Andrew SENECHAL – Arson & Cruelty To Animals

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an arson incident following an animal complaint in the City of Orillia.

On September 16, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., the Orillia OPP along with Orillia Fire attended the intersection of Colborne Street East and West Street South for an animal complaint. Upon arrival, an accelerant was discovered and sadly the animal that was the subject of the complaint was deceased.

On September 19, 2024, police received video footage of a person of interest leaving the area at approximately 4:50 p.m. The individual is described as a white male wearing black pants, a black sweater, black baseball hat, white shoes, and carrying a backpack.

Before to the incident, the individual was seen on the south side of Colborne Street East, crossing north at the crosswalk. They then walked diagonally through a gas station parking lot, disappearing behind a building. Within moments, the individual emerges from the location where the incident occurred.

The OPP would like to thank the Citizens of Orillia for their support and help throughout this investigation. As a result of the public’s assistance, Andrew SENECHAL; 29-year-old, of Orillia has been subsequently charged with:

  • Arson – Damage to Property
  • Mischief – Damage Property
  • Cruelty to Animals – Unnecessary pain, suffering, or injury

Taylor Tims – Drunk Driving

(THE NATION, ON) – Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a motorist for stunt driving and a second motorist for stunt driving and operation while impaired.

On October 07, 2024, shortly after 11:30 p.m., officers on Highway 417 in The Nation were conducting LIDAR enforcement when they observed a vehicle travelling 173km/h in a 110km/h zone. The vehicle was passed by a second car travelling 184km/h. Both vehicles were stopped for stunt driving. During the investigation an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was used on the driver who was travelling at 184km/h. The driver failed the test and was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Taylor Tims, from Russell Township, Ontario, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) and the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol CC
  • Stunt Driving HTA

The accused driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and their car was impounded for 14 days. They are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on November 6.

The second driver, a 30-year-old, from Barrie, Ontario, was charged under the HTA with:

  • Stunt Driving HTA

The second accused had their licence suspended for 30 days and their vehicle impounded for 14 days and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court in L’Orignal on December 5.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Names Released

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals from Quebec after police recovered a stolen vehicle.

Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on October 7, police received a notification from the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system in their cruiser that the vehicle travelling in front of them had been stolen out of Montreal. With the assistance of the Ottawa Police Service, a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the two individuals inside it were arrested without incident. 

Nathan MUNDEKE, 25 years of age and Aristote NGOULOUMBEMBA, 18 years of age and both from Montreal, face the following Criminal Code charge:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, over $5,000

Both parties are set to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Eloina GILL HIDALGO – Impaired Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with Impaired Operation following a single motor vehicle collision on Mayfield Road.

On October 1, 2024, shortly after 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a single vehicle collision on Mayfield Road, near Russel Creek Drive, in the Town of Caledon. During the course of the investigation, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested. 

Eloina GILL HIDALGO, 27, of Hamilton, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – Alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – Refusal to comply with demand

·      Resist peace officer

·      Obstruct peace officer

·      Careless driving

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on October 17, 2024, to answer to the charges. Their driver’s licence was also suspended for a period of 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven.

Joseph THOMAS – Drunk Driving

(LAKESHORE, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after member of the public reports a traffic complaint.

On October 7, 2024, at 2:07 p.m., members of the Lakeshore Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on Oakwood Ave. in the Municipality of Lakeshore

Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol and was placed under arrest without incident.

As a result, Joseph THOMAS, a 45-year-old of Lakeshore, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on November 1, 2024.

Plane Crash In Huron East

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron East Fire Department, and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to an airplane crash in the Municipality of Huron East on Saturday October 5th, 2024, just after 11:20 a.m.  

Police received a 911 call from the involved pilot after they had crash-landed in a farm field near Newry Road in Huron East. The lone 68-year-old pilot from Central Huron was located inside the plane and transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.

The pilot was attempting to land on a grass runway in a nearby field and was unable to stop before crossing over Newry Road and impacting the ground on the other side of the roadway.

Initially, emergency responders believed there were three other passengers on board the plane, but it was later determined that these individuals were good Samaritans that had stopped to assist the pilot. The OPP would like to extend their thanks for the assistance they provided at the scene.

Repeat Offenders Arrested Again

(TWEED, ON) – The Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people after a stolen vehicle ended up in a ditch along Highway-7.

Officers responded to a complaint regarding a dangerous driver shortly after 12:30 this morning (October 8, 2024) along on Highway-7 in the Tweed area.

Officers quickly located the vehicle, observed it for a short time and then attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle fled at extremely high speeds. The officers did not engage in a pursuit in the interest of public safety.

The mini-van was located in the ditch a short distance away.

