Joseph OKUNOLA Facing Numerous Charges

(SARNIA, ON) – On November 19, 2024, shorty after 12:00 p.m., a member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting traffic enforcement in the westbound lanes of Highway 402 at Indian Road, Sarnia.

A vehicle was observed travelling more than 130 km/h in a 80 km/h construction zone at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

As a result of the investigation, Joseph OKUNOLA, 51-year-old of Toronto was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with the following offences: 

·      Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

·      Use document without authority (three counts)

·      Processing counterfeit money (four counts)

·      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed

·      Driving while under suspension

The vehicle was immediately impounded for a period of 45 days.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice, Sarnia on December 30, 2024.

Brody PETERS – Drunk Driving

(SCHREIBER, ON) – A 19-year-old individual from Terrace Bay is facing charges of impaired operation resulting from a motor vehicle collision (MVC).

On November 13, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., members of the Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 near Sunset Drive in the Town of Schreiber.

As a result of the investigation, Brody PETERS, 19-years-old, of Terrace Bay has been criminally charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

The Accused received a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay.

Zachary WEST – Drunk Driving

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving related charges after a single vehicle collision.

On November 18, 2024, at approximately 5:57 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers responded to a single vehicle collision in Springwater Township. Officers located the vehicle on Snow Valley Road west of Bayfield Street North where they conducted an impaired driving investigation. As a result, Zachary WEST, 26-year-old of Barrie, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous Operation

The Male was additionally charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Novice Driver – B.A.C. Above Zero

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Cameron YOUNG Was Arrested

(SHELBURNE, ON) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Shelburne resident with impaired operation related offences as the result of a R.I.D.E. program.

On November 18, 2024, at approximately 11:15 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check in the area of Victoria Street in the Town of Shelburne. A vehicle entered the area and was met by the officers. After a brief conversation, the officers were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.

Cameron YOUNG, a 41-year-old male, from Shelburne has been charged with:

•      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

•      Fail to surrender insurance card

•      Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

•      Possess unmarked cigarettes

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended 90 days, and their vehicle impounded for 7 days.

Gordon FLETCHER Was Arrested Again

(HAVELOCK-BELMONT-METHUEN TOWNSHIP, ON)- The Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has made an arrest of the third individual involved in the assault investigation in Havelock.

On November 12, 2024, at approximately 8:45 p.m., members of the OPP Peterborough County Detachment received a report of an assault on Ottawa Street in Havelock. The complainant advised that three known individuals attended their residence, all of which participated in the assault, then left in a vehicle after making threats to return and cause more harm.

On November 13, 2024, officers arrested two individuals in relation to this investigation.

On November 18, 2024, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the Central East Region Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) located the remaining suspect at a residence in Havelock. The individual was arrested on the outstanding Warrant in Peterborough County, as well as an outstanding Warrant in Northumberland County related to a robbery that occurred in Trent Hills on October 18, 2024.

Gordon FLETCHER (age 31) of Trent Hills was arrested and charged with:

·      Assault cause Bodily Harm

·      Utter Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm – two counts

·      Fail to Comply with Probation Order – two counts

·      Assault with a Weapon

·      Unauthorized possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

·      Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

·      Robbery Using a Firearm

·      Possession of Firearm contrary to Prohibition Order – two counts

·      Utter Threats – Damage Property

·      Pointing a Firearm

FLETCHER was transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment where he was held for Bail.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into a drug trafficking investigation following a traffic stop for speeding on November 18, 2024.

An officer on patrol observed a motor vehicle speeding southbound on Pigeon Lake Road at 2:45pm. A traffic stop was conducted where the officer entered into a drug possession investigation.  Through investigation the driver and two passengers were arrested and charged with Criminal Code, Cannabis Control Act and Highway Traffic Act offences.

Rhianna Whitman-Davis, 30-year-old of Peterborough, was charged with:

  • Speeding 1-49km/h over posted limit
  • Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

Tayler Hancock, 35-year-old of Peterborough was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

Dylan Kemp, 32-year-old of Fraserville was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

Steven BOUCHARD – Was Arrested

(COCHRANE, ON) – The execution of a search warrant in Cochrane has resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the recovery of stolen property and a firearm.

On November 13, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the James Bay Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the James Bay Crime Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Concession Road 8&9 in Cochrane.

During the investigation, two individuals were arrested, and police seized stolen property and a firearm.

As a result of this investigation, Steven BOUCHARD, 24 years-of-age of Cochrane was charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Mischief – renders property useless

Further, a 14-year-old person from Cochrane was charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Mischief – renders property useless
  • Fail to comply with sentence

Both accused individuals were released from a bail hearing and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane in December. The name of the youth cannot be released under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

Gage CANNING Was Arrested

(PEMBROKE, ON) – A Pembroke resident is facing Criminal Code (CC) impaired driving charges after a traffic stop in the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment area.

