Brandon HRAZDIRA – Drunk Driving

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation following traffic enforcement.

On March 20, 2025, at around 3:15 a.m., police were on County Road 2 in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand when they observed a passenger vehicle travelling at 122 Km/h in a posted 70 Km/h limit.

The driver fled from police and the vehicle and was soon located at a nearby residence. Officers spoke to the driver and entered into an impaired operation investigation. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was made for a sample of breath. The person complied and with the result of ‘FAIL’, the individual was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further tests.

As a result, Brandon HRAZDIRA (age 31) from Whitby, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Flight from peace officer

–      Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed

–      Fail to notify change of address – licence.

In addition to a future court date, the driver was issued a 90-day licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

Fatal Collision

(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) – An individual is deceased following a two-vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle and commercial motor vehicle in the Municipality of Dutton-Dunwich.

On March 21, 2025, at approximately 3:30 a.m., members of the Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Fire and Emergency Services, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision at Highway 401 near Currie Road, Municipality of Dutton-Dunwich.

The collision involved a passenger vehicle that collided with a Commercial Motor Vehicle. The early investigation indicates the passenger vehicle was travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the highway.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 25-year-old from London, was transported by EMS and later pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

The driver/lone occupant of the commercial motor vehicle, reported no injuries.

The identity of the deceased individual will not be released out of respect for the family’s privacy.

The Elgin OPP with the assistance West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team continue to investigate the collision.

Highway 401 westbound lanes at Currie Road will be closed for an undetermined amount of time to allow for investigation.

22 Year Old From Mount Forest Arrested Again – Name Released

(WELLINGTON NORTH TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charges Mount Forest resident with four criminal charges.

On March 20, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP were dispatched to an address on Egremont Street South within Mount Forest involving a disturbance.

As a result of the investigation. Justin PITRE, 22-year-old of Mount Forest was charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or bodily harm
  • Uttering Threats – Damage property
  • Fail to comply with probation order (two counts)

The accused has been held in police custody, pending a bail hearing.

LANDRY Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- Pickup truck makes a wide right turn and almost strikes a fully marked OPP cruiser.

On March 20, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were in a fully marked cruiser travelling northbound on Highway 108. Police approached the traffic lights at Highway 108 and Hillside Drive South and entered the left turning lane while doing so a red pickup truck was turning right from Hillside Drive South almost striking the OPP cruiser. 

A traffic stop was initiated on Highway 108 north and while speaking to the driver police determined alcohol had been consumed and the driver was arrested.  

Paul LANDRY, 58 years-of-age from Ottawa was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Turn -not in safety

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 10, 2025.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension.

Assault With Weapon – BAKER

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- The East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a family dispute at a residence on Beckett Boulevard in the City of Elliot Lake resulting in one person being arrested.

On March 20, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., police attended the residence to speak to the complainant/parent and were advised that the younger family member was throwing household items around, swung a broom stick at the complainant and a grandparent and threatening to punch both victims in the face. 

Prior to police arrival the younger family member left the residence and was later arrested at 2:15 p.m., on Spine Road.

Dean BAKER, 27 years-of-age from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – two counts

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 10, 2025.

Warren TODD Was Arrested For Asault & Threats – Alcohol A Factor

(ORILLIA, ON) – Members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one male party following a disturbance at a residence in Brechin, Ramara Township.

On March 20,2025 at approximately 9:15 p.m. officers from the Orillia Detachment of the OPP were dispatched to a disturbance in Brechin with reports that a male party was leaving a residence impaired after assaulting and threatening another individual. Shortly after officers located the vehicle and suspect on Hwy 12 near Muley Point Road. Officers quickly determined the driver was impaired placing him under arrest.

As a result, Warren TODD, 50-year-old, from Orillia has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drug
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Assault
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Mischief Over $5000.00 x 2

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, to answer to the charges at a later date in April 2025. As a result of these charges, his driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for a period of 7 days.

Jacob FLOREAN Was Arrested

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested for impaired operation at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check.

On March 20, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check on Panache Lake Road in Espanola. A vehicle came through the RIDE, and police conducted Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) on the driver. As a result, the driver was arrested for impaired operation.

The driver, Jacob FLOREAN, 38-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on April 7, 2025.

$370 Fentanyl Bust

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person is facing impaired-related charges after police received a traffic complaint.

On March 20, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint reporting that a vehicle on Highway 17 was unable to maintain their lane while driving. Police located the vehicle on Highway 17 in the Nairn-Hyman Township and conducted a traffic stop. Further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested.

Additionally, police seized an amount of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of $370.

The driver, Meggan MCINTYRE, 40-years-old from Lively, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on May 5, 2025.

Fentanyl Bust – Name Released

(ORANGEVILLE, ON) – Officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized a quantity of drugs, including fentanyl, arrested an individual and executed a search warrant in Orangeville.

