44 Year Old Repeat Offender Arrested For Break & Enter #3Strikes

(MIDLAND, ON) – What started off as a wellness check at a Manley Street resulted in officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arresting an individual at the scene for a break and enter offence.

Officers attended the residence after a the OPP Communication Centre took a call at approximately 10:32 a.m. May 6, 2025 and upon arrival located an individual who had forcibly entered a rear yard shed at the address.

Philip PICKARD 44 years of Tay Township was arrested at the scene and transported to Detachment to be processed on the following criminal charges.

  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

And faces further charges while being held at Detachment after tossing a noxious substance in the cell and holding areas requiring an external cleaning service.

The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

John MAGNAN Arrested Following Collision

(DOURO-DUMMER TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged an individual with impaired driving after receiving a call regarding a single vehicle collision.

On May 6, 2025, just after 6:30pm, Peterborough County OPP Officers were dispatched to a report of a collision that took place on Nassau Road in Douro-Dummer Township. Upon arrival, officers observed a single vehicle that had rolled over coming to rest on its side. Officers spoke with the driver after having minor injuries assessed by EMS. After a brief conversation, a demand was read to the driver to submit to an Approved Screening Device (ASD) test. The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a reading of ‘FAIL’ at which point the driver was arrested.

John MAGNAN (age 63) of Hamilton – Dundas, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 10, 2025

Drug Bust – Names Released

(ESPANOLA, ON) – The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have executed a search warrant in Espanola, leading to the arrest of two individuals as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

On May 6, 2025, the Manitoulin OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from Manitoulin OPP members, executed a search warrant on a residence in Espanola. During the search, police seized a quantity of suspected drugs and arrested two people.

The suspected drugs seized included an amount of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $3,500, an amount of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of $21,800, an amount of suspected oxycodone pills with an estimated street value of $150, and $2,550 in Canadian currency.

Shawn BOWLES, 49-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (opioid) – two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Matthew EVBUOMWAN, 19-years-old from Ajax, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (opioid) – two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Fail to comply with sentence

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court today, May 7, 2025.

Ralph BELANGER – Impaired Operation

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person is facing impaired-related charges after police received a report of a suspicious vehicle.

On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a suspicious vehicle near Albert Street in Espanola. Shortly after, police located the vehicle at a parking lot on Centre Street in Espanola, and conducted a traffic stop. Police noticed an odour of cannabis emanating from the vehicle, and further investigation on scene resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired operation.

As a result, Ralph BELANGER, 61-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – Drugs
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Monday, July 7, 2025.

April Nicole KRZYZANIAK – Impaired Operation

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after a traffic stop on Beachburg Road in Whitewater Region Township.

On May 6, 2025, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Renfrew OPP received a report of a suspected impaired driving leaving Arnprior.

Police located the vehicle on Beachburg Road and completed a traffic stop.

As a result of the investigation, April Nicole KRZYZANIAK, age 53 of Whitewater Region was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on June 4, 2025. The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Karen WILCOX Was Arrested

(ESPANOLA, ON) – A driver is facing charges after a traffic stop on Highway 17.

On Monday, May 5, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 17 in the Sables-Spanish Rivers Township. Police detected an odour of cannabis emanating from the vehicle, and further investigation resulted in the drive being arrested for impaired operation.

As a result, Karen WILCOX, 61-years-old from Massey, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drugs
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Improper number plate light

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Monday, June 2, 2025.

Deborah BENOIT Was Arrested

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person is facing charges after police received a call reporting a possible impaired driver.

On Sunday, May 5, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call reporting a driver passed out at the wheel at an address on First Street in Webbwood. Police arrived on scene, and further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested.

As a result, Deborah BENOIT, 69-years-old from Webbwood, was charged with operation while impaired – drugs.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Monday, June 2, 2025.

Kincardine Drug Bust

(KINCARDINE, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are advising that two individuals face charges after a search warrant was executed in the Municipality of Kincardine.

On May 2, 2025, members of the Grey Bruce Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Huron Perth CSCU, OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine, and the South Bruce Crime Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence along Albert Road, Municipality of Kincardine.

CSCU members recovered approximately $28,000 worth of stolen property, including an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV), a snowmobile, and surveying equipment. A small quantity of suspected illicit drugs were also seized. Owners of the seized property have been contacted.

As a result of the investigation, the following individuals face multiple charges:

Laurent LUCIER, 47-years-old, of the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime, CC 354(1)(a) – four counts
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance, CDSA 4(1)

The accused was released and is set to appear at the Walkerton Court of Justice on June 4, 2025.