Two people, a male and a female, were found in the vehicle, along with traces of methamphetamine and drug-use paraphernalia. The vehicle had been stolen earlier. The two individuals were transported to hospital as a precaution and were returned to police custody.

A 16-year-old female is charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Flight from a peace officer
  • Theft of a vehicle
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

A 22-year-old male has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Fail to comply with a probation order – two counts
  • Failure to comply with a release order

Both of the accused remain in custody with bail hearings scheduled for today before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.

Satrohan SINGH Charged

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) work extremely hard to keep the roads safe in Dufferin County. Officers have removed and charged a Brampton resident with Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) offences along with a three-day driver’s licence suspension as the result of a traffic stop.

On October 7, 2024, just after 1:00 a.m., Dufferin OPP officers were conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Highway 10 in the Town of Mono. Officers conducted a traffic stop and were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.

Satrohan SINGH, 35-year-old male, from Brampton has been charged with:

•      Failure to comply with undertaking

•      Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit

The driver was also issued a three-day driver’s licence suspension for being within the “warn” range at the roadside.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charges. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.

Joseph O’BRIEN – Drunk Driving

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an impaired driver at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint.

On October 4, 2024, members of the South Bruce OPP were conducting a RIDE checkpoint in Paisley. At approximately 10:23 p.m., police stopped a vehicle to check the sobriety of the driver. 

As a result of the investigation, Joseph O’BRIEN, 35-years-old, from the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Jennifer KRUPA – Drunk Driving

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following an investigation into an impaired driving incident in Simcoe.

At approximately 6:05 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a two-vehicle collision on Norfolk Street North in Simcoe, Norfolk County. No injuries were reported.

As a result, one of the drivers was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 39-year-old Jennifer KRUPA of Norfolk County:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Careless driving.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.

Maureen BERUBE – Drunk Driving

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – A person was charged after police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 108, south of Elliot Lake

On October 6, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) vehicle crash approximately ten kilometers south of Elliot Lake. A small northbound Sport-Utility Vehicle (SUV) failed to negotiate a curve and collided with the guard rails, causing air bags to deploy. Algoma Paramedic Services were on scene and assessed the driver. Police also spoke to the driver who exhibited obvious signs of impairment. Furthermore, an empty bottle of wine and cans of beer were located inside the SUV. The driver was later arrested and the vehicle was towed and impounded.  

Maureen BERUBE, 58-years-old, from Garson was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on December 12, 2024.

Patrick FLUKIGER – Drunk Driving

(LAMBTON, ON) – Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an impaired driver at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint.

On October 6, 2024, shortly after 8:25 p.m., members of the Lambton County OPP conducted a traffic stop to check sobriety of the driver at a RIDE checkpoint on Main Street in Forest.

As a result of the investigation, Patrick FLUKIGER, 31-year-old of Wyoming, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on October 28, 2024, in the City of Sarnia to speak to the charge.

UPDATE: Homicide Victim Identified

(TAY TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is renewing its appeal to the public for information related to a homicide investigation in the Township of Tay.

On August 17, 2023, just after 2:00 p.m., members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to reports of gunshots outside a residence on Maple Street. Upon arrival, officers located one individual with apparent gunshot wounds. The individual was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre and succumbed to their injuries on August 22, 2023.

The deceased has been identified as 41-year-old Jamie MILLER of Victoria Harbour.

Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.

The Southern Georgian Bay OPP Major Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), with assistance from the OPP Forensic Identification Services, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Breeze JANTZI Was Arrested

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person at a RIDE check on October 6, 2024.

On October 6, 2024 at 11:30 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers along with members of the Central Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program on Taylor Road near Depot Drive in Bracebridge, ON when they began an investigation into the driving of a person coming through the checkpoint.

As a result of their investigation, police have charged 22-year-old Breeze JANTZI of Mactier, ON with Possession of a Schedule I Substance (cocaine) for the Purpose of Trafficking CDSA 5(2) and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 CC 354(1)(a). She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on November 12, 2024 to answer to her charges.

Corey Robinson Was Arrested Again

(ESSA, ON)-The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged two individuals in relation to a stolen motor vehicle investigation.

On October 6, 2024 at around 9:38 a.m., Nottawasaga OPP received information about a stolen motor vehicle from the area of 11th Line and 25 Sideroad, Essa that had two occupants inside of the motor-vehicle. As a result of police efforts, around 9:58 a.m., the stolen vehicle was observed by members of the Nottawasaga OPP in Essa Township. Subsequently, Police recovered the motor vehicle and located two people inside.

As a result of the investigation, two people have been arrested and charged.

Susana Sobey, a 52- year-old female from Adjala-Tosorontio Township has been charged with:

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000

The accused is being held pending a bail hearing..

Corey Robinson, a 41-year-old male from Penetanguishene has been charged with:

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000

·      Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is being held pending a bail hearing.