On the evening of November 14, 2024, members of the UOV OPP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the City of Pembroke. At approximately 9:00 p.m. officers located the vehicle in the area of the Pembroke Marina and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver was taken into custody for impaired driving and transported to the detachment for further testing where readings in excess of three times the legal blood alcohol limit were obtained. Police also seized stolen licence plates during the course of the investigation. 

As a result of this incident 26-year-old Gage CANNING has been charged with the following CC, Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA) offences:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

·        Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

·        Use plate not authorized for vehicle

·        Drive motor vehicle – no permit

·        Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on December 17, 2024.

Paul HENSMAN – Theft & Fraud

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged in connection with a fraud investigation in Simcoe.

At approximately 3:07 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a fraud-related incident on Queensway East in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that an individual entered a business, ordered consumable goods, and refused to pay after consuming them.

Officers located the individual on the premises and took them into custody without incident. During the arrest, it was determined that a bicycle in the individual’s possession had been reported stolen earlier that day, around 10:53 a.m., from another address on Queensway East.

31-year-old Paul HENSMAN of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Food and lodging fraud,
  • Theft under $5,000.

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

Jordan WALLACE – Drunk Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a driver with impaired while conducting a RIDE spot-check on Argyle Street, Caledonia.

On November 17, 2024, at approximately 1:15 a.m., an individual was placed under arrest after police assessed the driver’s sobriety.

As a result, 31-year-old Jordan WALLACE of London has been charged with the following criminal charges:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on December 24, 2024.

Raymond YOUNG – Impaired Operation

(ESPANOLA, ON) – The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) assisted the Anishinabek Police Service (APS) with an impaired investigation which resulted in one person being arrested and charged.

On November 2, 2024 at approximately 1:30 p.m., APS officers located a driver passed out in the driver’s seat of a pickup truck. The driver was subsequently arrested and upon further investigation, officers located suspected crack cocaine. An OPP Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE) assisted with the investigation for further testing.

As a result, the driver, Raymond YOUNG, 33-years-old from Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance

The pickup truck was towed and impounded for seven days, and the driver’s licence was suspended.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on December 2, 2024.

Taylor KEIZER-DOUGLAS – Break & Enter, Etc.

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged with multiple offences following an investigation into a home invasion in Simcoe.

At approximately 3:53 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a report of a home invasion on Victoria Street in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that an individual unlawfully entered a residence on the property and interacted with four occupants inside. During the incident, the individual damaged property within the home and took items belonging to the occupants. No injuries were reported.

When officers arrived at the scene, they confronted the individual attempting to flee. During the interaction, the individual brandished an edged weapon but was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported.

30-year-old Taylor KEIZER-DOUGLAS of Haldimand County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence,
  • Mischief under $5,000,
  • Theft under $5,000,
  • Assault a Peace Officer while threatening to use a weapon.

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

Tanner DOXTATOR – Drunk Driving

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Driver facing Impaired driving charge after traffic stop.

On November 16, 2024, at 2:50 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol on Sharon Drive in Middlesex Centre, performed a traffic stop on a vehicle.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Tanner DOXTATOR, a 22-year-old of Glencoe, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on December 5, 2024.

Drug Bust @ RIDE

(ESPANOLA, ON) – Two people have been arrested and charged following a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check, which led to the seizure of a large amount of cannabis.

On November 19, 2024, at approximately 12:45 a.m., The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check on Highway 6 near Espanola. A vehicle approached officers, and police noticed an odour of cannabis coming from the vehicle. Further investigation resulted in two people being arrested.

Additionally, officers located over 12kg of dried cannabis, with a street value of approximately $41,200, over 140 packages of cannabis gummies with a street value of approximately $5,800, 50 cannabis vape pen cartridges with a street value of approximately $2,000 and over 10g of suspected cocaine, with a street value of approximately $1,000, and Canadian currency.

As a result, the driver, Edward SMAGALA, 58-years-old from Annan, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – cocaine
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000

The passenger, Hao Dong LIANG, 33-years-old from Markham, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – cocaine
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Both accused were held in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sudbury on November 19, 2024.

Silina TRIPP – Drunk Driving

(LONDON, ON) – Driver charged after two-vehicle collision in on Highway 401 in London.

On November 16, 2024, at 11:28 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to the Westbound lanes of Highway 401 in the City of London for report of a collision between a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and a transport truck.

One involved driver was placed under arrest and transported to the London OPP detachment.

As a result, Silina TRIPP, a 33-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on January 23, 2025.

There were no injuries reported.
