Dalton JONES – Drunk Driving

(WARWICK TOWNSHIP, ON) – On January 26, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Confederation Line, Warwick Township.

As a result, Dalton JONES, 40-year-old from the Municipality of Lambton Shores, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and the Liquor Licence and Control Act with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on March 4, 2025, in the City of Sarnia to speak to the charges.

Bobbi-Lyn GROFF – Drunk Driving

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after single-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Thames Centre.

On January 25, 2025, at 3:22 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to the Westbound lanes of Highway 401 in Thames Centre for report of a single vehicle collision.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Bobbi-Lyn GROFF, a 46-year-old of London has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

·      Class G1 licence holder – carry front-seat passenger

·      Class G1 licence holder – drive on prohibited highway

·      Class G1 licence holder – drive at unlawful hour

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on March 4, 2025.

There were no injuries reported.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

Joseph DERUSH – Assault

(PETROLIA, ON) – A disturbance in Petrolia leads to charges.

On January 24, 2025, shortly after 5:30 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an address on Petrolia Line, Petrolia, for a report of a disturbance.

The investigation revealed that one individual was assaulted, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, Joseph DERUSH, 50-year-old of Petrolia has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

  • Assault
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Sarnia on March 10, 2025.

3 Deceased Following Collision

(IGNACE, ON) – The Dryden and Ignace Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision.

On the 23rd of January 2025, shortly after 3:30 a.m., officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to a fatal collision involving two commercial motor vehicles (CMV) on Highway 17 west of the township of Ignace.

As a result, three parties have been pronounced deceased at the scene. Highway 17 has since been reopened. While the investigation remains on-going, charges are not being considered at this time.

Traffic safety remains a top priority of the OPP and is a key component of the OPP’s public safety mandate. Investigations resulting in the loss of life and serious injuries can be complex to investigate. As the vast majority of fatal collisions are preventable, thorough and accurate investigations help ensure that motorists who cause these collisions are held accountable for their driving behaviours. The victims and their families deserve no less.

Matthew REIL Was Arrested

(HALIBURTON COUNTY, ON) – On January 23, 2025, at approximately 11:44 p.m., officers from the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for service in Highlands East Township.

Officers arrived at the location and found a driver in his vehicle with the engine running. After engaging in conversation with the driver, officers initiated an investigation into impaired driving.

As a result of the investigation, 39-year-old, Matthew REIL, was arrested and subsequently charged with:

·        Failure or Refusal to comply with demand

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before Ontario Court of Justice in Minden. Their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

Dylan BATES Was Arrested

(MIDLAND, ON) –  An overnight single vehicle crash near Quarry Road, Severn Township lead members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) into an impaired driving investigation and also closed the north bound lanes of Highway 400 for several hours.

Officers responded at approximately 11:18 p.m. January 26, 2025 to a report of a north bound single vehicle rollover into the centre median involving a small white car bearing Ontario plate #DAFY837 with two persons possibly trapped. Attending officers at the scene were assisted by Simcoe County Paramedic Services and Severn Township Fire Service in removing and triaging the two occupants and later transported them to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

An on scene OPP investigator through investigation, made a determination who the driver was and entered into an impaired driving investigation.

As a result of this investigation Dylan BATES 30 years of Elmira has been charged criminally with the following offences.

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand – bodily harm

And Further with

  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence and Control Act

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on the February 6, 2025, and also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved vehicle was towed and the subject of a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Randeep MANN – Impaired Driving

(ALLISTON, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver for driving while impaired in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On January 27, 2025, shortly after 12:30 a.m., Nottawasaga OPP received a call for a male driver asleep in his vehicle at the drive through window of McDonalds in Alliston.

The Officer located the vehicle shortly after, the vehicle was observed to be running with the windows up in front of the pay window. The driver was unresponsive, taking several attempts to wake him.

As of a result of the investigation the driver: Randeep MANN 47 years-old, of Otterville Ontario, was charge with:  

• Adult Operation while Impaired- alcohol and drugs

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

In addition to the charges, the driver was issued a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Bradford on February 20, 2025, to answer to the charges.

Jordan LEWIS – Hit & Run, Drunk Driving

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.   

