Christopher BRITTON Was Arrested

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Elgin County (Moravian Town First Nation) has arrested one individual after an investigation involving a stolen motor vehicle.

On June 2, 2025, at approximately 3:35 p.m., members of the Moravian Town First Nations Police received a report of a possible stolen camper trailer located on a property on Centre Road in Moravian Town.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher BRITTON, 49-year-old of Chatham-Kent was charged with:

  •  Possession of Property Obtained by crime over $5000.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham Kent on the 14th of July 2025.

Dawson DRENNAN – Assault

(HALDIMAND COUNTY) – An individual has been charged following an assault investigation.

On May 23, 2025, members of the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault on Lock Street in Dunnville.

At the time, the victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

On June 1, 2025, 26-year-old Dawson DRENNAN of Dunnville was taken into custody and has been charged with:

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm

OPP Remind Students Friday Is Beach Day #StaySafe #NoSchool

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Norfolk County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is aware that many local students have marked the first Friday in June as “Beach Day.”

While this unofficial tradition is not endorsed by schools or law enforcement, students often leave school – sometimes without parental consent – to gather at beaches in Long Point, Turkey Point, and Port Dover.

The OPP encourages all students who plan to take part to make responsible decisions and make safety a top priority. There will be an increased police presence in and around local beaches and surrounding communities throughout the day.

Officers will be focusing on behaviours that put people at risk, including:

  • Underage drinking
  • Impaired driving
  • Trespassing
  • Property damage
  • Any other unlawful or unsafe activity

Violations under the Highway Traffic Act, Liquor Licence and Control Act, Cannabis Control Act, Trespass to Property Act, and the Criminal Code will be strictly enforced.

Travis ATATISE Was Arrested

(NIPIGON, ON) – Members of the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation following two separate traffic complaints.

On the 21st day of May 2025, just before 6:30 p.m., members of the Nipigon OPP Detachment responded to reports of a suspected impaired driver on Highway 11&17, east bound from the Shuniah area.

Officers located the suspect vehicle near Nipigon and conducted a traffic stop. The driver provided a sample of breath into the Approved Screening Device (ASD), which registered a fail. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the detachment for further testing with a Breath Technician.

As a result, Travis ATATISE, 37-years-old, of Thunder Bay, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with;

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, Section 320.14(1)(a)
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), Section 320.14(1)(b)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon at a future court date.

Richard Geelen – Impaired Operation

(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Elgin Detachment, has charged an individual following a traffic complaint.

On May 31, 2025, at approximately 7:50 a.m., a member of the Elgin OPP investigated a traffic complaint reported by a motorist. The suspect vehicle was located on Wellington Road in the Municipality of Central Elgin.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined the driver was impaired.

The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to Elgin County Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Richard Geelen, a 61-year-old from London was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin) (2 Counts)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas at a later date.

Rudra PATEL Was Arrested

( NEW TECUMSETH, ON)- Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one individual with impaired driving following a motor vehicle collision in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On June 3, 2025, shortly after 1:00 a.m., Nottawasaga OPP responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 89 and County Road 56, in the Town of New Tecumseth. Officers located the vehicle and met with the driver. During the interaction, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol, leading to the driver’s arrest.  

As a result of the investigation, Rudra PATEL 27-years-old of Cookstown was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on July 3, 2025, to answer to the charge.

Pants Down & Yelling Leads to Repeat Offender Kyle CURTIS’s Arrest

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid multiple charges against a male after an afternoon disturbance In the City of Orillia.

On June 1, 2025, shortly after 3:00 p.m., officer from the Orillia OPP were called to a disturbance regarding a male yelling at plaza on West St. S with his pants down. Police arrived on scene and attempted to speak with the male with negative effect. As the male began to escalate and resist officers, he was arrested and taken into custody.

As a result, Kyle CURTIS 42-year-old male, of Fenton Falls has been charged with the following:

  • Adult Fail to Comply with Probation Order X2
  • Adult Causing a Disturbance
  • Adult Resist Peace Officer
  • Adult Poss of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

The accused was held for a Bail Hearing and Remanded into custody

Fatal Collision

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Middlesex County OPP investigating a fatal single vehicle collision.

