Kieran NAHMIWAN Was Arrested Again

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested and is facing several charges following a traffic complaint about the dangerous operation of a vehicle on Highway 6 near Espanola.

On November 7, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received traffic complaints reporting that a vehicle was driving dangerously at a high rate of speed on Highway 6, near the Town of Espanola.

Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Highway 6.  A query revealed the driver had an outstanding warrant and was arrested. While speaking to the driver police determined alcohol had been consumed and the driver was transported to Little Current detachment for further testing.

Additionally, officers located over 12 grams of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $1,200, and imitation brass knuckles.  

As a result, the driver, Kieran NAHMIWAN, 30-years-old from Wikwemikong, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine

·      Failure to comply with undertaking – two counts

·      Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

·      Dangerous operation

·      Fail to stop for police

·      Drive vehicle with cannabis in open baggage

·      Novice driver – B.A.C above zero

The accused is scheduled to appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on December 4, 2024.

Raymond SHAWANDE – Drunk Driving

(GORE BAY, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged for impaired operation following a traffic hazard complaint on Highway 540, Burpee Township.

On November 9, 2024, at approximately 3:45 a.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a traffic hazard involving a pickup truck. Officers attended the area and observed a pickup truck matching the description travelling eastbound on Highway 540.

A traffic stop was conducted, and while speaking to the driver police determined alcohol had been consumed and the driver was transported to the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service detachment for further testing. Additionally, officers located and seized five firearms and ammunition from inside the pickup truck.

As a result, the driver, Raymond SHAWANDE, 55-years-old from Wikwemikong, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Carless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – five counts

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on January 21, 2025.

Nicholas FURLER – Drunk Driving

(MAPLETON TWP, ON) – Wellington County OPP received a report of a single vehicle striking a tree, which lead to the arrest of a Wellesley resident.

On November 12, 2024, just before 4:30 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a single vehicle collision, involving the vehicle striking a tree on Eighth line within Mapleton Township.

As a result of the investigation, Nicholas FURLER, a 29-year-old of Wellesley ON, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statue.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on November 26, 2024.

Darren OWL Facing Numerous Charges

(ESPANOLA, ON) – A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) has resulted in one male being charged with impaired operation and drug related charges.

On November 6, 2024, at approximately 1:45 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check on Lee Valley Road, Sables-Spanish Rivers Township. A pickup truck went through the RIDE and officers noticed the male driver to be exhibiting signs of impairment. Further investigation led to the male driver being arrested for driving while under suspension. The driver was transported to the McKerrow OPP detachment for further testing, which determined that he was impaired by drug.

Additionally, officers located over .5 grams of suspected crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $115, over 11 grams of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of $3,400, over 20 capsules of suspected psilocybin and over 41 grams of psilocybin mushrooms with an estimated street value of $600.

As a result, the driver, Darren OWL, 31-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – drugs

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin)

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

·      Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

·      Driving while under suspension

·      Improper tires

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·      Operate unsafe vehicle

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on December 2, 2024, at 10:30 a.m.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(ESPANOLA, ON) – The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged two people with drug related offences following the execution of a drug warrant.

On November 5, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., OPP members from the North East Region Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), and the Canine Unit (K-9), executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant on a residence in Espanola.

A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of approximately .19 grams of suspected pink fentanyl with an estimated street value of $60, over 4.5 grams of suspected brown fentanyl with an estimated street value of $1,300, over 2.5 grams of suspected beige fentanyl with an estimated street value of $800.

As a result, Danette BRANDOW, 39-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid (other than heroin)

Additionally, Simon BEAUCHAMP, 31-years-old from Mckerrow, was charged with:

  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
  • Failure to comply with probation order

Both accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sudbury on November 5, 2024. Simon BEAUCHAMP was remanded into custody.

Joshua FOGAL – Impaired Driving

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – One person has been charged with impaired operation following a single motor vehicle collision.

On November 5, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision, where a pickup truck went into the ditch at the intersection of Highway 542 and Perivale Road West, Campbell Township.

While speaking to the driver police determined alcohol had been consumed and the driver was arrested for impaired operation. The driver was transported to the Little Current detachment for further testing, where he refused to provide a breath sample.

As a result, the driver, Joshua FOGAL, 31-years-old from Carnarvon Township, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Refusal to comply with demand

The pickup truck was impounded for seven days, and the driver’s licence was suspended. The driver did not require medical attention. 

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court on November 6, 2024, and was remanded into custody.

Richard SERWA – Drunk Driving

(DRUMMOND-NORTH ELMSLEY TWP, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Perth resident with impaired driving.

Officers respond reports of an erratic driver on Highway-43 in Drummond-North Elmsley Township on Monday, November 11, 2024, shortly before 6:00 p.m. A short time later another caller reported the same vehicle in the ditch on Best Road.

