Crediton Drug Bust – Names Released

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), and Huron County OPP detachment resulted in the seizure of weapons and stolen property. Criminal charges have been laid against two individuals.

An investigation that began in December 2024 eventually led investigators to an address in Crediton, Municipality of South Huron.

On Wednesday, January 08, 2025, a search warrant was executed on Victoria Avenue East in the Village of Crediton which resulted in the recovery and seizure of stolen property as well as, imitation firearms, knives, brass knuckles, firearm magazines, firearm components, and a stun gun. Two individuals have been arrested and charged.

Mitchell HARRIS, 36 years of age from South Huron has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – (two counts),
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order – (two counts).

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing at the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice, where they were remanded into custody.

Ryan GREEN, 43 years of age from Goderich has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter – (two counts),
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – (nine counts),
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose,
  • Possession of Prohibited Device or Ammunition – (three counts),
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order – (six counts),
  • Possession of Identity Document – (five counts),
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order – (eight counts).

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing at the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice, where they were remanded into custody.

Richard MITCHELL Arrested Again

(TOWNSHIP OF HAMILTON, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual found in breach of court conditions.

On January 12. 2025, at around 12:40 p.m., OPP received a report regarding a person believed to breaching conditions of a court release order at an address in Bewdley.

A person matching the description provided to police was located nearby and they were placed under arrest. Following a search, a small quantity of drugs was also discovered.

As a result, Richard MITCHELL (age 41) from Toronto, has been charged with:

–      Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

–      Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid.

The individual was held for bail before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

Fatal Collision

(WHITEWATER REGION, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle and a tractor trailer on Highway 17 in Whitewater Region Township.

On January 14, 2025, at approximately 2:45 a.m., UOV OPP officers, Renfrew County paramedics and Whitewater Region firefighters responded to the two-vehicle collision on Highway 17 between Mountain Road and Sutherland Road. Preliminary investigation has found that a westbound passenger vehicle crossed into the lane of an eastbound tractor trailer. As a result of the collision the passenger vehicle caught fire. The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 22-year-old from North Algona- Wilberforce Township, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was not seriously injured. 

The investigation is continuing in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. An OPP Collision Reconstructionist and Technical Collision Investigator are also assisting with the investigation along with OPP Forensic Identification Services.

As a result of the collision Highway 17 is currently closed between Highway 41 and County Road 8 in Cobden with local detours in place. The closure is expected to last until midday.

More Impaired Drivers

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – Two drivers have been charged with impaired, after two separate complaints.

On January 10, 2025, at approximately 8:45 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 11 in Hilliard Township.

The OPP attended and determined the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

Louiselle MCLEAN, 70 years of age, of Earlton Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

On January 11, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the OPP responded to a suspicious vehicle parked on Lillie Street in Thornloe. Officers attended and found the driver asleep in the vehicle. They were arrested and transported the detachment for further testing.

William SIMMENS, 45 years-of-age of Thornloe Ontario, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

Both drivers received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and their vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on January 28, 2025.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(SOUTH GLENGARRY, ON) – The Stormont Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two motorists with impaired driving.

On January 11, 2025, shortly after 11:00 p.m., SD&G officers observed a motor vehicle unable to maintain it’s lane on Highway 401 in the South Glengarry Township. Further Investigation led to the driver being arrested.       

Megan POUPORE, aged 30, of Massena, New York was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on February 6, 2025.

(SOUTH STORMONT, ON) – On January 12, 2025, shortly before 7:00 p.m., SD&G officers responded to a single collision on Simcoe Street in South Stormont Township.  

Courtney BROCKETT, aged 32, of South Stormont Township was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on February 6, 2025.

Do You Recognize This Theft Suspect?

(MEAFORD, ON) – On January 8, 2025, the Grey Bruce OPP responded to a theft complaint at the LCBO in Meaford.

It is reported that an unknown individual entered the business and stole over $1000 worth of alcohol. The suspect was observed on video surveillance and is described as, male, 5’9″ tall, wearing red puma shoes, jeans, red buffalo sabres toque, grey jacket, black hoody, a triangle type tattoo on the left side of his neck and driving a Dodge Charger with plate DCCD100. It is believed that this individual is a suspect in other LCBO thefts around the province.

Another Drunk Driver Arrested

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – Police arrested and charged one person with impaired driving offences, after an investigation involving a motor vehicle in a ditch.

