Michael MIREAULT – Impaired Driving

(MACHIN, ON) – Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Dryden OPP Detachment, arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation and possession of unmarked cigarettes.  

On July 25,2024, at approximately10:30 p.m., officers completed a traffic stop of vehicle closely resembling an overdue motorist report. It turned out not to be the overdue motorist, investigation determined that the driver of the motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and drug and was in possession of unmarked cigarettes. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Michael MIREAULT, 47-years-old, of Vermilion Bay, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Possess Unmarked Cigarettes

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on September 16, 2024.

Lexus MCKAY – Break & Enter, Assault With Weapon

(RED LAKE, ON) – A Red Lake resident is facing numerous weapons related charges.

On July 29,2024, and at approximately 7:15 a.m., officers with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of an armed individual who had barricaded themselves inside a cabin at Sportsman’s Lodge on Little Vermillion Lake.

Just before 2:00 p.m., and with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, Crisis Negotiators, and the Red Lake Detachment Crime Unit, one individual was safely arrested. The individual was later transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services for further assessment.

As a result, Lexus MCKAY, 25-years-old, of Red Lake, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Assault with A Weapon
  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Reckless discharge of firearm – life or safety
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property
  • Pointing a Firearm

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora at a later date.

66 Year Old From ACW Deceased

(GODERICH, ON) – On July 31st, 2024, at approximately 11:50 a.m., Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services, Goderich Fire Department and the Canadian Coast Guard (JRCC Trenton) attended the Goderich pier for a report of an unconscious person in the water.

The individual was located by the Canadian Coast Guard and transported to the Goderich Hospital where they were pronounced deceased after extensive life-saving efforts by emergency responders and hospital staff. Officers investigated to find out more information about this individual’s identity. Some time later, a family member reported their loved one missing and the deceased individual was identified as a 66-year-old female from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township.

Police are working with the Office of the Chief Coroner to determine the cause of their death.

Caily MCDONALD – Cocaine, Drive While Suspended, Etc.

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Traffic complaint of possible impaired driver from a good Samaritan, leads to multiple charges for London driver.

On July 29, 2024, at 7:38 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to Richmond Street in Middlesex Centre for the report of a possible impaired driver.

Officers located the vehicle south of Elginfield Road on Richmond Street and performed a traffic stop.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where further tests were administered by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

As a result, Caily MCDONALD, a 36-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – drugs

·      Obstruct Peace Officer

·      Poss of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

·      Driving while under suspension

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on September 13, 2024.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

Matthew PRITCHARD – Theft, Drugs, Etc.

(HURON-KINLOSS, ON) – On July 31, 2024, at 6:47 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft of a motor vehicle.

Police attended Hayes Lake Road in the Township of Huron- Kinloss and located the stolen vehicle. An officer on patrol located the individual responsible for the theft.

As a result of the investigation, Matthew PRITCHARD, 39-years-old from Huron-Kinloss, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Possession of Schedule 1 CDSA
  • Theft over $5000
  • Possession of Property over $5000
  • Mischief

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Russell GEEN – Dangerous Operation

(TYENDINAGA TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with impaired driving related offences.

On July 29, 2024, just before 6:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Moneymore Road in Tyendinaga Township. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the driver, who was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

No injuries were sustained.

As a result, Russell GEEN, age 61, of Tyendinaga Township was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on August 20, 2024.

Derek SKINNER – Drunk Driving

(HURON-KINLOSS, ON) – Driver arrested for Impaired driving after South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped motorist on Concession 12 in the Township Huron-Kinloss.

On July 30, 2024, at 11:29 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Concession 12, in the Township of Huron-Kinloss.

The driver was found to have been under the influence of alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a qualified breath technician.

Derek SKINNER, 54-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired -over 80

Drug Bust – Names Released

(DRYDEN, ON) – An investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Dryden OPP Detachment, has led to charges being laid against three people.

On July 25, 2024, just after 11:00 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted on Highway 17 in the Municipality of Machin of a previously reported stolen vehicle. The investigation resulted in the arrest of three people. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl and hydromorphone, morphine as well as other drug paraphernalia.    

As a result of the investigation, the following charges were laid.

Reuben STONEY, 33 years old, of Fort Severn First Nation, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of Property obtained by Crime over $5000
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order – two counts

Brittney RIPLEY, 29 years old, of Dryden, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of Property obtained by Crime over $5000
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

Sean FLETT, 29 years old, of Machin, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of Property obtained by Crime over $5000
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

One accused was released on undertaking and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice August 26, 2024. Other two accused have been held in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice July 31, 2024, and August 02, 2024.

2 Facing Drug Charges

(DRYDEN, ON) – An investigation led by Dryden OPP Detachment, has led to charges being laid against two Manitoba residents.

On July 27,2024, just prior to 1:00 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted on Highway 17 by Bedworth Road, after an officer observed vehicle being driven erratically. During the investigation, officers searched the vehicle under the Cannabis Control Act, where a quantity of suspected illicit drugs, drug paraphernalia and cash were located.

As a result of the investigation Adam LEPP, 30-years-old, of Vassar, MB has been charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Highway Traffic Act & Liquor License Act with the following offences:

·        Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

·        Distribute over 30g of dried cannabis

·        Distribute one or more cannabis plants

·        Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

·        Pass-roadway not clear – approaching traffic

·        Drive left of center – approaching crest of grade

·        Drive motor vehicle – no license

·        Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

Additionally, Candace DOKKEN, 36-years-old, of Vassar, MB has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following offence:

·        Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

·        Distribute over 30g of dried cannabis

·        Distribute one or more cannabis plants

The accused individuals have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 9, 2024, in Dryden.