Officers located an individual walking along Highway-43, matching the description of the driver and the individual was arrested and transported to the Lanark Detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Richard SERWA, age 68, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on January 6, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension) and vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

Brant MACDONALD – Impaired Driving

(ALLISTON, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver for driving while impaired in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On November 12, 2024, just before 08:30 a.m., Nottawasaga OPP responded to a report of driver asleep behind the wheel of his motor vehicle. This incident occurred on Young Street in the Town of New Tecumseth. No injuries were reported. 

As a result of the investigation, Brant MACDONALD, 43, of Adjala-Tosorontio, was charged with:  

• Adult Operation while Impaired- alcohol and drugs

In addition to the charges, the driver was issued a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Bradford on December 26, 2024, to answer to the charges.

3 Month Old Dead – 2 Arrested, Names Released

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – Two individuals have been charged in connection with an infant death in Chamberlain Township in September 2022.

On September 3, 2022, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for assistance from the Temiskaming District Emergency Medical Services (EMS) regarding a three-month-old infant with no vital signs at a residence on Chamberlain Road 5. The infant was transported to hospital by EMS and later pronounced deceased.  

A thorough investigation was conducted by the Temiskaming OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the OPP North East Region Support Team and OPP Forensic Identification Services, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.  

On November 12, 2024, two people were arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences.

Jeffrey DOONAN, 32 years old of King Kirkland, was charged with:

  • Second degree murder, section 215(1)(a)

·      Criminal negligence causing death, section 220(b)

  • Fail to provide the necessaries of life, section 215(1)(a)

Michelle DOONAN, 33 years old of King Kirkland, was charged with:

·      Criminal negligence causing death, section 220(b)

·      Fail to provide necessaries of life, section 215(1)(a)

Both accused remain in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on November 13, 2024.

Michael DUBRICK Was Arrested Again

(ERIN TWP, ON) – Wellington County OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Trafalgar Road, involving two occupants fleeing the scene prior to police arrival. Both suspects are now in police custody and two vehicles are reported to have been involved in the initial collision.

On November 12, 2024, just before 10:00 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision, involving two vehicles, on Trafalgar Road within the Town of Erin. Through the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the subject vehicle involved was in-fact stolen and the two occupants had fled the scene into a nearby wooded area.

In response, The Ontario Provincial Police Aviation Unit, the Emergency Response Team (ERT), the OPP Canine Unit (K9), alongside other uniform members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police attended the scene and began searching the area. Several nearby roads were closed as a result.

Two individuals were later located and taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, Michael DUBRICK, a 31-year-old of Kitchener, has been charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Driving while under suspension
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
  • Failure to stop after accident
  • Operation while Prohibited
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

The accused has been held in custody, pending a bail hearing.

Mary-Ann GRANDY, a 38-year-old of Kitchener, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000

The accused has been held in custody, pending a bail hearing.

Tirah OLIVER – Impaired Driving

(CORUNNA, ON) – On November 12, 2024, shortly after 4:45 a.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint in the area of Bentinck Drive and Cameron Street in Corunna.

Police located the vehicle and driver. As a result of the investigation, Tirah OLIVER, 21-year-old of Sarnia, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Dangerous operation
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

The vehicle was impounded for a period of 45 days as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Sarnia on December 10, 2024, to speak to the charges.

Edward DOXTATOR – Drunk Driving

(CHIPPEWAS OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – Driver charged with impaired while operating a stolen vehicle.

On November 8, 2024, at 7:33 p.m., a member of the Oneida Nation police was travelling on Thomigo Road in Chippewas of the Thames First Nation for an unrelated matter, when a suspicious vehicle was observed.

A traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the vehicle had previously been reported as stolen from London.

As a result, Edward DOXTATOR, a 55-year-old of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on January 7, 2024.

David MARTINEZ TRUJILLO – Drunk Driving

(LONDON, ON) – Kitchener driver charged with impaired after traffic complaint on Highway 401.

On November 9, 2024, at 7:29 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the Westbound lanes of Highway 401 in the City of London, for the report of a possible impaired driver.

The vehicle was located stopped on the shoulder of the highway at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

As a result, David MARTINEZ TRUJILLO, a 45-year-old of Kitchener, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Drive motor vehicle – not equipped with ignition interlock device

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on January 15, 2025.

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after two-vehicle collision in Thames Centre.

On November 8, 2024, at 7:23 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to Gore Road in Thames Centre for report of a collision involving two vehicles.

As a result, Hailee MARTIN, a 34-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Drive – hand held communication device

·      Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on December 18, 2024.

There were no injuries reported.

Phillip KAKEKAGUMICK – Trespassing At Night

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – One Individual has been charged after police observed them trespassing and attempting to enter vehicles.

On October 28, 2024, shortly after 5 a.m., officers from the Sioux Lookout detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol when they noticed an individual with a flashlight acting in a suspicious manner around Second Avenue North.

The individual was placed under arrest and found to be in possession of multiple items not belonging to them.

Phillip KAKEKAGUMICK, 35-years-old, of Sioux Lookout has been charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • Trespassing at Night

The accused was held for bail and remanded to the Kenora District Jail.