On January 11, 2025, at approximately 10:40 p.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle in a ditch on Leclair Road, West Nipissing.

No injuries were reported and as a result of the investigation, Camille, DUBUC TREMBLAY, 30 years-of-age, from Cache Bay, was arrested and charged with, operation while impaired – alcohol and failure or refusal to comply with demand.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 6, 2025, in North Bay.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

27 Year Old From Mount Forest Arrested

(BROCKTON, ON) – On January 11, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision along Bruce Road 4 near Ontario Road, Municipality of Brockton.

On arrival, officers located a two vehicle collision. The investigating officer detected signs of impairment from one of the involved drivers. The driver was placed under arrest and transported for further testing.

Natasha VARLEY, 27-years-old, of Mount Forest was charged with:

  • Impaired Operation (80 plus), CC 320.14(1)(b)

The accused is set to appear in the Walkerton Court of Justice on February 12, 2025.

Kyle SCHENK – Drunk Driving

(GREATER NAPANEE, ON) – Lennox and Addington County Detachment members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one person with impaired driving following a traffic complaint on Monday evening.

On Monday, January 13, 2025, shortly before 6:00 p.m., L&A County OPP members stopped a vehicle following a traffic complaint that it was swerving into oncoming traffic on County Road 41 in Greater Napanee.   

Kyle SCHENK, a 34-year-old from Greater Napanee was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – over 80 mgs of alcohol

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on February 4, 2025. Their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Victoria BELL – Drunk Driving

(CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving related charges because of a traffic tip.

On January 13, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers responded to a traffic tip of a possible impaired driver on Mill Street in Clearview Township.

Officers patrolled the area and located the vehicle arriving at the vehicle owner’s residence. Officers noticed an odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath which led into an impaired driving investigation. As a result, Victoria BELL, 58-year-old of Clearview Township, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol and Drugs

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Fatal Head-on Collision

(TWEED, ON) – A head-on collision on Highway 7 near Tweed has left one person deceased.

Officers with the Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with members of the of the Tweed Fire Department and Hastings Quinte Paramedic Service, responded to the crash on Monday, January 13, 2025, shortly after 10:00 a.m. near Flinton Road, northeast of Tweed.

A car and tractor trailer had collided head-on, with the driver of the car being ejected from his vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts by paramedics, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the transport did not suffer any serious physical injuries.

The deceased has been identified as a 61-year-old man from Peterborough.

The investigation by Central Hastings OPP into the collision continues, with assistance from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and members of the Technical Collision Investigation Team.

The highway reopened shortly before 9:00 p.m.

KNUFF – Impaired Operation

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been charged after they were arrested for impaired operation at a Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check.

On January 11, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check at the intersection of Barber Street and Queensway Avenue in the town of Espanola. A vehicle went through the RIDE, and police determined that the driver had consumed an intoxicating substance. Further testing on scene resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired operation.

As a result, the driver, David KNUFF, 62-years-old from Espanola, was charged with operation while impaired – drugs.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on March 10, 2025.

The OPP has highly trained Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE) officers who are skilled in the detection and investigation of drug impaired drivers. COYNE – Break & Enter

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following a break-and-enter investigation in Simcoe.

At approximately 2:04 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a break-and-enter in progress on Donly Drive South in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that an individual unlawfully entered a business on the property. Upon being confronted by officers, the suspect fled on foot. Officers later located and arrested the individual on Victoria Street in Simcoe without further incident.

40-year-old Danny COYNE from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offence:

  • Break, enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

QUEWEZENCE Was Arrested

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual after a motor vehicle collision. 

On January 10, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 105 in an unorganized township.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver involved in the collision had been consuming alcoholic beverages. The accused was placed under arrest after refusing to provide a breath sample into an approved screening device (ASD).

Starr QUEWEZENCE, 27-years-old, of Red Lake, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·         Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden February 3, 2025.

Zachary SHAW Was Arrested Again

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following an investigation into a shoplifting incident in Simcoe.

At approximately 1:23 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a reported theft on Queensway East in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that an individual entered a business, concealed merchandise, and attempted to exit without paying.

Officers located the individual on the premises and took them into custody without incident.

47-year-old Zachary SHAW from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Fail to comply with Probation Order,
  • Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