Andrew FROST Arrested Again

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) – On July 29 at approximately 11:00 pm members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a suspicious vehicle call for service on County Road 4 in Prince Edward County. As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

Andrew FROST, age 46 of Deseronto has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on August 21, 2024.

The accused’s licence is suspended for 90 days and vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Two Arrested

(CHIPPEWAS OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – Traffic stop leads to multiple charges for two individuals from London.

On July 27, 2024, at approximately 4:29 p.m., a member of the Oneida Nation Police, while travelling through Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, observed a suspicious vehicle on Antler River Road.

As the officer approached the vehicle on the narrow road, the suspect vehicle collided with the cruiser. The suspect vehicle subsequently struck a tree as it attempted to flee in the opposite direction.

Two occupants were placed under arrest.

Investigation revealed the vehicle had previously been reported as stolen out of Elgin County.

As a result, the driver, Justin KICKS, a 35-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:

  • Flight from peace officer
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada
  • Dangerous operation
  • Assault A Peace Officer with a weapon
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Poss of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Poss of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin) (two counts)

The accused was wanted by a municipal police service and was held for bail.

The passenger, Candas PARDAENS, a 38-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada
  • Poss of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Poss of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin) (two counts)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on September 20, 2024, to speak to the charges.

There were no injuries.

Chantelle PETIT Was Arrested Again

(DRYDEN, ON) – An investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Dryden OPP Detachment, has led to charges being laid against a local resident.

On July 23, 2024, just prior to 9:00 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted on Mary Avenue in the City of Dryden. The investigation resulted in the arrest of a Zealand Twp resident and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine, fentanyl and hydromorphone as well as Canadian currency and evidence of drug trafficking.  

As a result of the investigation, Chantelle PETIT, 32 years old, of Zealand Twp, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused has been held in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice July 31, 2024.

Joshua CRONKWRIGHT – Was Arrested

(PICTON, ON) – Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have charged an individual with firearms offences.

On May 20, 2024, shortly after 2:00 a.m., officers were called to an address on Union Street in Picton where a firearm had been discharged and one individual was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. 

Joshua CRONKWRIGHT, age 30 from Prince Edward County was charged with the following offences:

  • Careless use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Public mischief 

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on July 31, 2024.

Message From Heffer “You Pieces of Sh*t” Alice Munro Scandal Spiraling Out Of Control #StandYourGround

(North Huron, ON) – The quaint little town of North Huron has found itself tangled in a scandal that could only be rivaled by a soap opera on a particularly melodramatic day. Local council, led by none other than the illustrious Paul Heffer, has decided to take a bold stance on the age-old tradition of delivering public service: the good ol’ “let’s do absolutely nothing” approach. This unprecedented maneuver has not only left the citizens scratching their heads but has also inspired local businesses to fly “F Paul Heffer” flags in a spectacular act of civil rebellion. Because, remember folks, silence is golden, unless you’re a hometown council member in North Huron, then it’s just mandatory.

In a genuine display of democracy in action, the North Huron council recently moved to remove questions and comments from their meetings. Because who needs pesky citizen input when you have the glorious title of “council member” to cloud your judgment? This pivotal decision was spearheaded by our very own Paul Heffer, who apparently believes that facing public scrutiny is far worse than playing a riveting game of “let’s pretend the citizens don’t exist.”

Rumor has it that Buck & Jo’s, the local cafe where citizens congregate to drown their sorrows in coffee and pastries, has taken a stand against this glaring disregard for accountability. Their street corner now proudly adorns “F Paul Heffer” flags, a fine example of how to yell into the void when all traditional avenues of complaint are barred.

When asked if Paul Heffer had considered coming into the café to demand the removal of the flags, a representative cleverly stated, “Well, we’ve got the same question and comment policy for our brick-and-mortar establishment that the North Huron council has adopted. So, if Mr. Heffer wants the flags down, he can come in, but he’ll just have to wait until we’re ready to field questions. His best option is to restore questions and comments at council meetings, thereby allowing us to entertain his question/comment as our policies align with theirs. If we can’t ask questions there, he can’t ask questions here.”

But the pièce de résistance of this charade lies in the voicemail left by a Heffer, apparent spokesperson for the family: “Are you pieces of shit too cowardly to answer the f**ing phone? I’ll answer mine, call me back.” It seems that for the council, the citizenry’s disdainful feedback wasn’t enough; they opted to just go full throttle on intimidation, proving yet again that the true hallmark of leadership is not just a thick skin but a self-righteous inability to listen.

So, what’s next for the beleaguered people of North Huron? A recall election led by a raucous mob of flag-wavers? A neighborhood watch dedicated to monitoring council meetings through the windows? Or perhaps an underground pamphlet campaign pointing out that “A Silenced Citizenry is the True Democracy”? 

Only time will tell, but one thing is certain—if North Huron’s council had a pair of ears, they’d probably still be ignoring their constituents. In the meantime, the town will surely remain a hotbed of absurdity and frustration, with the citizens clutching their mugs of coffee, sporting “F Paul Heffer” flags, and practicing long-distance shouting “Can you hear us now?” to the echoing abyss of council indifference. And who knows, maybe they’ll start their own municipal meetings in Buck & Jo’s. Maybe they’ll let people talk there. What a revolutionary idea!