Dale CONANT, 46-years-old, of the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with:

  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, CC 117.01(1) – three counts
  • Fail to comply with release order, CC 145(5)(a)
  • Fail to comply with probation order, CC 733.1(1) – two counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime, CC 354(1)(a) – four counts
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance, CDSA 4(1)

The accused was held for a bail hearing and subsequently remanded into custody.

30 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(BRANT,ON) – On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at approximately 3:20 p.m., members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an erratic driver, possibly impaired, travelling along Highway 403.

Through investigation, officers determined that the driver had been involved in a collision shortly before police located the vehicle. Upon interacting with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. The individual was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Nyong James, a 30-year-old male, from Windsor, has been charged with the following Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Fail to stop after an accident
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Fail to move to the right for an emergency vehicle

The accused’s vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days. They are scheduled to appear at the Brantford Court of Justice on May 23, 2025.

Suspended Driver Arrested For Drunk Driving – Boyd SHIGWADJA

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – One person has been arrested and is facing impaired-related charges after police received multiple traffic complaints.

On Monday, May 5, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received multiple reports of a possible impaired driver on Manitowaning Road in Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands (NEMI) Township. Shortly after, police located the vehicle on Highway 6 in the NEMI Township, and further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested.

As a result, Boyd SHIGWADJA, 52-years-old from Garson, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(DUFFERIN COUNTY, ON) – The Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two drivers with impaired operation related offences, within a half-hour of each other.

On May 6, 2025, around midnight, officers from Dufferin OPP were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot check in both the Town of Grand Valley and the Town of Orangeville.

Just before midnight in the Town of Grand Valley a driver entered a RIDE at the corner of Water and William Street and after speaking with the driver, police entered an impaired operation investigation.

John BRUNNING, a 30-year-old from Erin has been charged with:

•      Adult Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

•      Adult Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor

•      Adult Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition

As a result of this encounter two firearms have been seized.

In the Town of Orangeville, just after midnight, a RIDE spot check was held on Second Avenue. A driver entered the RIDE and after speaking with police, an impaired operation investigation commenced.

Sean CUNNINGHAM, a 25-year-old from Orangeville has been charged with:

•      Adult Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs

The accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charges.

Bryton WAGOOSH Was Arrested

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – A driver has been arrested and charged after police received traffic complaint.

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle that had made an unsafe pass, forcing another vehicle off the road on Highway 540 in the Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands (NEMI) Township. Police located the vehicle on Highway 551 in M’Chigeeng First Nation, and further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested.

As a result, Bryton WAGOOSH, 30-years-old from Whitefish River First Nation, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

Kathleen LOCKERBIE Was Arrested

(NEW TECUMSETH, ON)- Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one individual with refusal following a motor vehicle collision in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On May 6, 2025, shortly after 9:30 p.m., Nottawasaga OPP responded to a vehicle in the ditch in the area of 4th Line, in the Town of New Tecumseth. Officers located the vehicle and met with the driver. During the interaction, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol, the driver refused to provided a breath sample leading to the driver’s arrest.  

As a result of the investigation, Kathleen LOCKERBIE 37-years-old of Tottenham was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on June 3, 2025, to answer to the charge.

89 in a 60 Results In Drug Bust

(ESPANOLA, ON) – Two people have been arrested following a traffic stop on Highway 17.

On Friday, May 2, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was travelling 89 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone on Highway 17 in the Baldwin Township. Upon interacting with the driver, police observed open alcohol inside the vehicle. Further investigation on scene resulted in police locating suspected drugs, and the driver and passenger were arrested.

Police seized an amount of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of $1,000, an amount of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $850, and an amount of suspected crack cocaine with an estimate street value of $1,200.

The driver, Ricky GADABUSHIE, 43-years-old from Sudbury, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – other drugs

The passenger, Angele CAYER, 42-years-old from Azilda, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – other drugs

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Monday, June 2, 2025.

Harold SOUTHWIND Was Arrested

(ESPANOLA, ON) – A driver has been arrested and is facing charges after a traffic stop.

On Friday, May 2, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrols on Barber Street in the Town of Espanola, and were alerted to a suspended driver by the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system. A traffic stop was conducted, and further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired operation.

As a result, the driver, Harold SOUTHWIND, 48-years-old from Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation, was charged with operation while impaired – drugs.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Monday, June 2, 2025.
