Dennis CHURCHILL – Robbery, Threats, etc.

(SOUTHWOLD, ON) – One person is facing several charges following an incident at a Bush Line address in Southwold Township.

On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at approximately 6:17 a.m. member of the Elgin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an address on Bush Line in Southwold Township where they encountered a barricaded person.

Charged with the following Criminal Code offences is Dennis CHURCHILL a 38-year-old, of Elgin County, Ontario:

  • Robbery with Theft
  • Uttering threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Hydromorphone
  • Possession of a Schedule IV substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Nabilone
  • Possession of Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

The accused remains in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on the July 17,2025.

Renee POTVIN Was Arrested – Details Released

(LEAMINGTON, ON)- On July 16, 2025, at approximately 11:33 a.m., members of the Leamington Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment conducted a traffic stop Satinwood Cresent in the Municipality of Leamington.

Upon speaking to the driver, officers detected signs of impairment. The driver was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further testing.

As a result, Renee POTVIN, 44-years-old, resident of Leamington, was charged under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substance Act, Liquor Licence Control Act and the Cannabis Control Act with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – B.A.C. (80 plus)

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

·        Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·        Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis in open baggage

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on July 31, 2025.

Meth Bust – WILKINSON, GOODISON & SMISEK,

(LEAMINGTON, ON)- Police have charged four individuals following the execution of a warrant in Leamington.

On Friday July 11, 2025, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Essex County Community Street Crime Unit, OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP K9 Unit and Leamington OPP uniform members, executed a search warrant at an address on Erie Street South in the Municipality of Leamington.

Police seized quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, a prohibited weapon and ammunition.

As a result of the investigation, four individuals were arrested and charged under the Criminal Code.

Tarra WILKINSON, 43-year-old of Leamington was charged with:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·        Unauthorized Possession of Weapon

·        Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition

Daryl GOODISON, 47-year-old of Leamington was charged with:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·        Unauthorized Possession of Weapon

·        Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition

Liam SMISEK, 25-year-old of Leamington was charged with:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·        Unauthorized Possession of Weapon

·        Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition

All three accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on August 18, 2025.

And a 17-year-old youth was also charged with:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·        Unauthorized Possession of Weapon

·        Careless storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited device or ammunition

·        Failure to comply with undertaking (Three Counts)

The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

The youth was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor.

Chad BURTT – Drunk Driving

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an Orangeville resident with impaired driving-related offences following a call for service.

On July 13, 2025, shortly after 12:15 a.m., officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for service in the area of Perry Road in the Town of Orangeville. Officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the male driver, officers observed signs of impairment, prompting them to initiate an impaired driving investigation.

Chad BURTT, a 49-year-old male, from Orangeville has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•      Mischief

•      Driver fail to surrender licence

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and their vehicle impounded.

Jackson COATES – Drunk Driving

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an Orangeville resident with impaired driving-related offences following a complaint at a local dining establishment.

On July 12, 2025, shortly after 1:30 a.m., officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a disturbance at a dining establishment on Centennial Road in the Town of Orangeville. The suspect had left the area prior to police arrival. Officers were able to locate the vehicle near Hunter Road. Upon contact, officers spoke with the male driver and observed signs of impairment, prompting them to initiate an impaired driving investigation.

Jackson COATES, a 27-year-old male, from Orangeville has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and their vehicle impounded.

33 Year Old From Central Huron Arrestd

(HURON EAST, ON) – On July 1st, 2025, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Municipality of Huron East.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed criminal acts against their partner.

A 33-year-old individual from Central Huron has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

–      Assault Causing Bodily Harm,

–      Assault with a Weapon,

–      Theft Under $5,000.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on July 28th, 2025.

North Huron Repeat Offender Released Again

(HURON EAST, ON) – On July 1st, 2025, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a matter involving intimate partners in the Municipality of Huron East.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had allegedly committed criminal acts against their partner.

A 32-year-old individual from North Huron has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

–      Criminal Harassment,

–      Breach of Recognizance – (three counts).

The accused was processed, and held for a bail hearing. The accused was later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on August 11th, 2025.

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Shelburne resident with impaired driving-related offences following a traffic complaint.

On July 11, 2025, shortly before 9:00 p.m., officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a motorcycle in the ditch in the area of James Street and Sarah Court in the Town of Shelburne. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the male driver and observed signs of impairment, prompting them to initiate an impaired driving investigation.

