Steven COURNEYEA – Drunk Driving

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.

On July 20, 2025, at approximately 12:15 a.m., a traffic complaint on County Road 40, led Quinte West OPP to suspect a motorist may have been under the influence of alcohol.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Quinte West Detachment for testing, as a result of which charges were laid.

Steven COURNEYEA , age 55, from Tyendinaga, was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 7, 2025. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their licence suspended for 90 days.

Dylon SMITH-AWEDA Was Arrested Again

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual with drug related and other offences, following an investigation in Quinte West.

On Friday, July 18, 2025, at approximately 12:00 p.m., Officers with the Quinte West OPP, the OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine Unit and Belleville Police Service (BPS) arrested an individual at the Quinte Mall, in the City of Belleville, stemming from an incident that occurred in Quinte West. As a result, cash, Fentanyl, Xannax, a forged document and an unauthorized weapon were confiscated.

Dylon SMITH-AWEDA, 26 years old from Quebec, was charged with the following:

  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada
  • Traffick in Schedule I substance – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Traffick in Schedule IV substance – Other Drugs
  • Possession of a forged document with intent
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order x5

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 23, 2025

Tyler MOISES Arrested Following Collision

(LAIRD TOWNSHIP, ON) – A person was charged after crashing car into median on Highway 17 near Townline Road.

On July 19, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call pertaining to a vehicle stuck in the median and a loan male driver in an intoxicated state.  Police attended, arrested the driver and the grey car was towed and impounded.   

Tyler MOISES, 31-years-old, from Echo Bay was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs
  • Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on September 4, 2025.

Sukhjeet Singh SEKHON – Impaired Operation, Etc.

(SHEDDEN TOWNSHIP, ON) – A person was charged with impaired after police were called to Motor Vehicle Collision (MVC) on Highway 17, west of Spanish.

On July 19, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call of a black Jeep all over the road travelling east bound on Highway 17. A short time later, another call reported the black Jeep had crashed into the ditch. Police attended and subsequently arrested the driver. It was also learned the black Jeep was stolen, which was later towed and impounded.  

Sukhjeet Singh SEKHON , 20-years-old, from Calgary Alberta, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by drugs
  • Careless driving
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on September 4, 2025.

Mackenzie VENTURA – Impaired Operation

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP., ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver following a stop in a parking lot.

On July 19, 2025, just before 7:30 p.m., OPP received a report of a possible impaired driver at a local business. Police attended the 1100 block of Pembroke St. E in Laurentian Valley Township. Police located the vehicle and driver. The driver was transported to the detachment for testing.

Mackenzie VENTURA, 30 years old, of Nepean was charged with impaired operation.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. They were released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on August 18, 2025.

Johnathan WIESENBERG-MOSS Was Arrested

(PEMBROKE, ON.) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver after multiple traffic complaints in the City of Pembroke.

On July 17, 2025, just before 11:30 p.m., OPP received multiple 911 calls about a vehicle on a road with the driver who appeared unconscious. Police located the vehicle, and driver. The driver was then transported to a local hospital by Renfrew County Paramedic Services. The driver was later transported to the detachment for further testing.

Johnathan WIESENBERG-MOSS, 42 years old, of Whitewater Region Township was charged with impaired operation as well as possession for the purpose of trafficking schedule II.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. They were released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on August 12, 2025.

One Overboard, One Dead #Preventable

(GANANOQUE, ON) – The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a possible drowning incident on the St. Lawrence River near the Town of Gananoque.

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, shortly after 6:30 p.m., Leeds OPP responded to a report of an individual who had fallen out of a stationary boat. The individual was not wearing a personal floatation device (PFD) and was located in the water several minutes later.

Despite the efforts of the Leeds County OPP Marine Unit, the Leeds and Thousand Islands Fire Department, and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), the 20-year-old of Nepean, ON was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A postmortem examination will be conducted. Leeds OPP is continuing their investigation in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.

The individual’s identity will not be released to safeguard the privacy of the grieving family.

Dean PERSEO Was Arrested

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual from Ottawa with Impaired Driving related charges.

Shortly after 4:00 a.m. on July 20, Ottawa OPP responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision in the center median of Highway 417, near Richardson Side Road. Upon arrival, officers observed signs of confusion from the driver when inquiring about the cause of the incident. A roadside screening device was administered, which led to the driver being transported to the Ottawa Detachment for further testing.

