(COLLINGWOOD, ONTARIO) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating the theft of a motor vehicle from a residence in Collingwood.

The theft took place on the 24th of June 2014 between the hours 10:00am and 1:20pm where an SUV was stolen from a private driveway of a residence on Minnesota Street in the Town of Collingwood. The vehicle is described as a silver colored 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe with an Ontario plate of BALP 157.

(DRYDEN, ON.) -On June 24, 2014 at approximately 11:46am the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD) observed a motor vehicle at a high rate of speed, 146km/h in a 90km/h zone on Highway 17 Southworth Township. The officers attempted to stop the motor vehicle at which point the driver failed to stop for police. A pursuit was initiated and a short time later, the driver eventually stopped for police. He has been arrested and charged with Danger operation of a motor vehicle contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code, Flight while pursued by Peace officer contrary to section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code, stunt driving contrary to section 172 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act and Possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to section 94 of the Criminal Code.

The driver, Nathan SWIDERSKI (23years old) of Selkirk Manitoba will be held in custody pending a bail hearing on June 25, 2014 in Dryden. His vehicle has been impounded for seven days and his driver’s license has been suspended for seven days.

(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – On Monday, June 23, 2014, Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated multiple thefts from vehicles in the Township of Chatsworth.

Sometime overnight on Sunday, June 22nd, unknown person(s) were responsible for entering at least 5 unlocked vehicles in and around the village of Chatsworth. Three wallets had been removed from the vehicles; the contents of which were strewn about the area. Some of the property was recovered by pedestrians and turned over to police.

(HALIBURTON, ON) – The Criminal Investigations Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haliburton Highlands Detachment is currently investigating several incidents that have been reported to the police. Between August 03, 2013 and May 16, 2014 OPP have responded to six separate 911 calls where an unknown male has contacted police regarding bomb threats or weapons calls throughout various locations in Haliburton County. To date, all calls have been unfounded and have utilized significant police resources in their response and investigations.

The OPP is requesting the public’s assistance and asking that anyone with information pertaining to any of these incidents, contact the Haliburton Highlands OPP. (CALEDON, ON) – On June 22, 2014 shortly before 1:50 am, a concerned citizen contacted the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report an impaired driver operating a Ford Edge on Airport Road. The witness reported that the driver had entered a ditch then drove out of the ditch and continued northbound on Airport Road. Officers located the vehicle and observed as the vehicle was swerving within the lane. Subsequently, the officer activated the vehicle’s emergency equipment and conducted a vehicle stop at the intersection of Airport Road and Leamster Trail. Immediately upon speaking with the female driver, the officer detected a strong odour of alcohol on her breath. As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to Detachment to determine the level of blood alcohol in her system.

In conclusion, Catherine ALESSANDRINI, 49, from Brampton was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Over 80.

The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and her motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to make her first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 10, 2014.

(CALEDON, ON) – On June 21, 2014 shortly after 2:30 am, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was travelling in the Village of Bolton when he observed a Ford pick-up truck stopped at the intersection of Regional Road 50 and King Street East. The officer noticed that the vehicle was left unattended in a live lane. Upon approaching the intersection, the officers observed as a male entered the vehicle. Subsequently, the officer conducted a vehicle stop at the intersection of Ann Street and Sterne Street. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer immediately detected a strong odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. As a result, the driver was given the demand to produce a sample of his breath into an approved screening device. After registered a fail on the device, the male was transported to Detachment to determine the level of blood alcohol in his system.

As a result of the traffic stop, Adam Michael PERRI, 22, of Caledon was arrested and charged with Over 80.

The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 3, 2014.

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) On May 31, 2014 Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted about some vandalism that was done the front of The Brick store in the town of Huntsville. Lights were damaged on the building along with a portion of the sign. It was obvious the culprits had been on the roof.

As part of the investigation Huntsville OPP had obtained information of a video at a nearby store and observed 7 individuals descending from the roof on the same night. Huntsville OPP are asking the public that if they can identify any of the persons in the attached photos so that they may be spoken to in regards to the mischief. (TOWN OF MINTO, ON) -On June 21, 2014, at approximately 8:52 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a male driving a motor assisted bicycle on Margaret Street, Harriston. Upon further inspection, the officer believed the vehicle to be a motor vehicle. This male was not to be operating a motor vehicle because of a court order. He was arrested for breaching his Recognizance Order and transported to the North Wellington Operations Centre.

The male was also a suspended driver and did not have insurance on the motor vehicle.

Vernon WARD age 46 of Harriston is charged with;

Driver While Under Suspension-Highway Traffic Act
Operate Motor Vehicle Without Insurance-Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

He was held for a bail hearing on the June 23, 2014.
