Brian REID Was Arrested Again

(HALIBURTON COUNTY, ON) – The Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged an individual following an investigation involving firearms.

As a result of an ongoing police investigation, members of the Haliburton Highlands OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with the assistance of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at a location on George Street in Haliburton on January 21, 2025. Multiple firearms, ammunition, other weapons, and suspected drugs were seized. One person was arrested.

As a result, Brian REID, 41, of the Municipality of Dysart et AL, has been charged with:

·        Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition order – four counts

·        Careless Storage of Firearm – three counts

·        Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – three counts

·        Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – three counts

·        Failure to Comply with Release Order – six counts

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance

The accused was held for a Bail Hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested – Names Released

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – Three drivers are facing impaired charges from this past weekend in Haldimand County.

On January 18, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., 35-year-old Kayla FENTON of Hamilton was arrested and subsequently charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

On January 19, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., 54-year-old Jason WAITE of Lowbanks was arrested and subsequently charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration – (80 plus)
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Not Equipped with Ignition Interlock Device

These two accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on February 25, 2025.

On January 19, 2025, at approximately 12:50 p.m., 48-year-old Dean VIEIRA of Toronto was arrested and subsequently charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Possess Unmarked Cigarettes
  • Possess Unmarked Cigarettes for Sale

This accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on February 4, 2025.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged four people after a traffic stop on Ottawa Avenue in Elliot Lake.

On January 21, 2025, at approximately 12:45 p.m., police stopped a vehicle after recognizing a person who was wanted on outstanding charges. The person was uncooperative with police, resisting arrest, assaultive, and attempted to disarm an officer. Police were able to safely and effectively arrest all four people from the vehicle and approximately 43 grams of suspected Fentanyl was seized – with an approximate street value of $10,900.   

Corey HIGDON, 50-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Assault with intent to resist arrest
  • Attempt to disarm Peace Officer
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid
  • Assault
  • Failure to comply with release order – two counts
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Forcible confinement

This accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on January 22, 2025.

Mitchell GENTILE, 35-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid. 

Krystal ROL, 35-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with – Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid. 

Jennifer STUBBERT, 43-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with – Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid. 

These three accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on March 13, 2025.

Victim Scammed Out Of $230,000 – 4 Arrested

(CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit has charged another four individuals following a fraud investigation.

In February 2024, a business in Centre Wellington contacted the Wellington County OPP to advise that they had lost approximately $230,000 to a phishing scam.

Four additional individuals have been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

Cornelius ETAH, 39-years-old of Ajax, was charged with:

  • Fraud over $5000
  • Theft over $5000
  • Possession Property obtained by crime over $5000 – In Canada

The accused will make their next court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on February 18, 2025.

Hamid OKI, 28-years-old of Toronto, was charged with:

  • Fraud over $5000
  • Theft over $5000
  • Possession Property obtained by crime over $5000 – In Canada

The accused will make their next court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on March 7, 2025.

Olabamiji OMONIYI, 35-years-old of North York, was charged with:

  • Possession Property obtained by crime over $5000 – In Canada
  • Personation with Intent – intent to obtain property (identity fraud)
  • Use, deals, acts on forged document

The accused will make their next court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on February 14, 2025.

Ifeanyi OKOLO, 31-years-old of Kitchener, was charged with:

  • Fraud over $5000
  • Theft over $5000
  • Possession Property obtained by crime over $5000 – In Canada

The accused will make their next court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on January 24, 2025.

Fatal Collision

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Middlesex County OPP investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision.

On January 22, 2025, at approximately 5:37 p.m., emergency services including members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and Middlesex Centre Fire, were dispatched to Richmond Street in Middlesex Centre, for a two-vehicle collision.

Three individuals were transported to hospital with unknown injuries, where one of the individuals was pronounced deceased.

Richmond Street is closed between Eight Mile and Nine Mile for the investigation.

Members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team are on scene to assist with the investigation.

Anthony RYAN Facing Assault Charge

(BLUEWATER, ON) – On January 18th, 2025, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a dispute in the Village of Bayfield in the Municipality of Bluewater.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed an assault on another person.

Anthony RYAN. 42 years of age from London has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offence:

–      Assault.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on February 24, 2025.

Clinton Meth Bust – Names Released

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Major Crime Unit, Huron-Perth Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), and West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs and offence-related property. Criminal charges have been laid against two Central Huron residents.

An investigation initiated in December 2024 by members of the Huron County OPP Major Crime Unit led investigators to an address in Central Huron.

On Monday, January 20, 2025, a search warrant was executed on Albert Street in the Town of Clinton, Municipality of Central Huron, which resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs and related property. Two individuals have been arrested and charged.

A quantity of suspected cocaine and methamphetamine were seized. The total value of the illegal drugs seized is estimated at $17,200.

Mark MACKISON, 61 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with:

  • Trafficking in Firearm, Weapon, Device, or Ammunition,
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine,
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice on February 24, 2025.

Dylan MACKISON, 27 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice on February 24, 2025.

Mark CARRIER – Impaired Driving

(HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid another impaired driving charge in Hamilton Township.

On Friday January 17, 2025, at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers observed a white sedan travelling northbound on Division Street at a rate of speed higher than the posted 50km/hr speed limit. The vehicle came into close proximity of the police cruiser that was turning southbound nearly causing a collision. Officers located the vehicle a few minutes later at the location of Dale Road and Division Street North in the north side ditch. Upon speaking with the driver police suspected the individual had been consuming alcohol. The officer administered a roadside screening device test, and the driver registered a ‘fail’. The individual was taken into custody and transported to a nearby police station where further testing was conducted.   