On March 17, 2025, the Dufferin OPP began an investigation near Fead Street in Orangeville. On March 20, 2025, the Dufferin OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) arrested one male and executed a search warrant that resulted in the seizure of the following items:

Cody CRAWFORD, a 32-year-old from Orangeville has been charged with:

·      Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 7

·      Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (Fentanyl)

·      Poss of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (Fentanyl)

The following items were seized during the investigation:

  • 19.7 grams of assorted coloured fentanyl
  • A note for Purolator to deliver the drugs to a mailbox
  • Cell phone

The investigation is ongoing into the supplier. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Dufferin OPP.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(LENNOX AND ADDINGTON COUNTY, ON) – Lennox and Addington County members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two people with impaired driving involving collisions in a four-hour window.

On Thursday, March 20, 2025, shortly after 12:00 p.m., L&A County OPP members were called about a vehicle that was involved in a collision on Melrose Road in Tyendinaga Township. Police located the vehicle nearby and the driver was arrested.

Taylor THORNE, a 34-year-old from Tyendinaga Township was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – over 80 mgs of alcohol

Also on Thursday, just after 4:00 p.m., L&A County OPP was called after a vehicle was observed in a driveway in Newburgh with considerable damage. Following an investigation,

Patricia STONE, a 63-year-old from Newburgh was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – over 80 mgs of alcohol
  • Fail to stop after accident

Both of the accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on April 15, 2025. Their driver’s licences were suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles were impounded.

Marlo BELANGER – Drunk Driving

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – A single motor vehicle collision has resulted in impaired driving charges for one Kirkland Lake resident.

On March 1,2025, at approximately 11:20 p.m. the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Carter Avenue in Kirkland Lake. The subject motor vehicle was located off the roadway and had collided with a snowbank and a tree. Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined the individual had consumed an alcoholic beverage. Officers also observed several open containers of alcohol in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kirkland Lake OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Marlo BELANGER, a 32-year-old from Kirkland Lake, has been charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

·      Operation while impaired by alcohol

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·      Driving while under suspension

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused was released from custody and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on March 20, 2025.

Drivers are reminded that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving. Whether you are impaired by alcohol or drugs, impaired is impaired and driving under the influence of either is a criminal offence. High School Assault

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) – On March 19, 2025 at 11:40a.m., the Huntsville OPP officers responded to a report of an assault at the local High School.  

The investigation revealed the accused, a male student, had allegedly threatened and then assaulted another student. The victim sustained injuries that required medical care. The extent of injuries are yet to be determined.

As a result of the investigation the accused was arrested and charged

·      Assault Causing Bodily Harm

·      Uttering Threats – To cause bodily harm.

The accused was released to the care a parent and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Ontario on May 8, 2025. The name of the accused is not released as per the restrictions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act and to respect the privacy of the victim.

John McGOURTY Was Arrested

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating separate incidents of assault.

On March 18, 2025, at around 12:30 p.m., police received a report of an assault which had occurred near a school in the Municipality of Trent Hills. Officers began an investigation into the incident involving minor injuries.

Through investigation, a 14-year-old, from the Municipality of Trent Hills, was arrested in relation to the incident and referred to an Extrajudicial Measures Program under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). They shall not be named under the provisions of the YCJA.

On March 20, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., an officer was patrolling Victoria Street in the Township of Cramahe, when they located an individual who was walking and believed to be connected to an earlier traffic complaint regarding an all-terrain vehicle.

The person was intoxicated and attempted to assault an officer while resisting arrest.

As a result, John McGOURTY (age 24), from Colborne, has been charged with:

–      Assault a Peace Officer

–      Resist Peace Officer

–      Being intoxicated in a public place.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.

WEST – Drunk Driving

(PEMBROKE, ON) – A local driver is facing Criminal Code (CC) charges after a single-vehicle collision in the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment area.

On March 13, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the UOV OPP responded to a collision involving a pickup truck and street light pole at the intersection of Angus Campbell Drive and Cockburn Crescent in the City of Pembroke. Investigation found that the vehicle was northbound on Angus Campbell Drive when it lost control and left the roadway, striking the light pole. The driver, who was the lone occupant of the pickup, was not seriously injured. 

As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing. Test results were more than double the legal blood alcohol limit. Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the collision. 

As a result of this incident Terrence James WEST, age 64 of Pembroke, has been charged with the following CC offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
  • Dangerous operation

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke April 7, 2025.

DERUITER – Drunk Driving

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – Driver facing impaired charge after motorcycle leaves road and enters ditch.

On March 19, 2025, at 7:07 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Middlesex-London Paramedic Service were dispatched to Sylvan Drive in North Middlesex, for the report of a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle.

The lone rider was placed under arrest and transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, Michael DERUITER, a 62-year-old of Strathroy, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on May 6, 2025.