On June 2, 2025, at 12:45 p.m., emergency services including members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and Southwest Middlesex Fire, were dispatched to Pratt Siding Road in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex for the report of a single vehicle collision.  

Early investigation revealed the vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire. As a result, the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at scene.

Members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team attended to assist with the investigation.

Pratt Siding Road remained closed for approximately five hours between Longwoods Road and McMurchy Line and has since opened.

Fatal Motorcycle Collision

(ESSEX, ON)- On June 2, 2025, at approximately 11:48 a.m., members of the Essex OPP Detachment, Essex Fire and Rescue Services and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and passenger vehicle on County Road 18, west of County Road 15 in the Town of Essex.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The motorcyclist was transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

Members of the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) are assisting Essex Detachment with the investigation.

As a result of the collision, County Road 18 is closed between County Road 15 and Rizzo Nicola Road.

Investigators would like to speak anyone who may have observed these vehicles prior to the collision, who observed the collision or who may have dashcam footage of the collision.

Abdalla DAOUD Was Arrested Again #RepeatOffender

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On May 31, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person at a residence on Colwill Drive.

Police were called in relation to a family dispute regarding a person threatening others after a verbal argument. Once on scene, it was learned that the person was breaching prior release conditions and had numerous warrants from Ottawa Police Service. Subsequently, the person was arrested charged.

Abdalla DAOUD, 40-years-old, of Ottawa, was additionally charged with:

  • Failure to comply with Release Order
  • Produce a Schedule III substance

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on June 1, 2025.

Human Remains Found Following House Fire

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On Sunday, May 11, 2025, at approximately 3:32 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment, Haldimand County Fire Department, and Paramedic Services responded to a fire at a Kinross Street, Caledonia address.

Attending firefighters arrived on scene and were met with a fully engulfed house fire. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire however human remains were located inside the home. The identity of the deceased remains under investigation.

The Haldimand County OPP Crime Unit is continuing to investigate in conjunction with the Office of the Fire Marshall, the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. 

The fire is not being treated as suspicious, and no foul play is suspected.

Christopher THOMPSON – Theft

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual was charged following a shoplifting investigation in Simcoe.

At approximately 12:59 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a shoplifting incident on Queensway East in Simcoe.

The investigation determined that an individual entered a business, concealed merchandise, and exited without making payment.

Officers located the individual on the property and took them into custody without incident.

41-year-old Christopher THOMPSON from Hamilton, Ontario, has been charged with the following alleged offence:

  • Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

Joseph MCQUEEN Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Repeat Offenders Parole Enforcement (ROPE) arrested a person with numerous outstanding warrants.  

On May 30, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m. police arrested the person at a commercial business on Monck Road in Ramara Township. The person had been evading police and had outstanding charges and three warrants.      

Joseph MCQUEEN, 48-years-old, of Orillia, was arrested and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Orillia on May 31, 2025.

Jacob HOAG Was Arrested For Assault

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following an assault investigation in Simcoe.

At approximately 12:54 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025, the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault on Miller Cresent in Simcoe.

Through investigation, it was determined that two individuals were involved in an interaction inside a residence, during which one was physically assaulted and sustained minor injuries.

As a result, one individual was taken into custody without incident.

28-year-old Jacob HOAG from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offence:

  • Assault.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Monday, June 2, 2025.

Joseph WIRTZ Was Arrested

(TERRACE BAY, ON) – An impaired driver was taken off the road thanks to a 9-1-1 call from a concerned citizen. 

On May 25, 2025, at approximately 3:30 pm, the Schreiber Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a 9-1-1 call from a concerned citizen who reported seeing a possible impaired driver in the Town of Terrace Bay.  

Officers located the vehicle on Highway 17 and conducted an investigation. The roadside use of the Alcohol Screening Device (ASD) resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested at the scene and transported to the Schreiber Detachment for further testing with a Breath Technician. 

Joseph WIRTZ 32-years-old, from Terrace Bay has been charged under the Criminal Code;

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, Section 320.14(1)(a)CC   
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), Section 320.14(1)(b)CC

The accused was released by the Schreiber OPP and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Schreiber Court to speak to the charges.

The OPP relies on the public to report crime. Impaired driving is a serious crime that should be treated no differently. No amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving.