As a result of the investigation, Mark CARRIER (age 24) of Cobourg, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous Operation

The accused was additionally charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) for improper tires.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on a date in February 2025.

Brandon D’Antonio Arreted For Theft

(BRANT, ON) – On January 14, 2025, at approximately 10:41 a.m., Brant County OPP responded to a reported theft at a retail store on Grand River Street North.

A male suspect was observed shopping in the store and interacting with the store manager before leaving the premises with two stolen items. The suspect exited through the store’s entrance and fled the scene.

The stolen items include:

  • Ninja Slow Juicer valued at $219.99
  • Ninja Portable Juicer valued at $99.99
  • Total value (including tax): $361.60

Following an investigation, Brant County OPP identified the suspect as Brandon D’Antonio (34 years old), a resident of Brantford.

On January 16, 2025, shortly after midnight, officers located and arrested D’Antonio without incident in Brantford. He has been charged with:

  • Theft under $5,000

The accused has since been released. The Brant OPP reminds residents to report suspicious activity immediately and to take proactive measures to prevent theft.

Jarrett WOJICK – Drunk Driving

(NIPIGON, ON) Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) has lead to one driver being charged for Impaired Operation.

On January 18, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., members of the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. program which included MAS on Railway Street in the Township of Nipigon.

Jarrett WOJICK, 45-years old, from Gorham Ontario failed the roadside screening and has been charged under the Criminal Code with;

  • Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

The accused was released by police and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon to speak to the charges.

Impaired driving continues to be a serious public safety issue on local roads and highways. If you suspect someone is driving while impaired call 911. Road safety is the shared responsibility of all road users.

Cole PLUNKETT Was Arrested Again

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person following a complaint about an individual breaching release conditions.

On January 17, 2025, shortly after 11:00 p.m., officers responded to a location on Musclow Greenview Road in Hastings Highlands. A male, believed to be armed with firearms, fled into the woods when officers arrived. The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), and Canine Unit responded to the scene.

Bancroft OPP officers located the individual and three firearms were located.

Cole PLUNKETT, age 24 of Hastings Highlands, has been charged with:

  • Failure to comply with a release order – three counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm – three counts
  • Breach of firearm regulation – store firearm or restricted weapon – three counts

The accused was remanded in custody following a bail hearing on January 18, 2025.

Contractor Fraud – Christopher Brown Arrested – Police Fear More Victims

(MEAFORD, ON) – One individual is facing fraud charges after they received money for work and never completed the job.

On August 18, 2024, the victim contracted a contractor to complete work at their property. The victim provided a deposit for materials and the contractor never returned to complete the work and refused to refund the money.

Christopher Brown, 43 years-old of Georgian Bluffs is charged with fraud under $5000.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 27, 2025.

Warrant Arrest

A 41 year old St. Thomas resident wanted by police after a weekend altercation, has been been arrested. The individual had been charged with Failure to Comply with Release Order, Assault with a Weapon and Uttering Threats to Cause Death after they assaulted an acquaintance with a hammer. On Monday January 20th 2025, STPS were contacted by the London Police Service who had that individual in custody on the strength of our warrant. Officers attended London to take custody of the individual who was then transported to STPS Headquarters where they were processed and held for a morning court appearance. ST25001190/1078

Suspended Drivers 

A 47 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday January 20th 2025, officers on community patrol were dealing with the individual on an unrelated traffic concern when they were made aware of the individual being prohibited from driving due to several criminal code and highway traffic act violations. The 47 year old was arrested, processed and released on an appearance notice with a future court date. ST25001174

A 20 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Tuesday January 21st 2025, officers conducting a traffic stop were made aware that the driver of the vehicle they had stopped was prohibited from driving, province wide for impaired operation dating back to 2023. The 20 year old was arrested, processed and released on an appearance notice with a future court date. ST25001192

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

A vehicle reported stolen by Elgin OPP has been recovered in St. Thomas. This morning, STPS were called in regards to the vehicle, a black Dodge Ram in the middle of the roadway with the doors open, unoccupied. Police attended an east end neighbourhood and through investigation, learned the truck had been reported stolen. OPP were contacted and the vehicle, towed. ST25001193

Theft

Approximately $25 of groceries have been reported stolen from a downtown grocery store. On Monday January 20th 2025, police were called to the store to investigate the incident that took place on January 18th. Officers are reviewing video of the incident as they continue to investigate. ST25001147

At 6:45 p.m. last night, police were called to a grocery at the west end of the city to investigate the report of an unknown individual who had attempted to leave the store without paying for their items. When approached by store staff, the individual became aggressive and caused damaged within the store before leaving the area. Police are reviewing the available video as they work to identify the individual. ST25001180

Hanover Haven For Criminal Anonymity

On Wednesday, December 25th, 2024, Hanover Police while on patrol observed a suspicious vehicle around 10th Street. Police attempted to stop the vehicle which continued driving eventually pulling into a parking lot. As a result of police observations, a 20-year-old Brockton man was arrested for Impaired Driving. He later provided samples of this breath which were nearly twice the legal limit of alcohol. The driver’s license was suspended for 90-days, and his vehicle impounded. He was released with an upcoming court date in Walkerton.

Hanover Man Charged With Theft – Police Withhold Name

On Wednesday, January 1st, 2025, members of the Hanover Police Service received a theft report. The victim told police that an associate had been visiting and after they left a cellular phone was missing. Police gathered evidence and later located the suspect, a 38-year-old Hanover man. Hanover Police have charged the man under the Criminal Code with Theft and Breach of Probation. He was provided a court date in Walkerton and released from custody.