On Saturday January 25, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Quinte West OPP officers were dispatched to a fail to remain collision. Through the investigation, it was discovered that one vehicle was stopped at the stop sign and was struck from behind.

The second vehicle fled the scene and was followed, at which time a witness observed the driver and passenger attempt to switch positions in the vehicle. Officers arrived on the scene and an approved screening device was utilized. The individual was then transported to the detachment for further testing.    

Jordan LEWIS, 29 years old from Prince Edward County, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Failure to stop after accident
  • Operation While Prohibited

The accused party were released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville, at a future date. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for forty-five days, and their licence was suspended for 90 days.

Sean MULLIN – Impaired Driving

(PUSLINCH TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge an Etobicoke resident criminally stemming from a motor vehicle collision.

On January 26, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP responded to a single motor-vehicle collision involving the vehicle landing into a nearby ditch on Roszell Road, Puslinch.

As a result of the investigation, Sean MULLIN, a 51-year-old of Etobicoke is charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on February 7, 2025.

William GOW Facing Several Charges

 (OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – An individual is facing multiple charges after causing mischief in a parking lot in Ingersoll.

On January 25, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m., members from the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a mischief complaint on Thames Street in the Town of Ingersoll.

As a result of the investigation, William GOW, a 44-years-of-age resident of Ingersoll was charged with the following:

  • Public Mischief
  • Mischief – Damage to Property
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation Motor Vehicle Without Insurance

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, located in Woodstock, on March 4, 2025.

18 Year Old Deceased – Snowmobile Collision

(PERTH EAST, ON) – An individual was pronounced deceased following a collision involving a single snowmobile that collided with a tree in the Township of Perth East.

On January 26th, 2025, members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Perth County Emergency Medical Services and Perth East Fire Department attended a collision on the trail near Perth Road 140.

The 18-year-old male driver and was transported to a local trauma centre where he was pronounced deceased.

The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club trail between Perth Road 135 and Road 140 was closed while the OPP Technical Collision Investigation were on scene investigating the collision. The trail has since been re-opened, but the investigation is ongoing.

The OPP wants to thank the friends and family of the deceased as well as the responding emergency services and Huron-Perth Victim Services for their assistance and support in dealing with this traumatic event.

Alen BAJRIC Was Arrested

(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham Detachment, has charged an individual following a traffic stop.

On January 25, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a member of the Elgin OPP stopped a passenger vehicle on Highbury Ave, south of Ron McNeil Line, Municipality of Central Elgin. An automated license plate reader (ALPR) notification was received for a suspended driver.

During the traffic stop, it was determined the driver was impaired.

The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to Elgin County Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Alen BAJRIC, a 34-year-old from London was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while prohibited under the criminal code
  • Operate motor vehicle without insurance
  • Drive while under suspension

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 45-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on March 11, 2025.

Christopher ASHDOWN – Drunk Driving

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) – The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested an individual for impaired-related offense after conducting a traffic stop for an erratic driver on Main Street in the Town of Huntsville.

On January 26, 2025 at 10:14p.m., the Huntsville OPP were on patrol and observed a vehicle leaving a licensed establishment and observed some erratic driving and a traffic stop was conducted.

The driver failed the Roadside Screening Device and was required to submit to further Breath Testing.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher ASHDOWN, 40-year-old of Huntsville Ontario, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on March 4, 2025.

If you plan to drink alcohol or take drugs, don’t include driving in that plan. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another option that takes driving out of the picture altogether.

WATSON – Drunk Driving

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – Reports of a vehicle in the ditch leads to one person charged with impaired.

On January 14, 2025, at approximately 8:45 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 11 in Evanturel Township.

The OPP located the vehicle and driver shortly after. As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to detachment for further testing.

Jason WATSON, 51 -years of age, of London Ontario, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – (80 plus)

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. They are scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on February 25, 2025.

Colin LAKE Was Arrested

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charges local resident criminally after assaulting a police officer.

On January 26, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Wellington County OPP detected a suspicious motor vehicle which led to a traffic stop being conducted on Third Line within Centre Wellington Township.

As a result of the investigation, Colin LAKE, a 37-year-old from Centre Wellington was charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Assault a Peace Officer

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on February 28, 2025.
