3 kg, contrary to section 5(2) CDSA.

Both accused were held for bail and are scheduled to appear in North Bay Provincial Court of Justice on May 2, 2014.

SCHOOL BUS COLLISION

(BRIGHTON, ON) – Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently on scene of a single motor vehicle collision on Telephone Road east of County Road 30 in the Municipality of Brighton involving a school bus .

OPP are investigating a school bus into the south ditch on Telephone Road between Middle Ridge Road and Scriver Road. The school bus was transporting 16 children and went off the road at approximately 7:53 am today. The 71 year old male driver is being transported to hospital for medical concerns and seven children are being transported for non-life threatening injuries.

The school bus was en-route to Trenton Christian School and continuing on to Quinte Christian School.

The OPP Central Region Traffic Team has been notified and may assist as the investigation into this collision continues.

Pierre RICHARD – 3X Assault, Uttering Threats

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON.) – Members of the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a local man with several criminal offences. The charges stem from disturbances that occurred in Kirkland Lake during the month of April. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the accused.

Charged is Pierre RICHARD age 25 of Kirkland Lake with three counts of Assault, Uttering Threats, Mischief Under $5,000 and two counts of Failing to Comply with a Probation Order. The accused was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.

Guelph and Woodstock Police co-ordinate Project VEGAS

A drug trafficking investigation between The Guelph Police Service and Woodstock Police Service dubbed “Project Vegas” came to a successful conclusion on April 30, 2014, after several months of investigation.

As a result of the investigation, eight search warrants were executed within the cities of Guelph, Woodstock and Waterloo.

Nine people have been arrested and charged in relation to the investigation thus far.

Jay LAMBERT, age 33 of Guelph has been charged with seven counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of a controlled substance and possession of property obtained by crime.

Brandon WILSON, age 33 of Woodstock has been charged with four counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Leesha MORGAN, age 28 of Woodstock has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Michael COTRONEO, age 32 of Guelph has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled for the purpose of trafficking.

Bartlomiej ZWOLINSKI, age 30 of Guelph has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Kordian ZWOLINSKI, age 31 of Guelph has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Chad DUFFET, age 30 of Guelph has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Lorenzo GRUOSSO, age 31 of Guelph has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon.

Beata ROGOWSKA, age 29 of Guelph has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon.

The investigation resulted in the seizure of cocaine with a street value of over $100,000, a large quantity of Canadian currency, a 2005 Honda Civic and marihuana with a street value of approximately $4000.

The investigation is ongoing.

Seized currency and drugs will be displayed for media viewing at 1 p.m. today at the Guelph Police headquarters, 15 Wyndham Street South.

Kevin INGLIS – Drunk Driving

On May 1, 2014 at 11:32 p.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle for speeding southbound on the Hanlon Expressway south of Wellington Street West. The driver was spoken too and subsequently administered a roadside screening test. The driver registered a FAIL and was arrested.

Kevin INGLIS, 47 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 milligrams and will appear in Court on May 20, 2014.

Domestic assault

Date: Thursday, May 1, 2014 – 9:00pm
Barrie Police were called to a John St apartment for a domestic dispute between a couple.

Police were told the pair began to argue when the female went to the kitchen and picked up a large knife.

She returned and threw the knife at the male, striking his hand and causing a deep cut.

Police located the 40 year old female and arrested her for assault with a weapon.

She was transported to the Barrie Police Service for a bail hearing.

The male suffered a small wound to his hand and was treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital and released.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this incident.
