(PETERBOROUGH COUNTY, ON) – Members of the Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police, arrested an individual on outstanding warrants related to dangerous driving on a motorcycle.
On June 23, 2025, at approximately 11:00am, a Peterborough County OPP officer was conducting patrol in Havelock when they observed a blue and white sport style motorcycle with no licence plate pull out from a local business. The officer activated their emergency lights in an effort to conduct a traffic stop and the motorcycle sped away at a high rate of speed. The identity of the rider was obtained, and a warrant was sought and issued.
On August 8, 2025, at approximately 12:00pm, a Peterborough County OPP officer was conducting patrol on Highway 7 through Asphodel-Norwood Township. The officer observed what they believed to be the same motorcycle with the same rider approaching from the opposite direction. As the motorcycle passed, the officer observed there was still no licence plate. The officer conducted a u-turn to conduct a traffic stop but the motorcycle sped off at a high rate of speed.
On August 29, 2025, at approximately 7:30pm, a Peterborough Count OPP officer observed a red and silver sport style motorcycle with no licence plate, on county Road 40 in Asphodel-Norwood Township. The officer recognized the rider as being the same from the previous occurrences. The officer activated their emergency lights and upon doing so, the motorcycle sped away.
On Tuesday September 9, 2025, officers from the Peterborough/Northumberland CSCU attended an address in Trent Hills in an attempt to execute the warrants. The accused was located on the property and was arrested.
Colton HUTLEY-STEPHENS (age 19) of Trent Hill, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
• Dangerous operation – three counts
• Flight from peace officer – two counts
• Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – three counts
• Drive motor vehicle – no licence
• Drive motor vehicle – no plates
The accused was transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment where he was held for Bail.