Dean PERSEO, 51 years of age faces the following charges:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

Perseo is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice, in Ottawa at a later date. As a result of the charges, the individual’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

One Airlifted To Hospital – Richard MOORE Arrested Again #3Strikes

(TOWNSHIP OF MUSKOKA LAKES, ON) – The Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a boating collision that occurred on Skeleton Lake in Muskoka Lakes Township that sent one person to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On July 19, 2025, just before 5:00 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers along with Muskoka EMS and Muskoka Lakes Fire Department, received several emergency calls from members of the public reporting that there had been a boating collision on Skeleton Lake in Muskoka Lakes Township near Skeleton Lake Road 5. Callers reported that a boat had collided with a swimmer and people on shore had managed to bring the victim out of the water. First responders were on scene quickly and the victim, a 22-year-old Georgina man, was rushed to hospital and further transported by air to a Toronto area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police located the operator of the vessel and have arrested and charged 39-year-old Richard MOORE of Niagara Falls, ON with the following:

  • Impaired Operation Causing Bodily Harm
  • Failure/Refusal to Comply with Demand (breath) – Bodily Harm
  • Fail to Stop at Accident Resulting in Bodily Harm
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order

He was held in custody and will appear for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Sunday, July 20, 2025.

76 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – A person was charged after police received a disturbance call at Spine Beach.

On July 18, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complainant about an older man who was intoxicated and making inappropriate comments to the lifeguards. When police arrived on scene, the man was located and arrested. 

Donald (Don) DAVIDSON, 76-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on September 11, 2025.

Thomas RENNER Was Arrested Again

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On July 17, 2025, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person during a traffic stop on Mississauga Avenue.

At approximately 2:25 a.m. police stopped the black car and recognized one of the passengers as being wanted. He was subsequently arrested and charged.

Thomas RENNER, 34-years-old, of Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • Failure to comply with Release Order – two counts
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on July 18, 2025.

MUHAMMAD & MUHAMMAD Charged

(BLIND RIVER, ON) – The East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged two drivers after numerous traffic complaints on Highway 17.  

On July 16, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the OPP received numerous complaints pertaining to a black sports car and a white sports car racing and driving dangerously. Both cars were stopped a short time later on Highway 17, Plumber Additional Township, and both drivers were charged accordingly.

Javed MUHAMMAD, 19-years-old, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, was charged with – Careless Driving.

Ali MUHAMMAD, 20-years-old, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, was charged with – Careless Driving.

Katrina STARR – Theft

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On July 18, 2025, police arrested person from a previous theft occurrence at convenient store on Hillside Drive South. 

On July 5, 2025, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was notified by employees of a theft. Police attended and viewed the video surveillance depicting a female stealing numerous food items and alcohol. The female was later identified and arrested. 

Katrina STARR, 21-years-old, of Elliot Lake, was charged with – Theft under $5000 – shoplifting.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on September 11, 2025.

ALERT: Body Found -Remain Vigilant

(BONFIELD, ON) – The North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a death in Bonfield. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity.

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, at approximately 6:45 a.m., officers were called to a residence on Trunk Road where one person was located deceased.

While the cause of death cannot yet be confirmed, the OPP is urging local residents to remain vigilant and report any recent or ongoing suspicious activity to police.

Residents of Bonfield can expect to see an increased police presence as officers continue the investigation.

This investigation is being conducted by the North Bay OPP, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance is also being provided by Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Response Team, OPP Aviation and Canine Unit.

John James COLQUHOUN Facing Numerous Charges

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – Police arrest man again after multiple separate occurrences reported.

On July 16, 2025, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called by a U-Haul depot stated a person did not pay his bill and failed to return the rented trailer. Police later located the trailer which was returned to the depot and the man was arrested and charged. 

On July 17, 2025, the same man attended a restaurant on Oakland Boulevard, had a meal, then departed the establishment without paying, and assaulted an employee. He then attended a gas station convenient store on Highway 108 and stole a pack of cigarettes. The man was later arrested and charged. 

On July 18, 2025, the same man attended a camp north of Elliot Lake on Highway 639. Complainants reported the man being high on drugs and threatening to kill them. When police arrived a short time after, the man was located riding an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) in the area. He was subsequently arrested once again.

John James COLQUHOUN, 66-years-old, of Elliot Lake, was charged with:

  • Theft over $5000
  • Food and lodging fraud
  • Assault
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – four counts
  • Mischief – obstructs, interrupts, or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property
  • Assault a peace officer
  • Careless driving
  • Fail to wear proper helmet
  • Abandoning material that is likely to become litter

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on July 19, 2025.
