Arshdeep SINGH Was Arrested

(PICTON, ON) – The Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver following an incident involving a failure to stop and dangerous driving in Picton.

On February 24, 2026, shortly after 9:00 a.m., officers with the Prince Edward County OPP observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Talbot Street. Police activated emergency lights; however, the vehicle failed to stop and entered a residential zone. For public safety reasons, officers discontinued the pursuit and relayed vehicle details to the Provincial Communications Centre.

A subsequent review of the Automatic Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) footage identified a distinctive vehicle with mismatched seasonal wheels. Officers later located the vehicle on County Road 1 and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver, Arshdeep SINGH, age 22 year of Belleville, was arrested and charged with:

  • Flight from peace officer
  • Dangerous operation
  • Race a motor vehicle

The vehicle was impounded for 14 days. The accused was later released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at later date.

Public safety remains the OPP’s top priority. Dangerous driving behaviour that puts the community at risk will not be tolerated. Anyone who observes a dangerous driver is asked to call 911. Mathew LOWDER Arrested At RIDE

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) – A motorist has been charged with impaired driving after being stopped at a RIDE program in Prince Edward County.

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, shortly before 2:30 a.m., officers with the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE program on Highway 62.

Officers utilized an approved roadside alcohol screening device on a driver. As a result, the individual was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing. Further investigation determined that the driver was already prohibited from operating a vehicle and was driving while under multiple suspensions.

Mathew LOWDER, age 36 of Belleville, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on November 12, 2025.

The individual’s vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

Double Trouble: Theft Suspect Nabbed for Impaired Driving Same Day

On September 23rd at 12:13pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of theft from a business on Bell Blvd. Video surveillance showed a male suspect stealing items before leaving in a vehicle with a female passenger.

At 12:56pm, Belleville police received a separate report of a possible impaired driver in the downtown area. Officers attended and located the suspect vehicle in a parking lot, which was bearing the same license plate as the vehicle involved in the earlier reported theft.

Officers approached the vehicle and spoke to the male driver. Upon further investigation, officers observed the male to be impaired and observed glass pipes in the vehicle.

As a result of investigation, Mark Proctor, 49-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft under $5000
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Drive commercial motor vehicle – no license
  • Failure to surrender permit for motor vehicle

He was released on an Undertaking and scheduled to appear in court in November.

4 Arrested In Drug Bust – Names Released

(BANCROFT, ON) – Four people have been charged following a drug trafficking investigation, which began in the summer of 2025 by Bancroft OPP.

On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, the OPP Community Street Crime Unit, Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit and members of the Bancroft Detachment executed a warrant at a residence in Faraday Township.

Officers located a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, Canadian currency, a conducted energy weapon (CEW) and other items commonly related to drug trafficking.

Kent BOWERS, age 41, from Belleville has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, methamphetamine 
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Fail to comply with probation order – three counts

Erica OLMSTEAD, age 32, from Hastings Highlands has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, methamphetamine 
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Fail to comply with probation order

Christopher RAMSAY, age 47, from Faraday Township has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order – nine counts
  • Fail to comply with probation order – two counts

Tanya SHWEDO, age 47, from Faraday Township has been arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a weapon.

All four accused remain in custody pending upcoming court dates.

Jeffrey MANN – Drunk Driving

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) – A motorist has been charged with impaired driving after being stopped at a RIDE program in Prince Edward County.

Officers with the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, shortly after 12:00 a.m., on County Road 4.

A vehicle entered the RIDE program and officers utilized an approved roadside alcohol screening device on the driver. As a result, the individual was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

Jeffrey MANN, age 39 of Belleville, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on October 8, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.