Justice HEWITT, a 30-year-old male, from Shelburne has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•      Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

•      Possess unmarked cigarettes

•      Driver fail to surrender licence

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and their vehicle impounded.

Mark AUSTERBERRY – Drunk Driving

(HAVELOCK-BELMONT-METHUEN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving in Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township.

On July 16, 2025, just after 1:00pm, Peterborough County OPP officers received a call advising of a person who had been located at the side of the road laying next to a vehicle. Officers, along with EMS were dispatched to the location on Belmont 7th Line. Upon speaking with the individual, officers determined them to be under the influence of alcohol, and they were arrested. Samples of the accused’s breath were tested and returned readings over three times the legal limit.

Mark AUSTERBERRY (age 39) of Norwood, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on August 26, 2025.

Brittney HUYGEN Arrested Following Hit & Run

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) – On July 16, 2025, at approximately 9:40 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision on Bruce Road 19, Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.

Police attended and discovered that a vehicle had driven on a closed section of Bruce Road 19 and struck a parked excavator. The driver fled the scene, however, was located shortly thereafter. The investigating officer detected signs of impairment from the driver, they were taken into custody and transported for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Brittney HUYGEN, 26-years-old, of the Municipality of Brockton, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – B.A.C. 80 plus, CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Dangerous Operation, CC 320.13(1)
  • Fail to remain, HTA 200(1)(a)
  • Fail to report accident, HTA 199(1)
  • Drive on closed highway, HTA 134(3)
  • Fail to surrender licence, HTA 33(1)

The accused is set to appear on August 13, 2025, at the Walkerton Ontario Court of Justice to answer to the charges.

Gang Stabbing – One Airlifted

(MOOSONEE, ON) – The James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a violent assault that left one person with serious injuries.

On Thursday July 10, 2025 at approximately 11:30 p.m., the James Bay OPP, and Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) Paramedic Service responded to a report of an assault on Bay Road in Moosonee. The victim was reportedly attacked by multiple individuals and suffered several stab wounds.

The victim was transported by ambulance to a local health clinic and later airlifted to hospital for further treatment.

The investigation remains ongoing and is being conducted by the James Bay OPP and the James Bay Crime Unit, with support from the OPP’s Forensic Identification Services.

Kristy Brobbel – Impaired Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation after being alerted to a possible impaired driver in Norland.

On Wednesday July 16, 2025 at approximately 11:58 am officers were notified of a possible impaired driver that were operating a pick up truck believed to be impaired on Highway 35 in Norland. Officers located the vehicle and entered into an impaired driving investigation. The driver was arrested and charged with Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act offences.

Kristy Brobbel, 40-year-old of Dysart Et Al, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance -Opiod (other than heroin)
  • Driving While Under Suspension

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The drivers license was suspended for 90 days and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Teens Wreck Chepstow Ball Diamonds – Name Released

(BROCKTON, ON) – On July 12, 2025, at approximately 8:31 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of overnight damages to the ball diamonds in Chepstow, Municipality of Brockton.

Police attended and discovered that a pick-up truck and an Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) had attended the ball diamonds the previous evening, drove through the grass and spun tires causing damages to the area.

As a result of the investigation, two individuals face charges:

Cory HARRON, 18-years-old, resident of Brockton was charged with:

  • Mischief – destroys or damages property, CC 430(1)(a)

A 17-year-old resident of Brockton was charged with:

  • Mischief – destroys or damages property, CC 430(1)(a)
  • Dangerous operation, CC 320.13(1)
  • Obstruct peace officer, CC 129(a)

The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

The accused are set to appear on September 3, 2025, at the Walkerton Ontario Court of Justice to answer to the charges.

28 Year Old From South Bruce Arrested

(BROCKTON, ON) – On July 11, 2025, at approximately 1:03 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision on Yonge Street South at Highway 9, Municipality of Brockton.

Police attended and discovered that a vehicle had struck a light standard. The driver was transported to local hospital with minor injuries. The investigating officer attended the hospital and detected signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, Leobardo SANCHEZ SANCHEZ, 28-years-old, of the Municipality of South Bruce, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – B.A.C. 80 plus, CC 320.14(1)(b)

The accused is set to appear on August 24, 2025, at the Walkerton Ontario Court of Justice to answer to the charge.
