WARD Arrested For Theft

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a third individual in relation to an ongoing shoplifting investigation.

On August 14, 2025, officers arrested and charged Paul Christopher WARD, 46 years old, of Essex, Ontario, with:

  • Theft Under $5,000 – two counts – contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code

The charges relate to incidents at two separate businesses on Hastings Street North in Bancroft on August 13, 2025.

The accused was released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on a future date.

19 Year Old Facing Impaired Charge

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident with an Impaired driving offence following a traffic stop in a “Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere” (R.I.D.E.) check on July 01, 2025, in the Municipality of Huron East. 

Just before 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 01, 2025, Huron County OPP officers spoke to a vehicle driver at an OPP RIDE check in the village of Walton, Huron East. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton where they underwent testing with an OPP Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer.

John RYAN, 19 years of age from Huron East has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs,

The accused was additionally charged with offences found in the Highway Traffic Act and Cannabis Control Act.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on August 18, 2025.

One Teen Dead, One Airlifted Hospital

(LAKESHORE, ON)- On Thursday August 14, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the Lakeshore Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Lakeshore Fire Rescue responded to a marine collision involving a single personal watercraft on Lake St Clair near Couture Beach in the Municipality of Lakeshore.

First responders arrived on scene and with the assistance of nearby residents, rescued 4 individuals from the lake.

A 17-year-old female from Essex County was transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased from their injuries.

A second female, 16 years of age was transported to hospital and then air lifted to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

Two more females, 15 and 17 years of age, were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team is assisting Essex County OPP Marine Unit and members from the Lakeshore OPP Detachment with the investigation.

Alexander PINTO Arrested After Riding Top Of Train

(GLENGARRY TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person for riding on the top of a moving train.

On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) OPP responded to a train stopped on the tracks between Dornie Road and County Road 30 in North Glengarry Township. 

As a result of the investigation, Alexander PINTO, 23 years-old, of Mississauga was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Mischief
  • Enter on land on which a line work is situated

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

John LAFLEUR Arrested Following Indecent Act #PervertAlert

(ESPANOLA, ON) – The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one individual following a report of an indecent act.

On Saturday, August 9, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., members of the Manitoulin OPP responded to a report of a person committing an indecent act at a park and beach area in the Sables-Spanish Rivers Township, where children and families were present. Police initiated an investigation and subsequently arrested the individual.

As a result, John LAFLEUR, 73-years-old from Sudbury, was charged with indecent act – public place.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on September 8, 2025.

Manubhai PATEL – Sexual Assault

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – Police arrested a man in Elliot Lake after a reported sexual assault.

On August 10, 2025, at approximately 11:15 a.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called regarding a sexual assault that occurred in a park area adjacent to Ste Camillus Crescent.

Earlier that morning, a person was approached by an older male with a cane, who offered the person money for sex. The male then proceeded to touch the person inappropriately before they ran away.   

Manubhai PATEL, 73-years-old, from Elliot Lake, was later arrested and charged with – Sexual Assault.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on October 9, 2025.

Jahvar THOMPSON Facing Numerous Charges

(Clarington, ON) – Officers Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Highway Safety Division (HSD) – Whitby Detachment are investigating a two-vehicle collision with a road maintenance vehicle and a passenger vehicle.

On Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 12:42 a.m., Whitby OPP were on scene of a police investigation on Highway 401 Eastbound near Bennett Rd. in the Municipality of Clarington. At this time the left shoulder and left lane were blocked by police and an unoccupied blocker truck protecting the scene.

A red sedan rear-ended the blocker truck that was blocking the left lane. No injuries were reported.

The lone male driver from the red sedan attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended quickly by police. During the investigation police located a firearm.

As a result of the investigation Jahvar THOMPSON a 35-year-old from Markham is charged with:

  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, section 86
  • Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner, section 86(1)
  • Carry concealed weapon, section 90
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, section 91(1)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm, section 91(1)
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm, section 92(1)
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm, section 94

Michael DINGMAN Was Arrested Again

(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT HILLS, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges against an individual following a report of a disturbance at a healthcare facility.

On August 11, 2025, at approximately 3:40 p.m., officers responded to a threats call at an address on Oliver Road, where a person was reportedly acting aggressively toward staff.

Upon arrival, police learned the individual had already left the scene. An investigation was initiated, and officers obtained a description of the suspect.

Later that evening, officers located the individual in the area of Front Street North and Bridge Street East where they were taken into custody.

As a result, Michael DINGMAN (59) of no fixed address, has been charged with:

  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Uttering threats to damage property
  • Failing to comply with a probation order

The accused was held for a bail hearing to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

Repeat Offenders Arrested Following Crime Spree

(ESSEX COUNTY, ON)- On Wednesday August 12, 2025, the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit arrested two individuals in relation to multiple investigations throughout Essex County.

Between May 15 and July 8, 2025, the accused were involved in a crime spree in Lakeshore, Tecumseh and Essex which affected 35 victims and caused over $10,000.00 in losses and damages. 

The charges are in relation to the theft of a pickup truck, entering several unlocked and locked vehicles and garages. Stealing cash, personal items, electronic devices and garage door openers and then purchasing items at retails stores with stolen debit and credit cards.

As a result, Brandon MONCRIEFF, 31 years of age of Amherstburg has been charged under the Criminal code with 93 charges, including:

  • Break and Enter a Place commit Indictable Offence (three counts)
  • Break and Enter Dwelling House commit Ind Offence
  • Theft Over $5,000 of a Motor Vehicle
  • Disguise with Intent (three counts)
  • Theft Under $5,000 from a Motor Vehicle (30 counts)
  • Mischief Under $5,000 (three counts)
  • Operation While Prohibited – Legal Restriction (eight counts)
  • Operation While Prohibited under the (four counts)
  • Use of Credit Card (22 counts)
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order (14 counts)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (four counts)

Jonathan POITRAS, 35 years of age of Windsor has been charged under the Criminal code with 81 charges, including:

  • Break and Enter a Place commit Indictable Offence (three counts)
  • Break and Enter Dwelling House commit Ind Offence
  • Theft over $5,000 of a Motor Vehicle
  • Disguise with Intent (two counts)
  • Use of Credit Card (29 counts)
  • Theft Under $5,000 from a Motor Vehicle (30 counts)
  • Mischief Under $5,000 (three counts)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (eight counts)
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order (four counts)

Both of the accused remain in custody and will appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor.

$240 Fine For 12 Year Old With No Seatbelt

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – A driver is facing a costly charge stemming from a traffic stop at a RIDE program.

On August 13, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Orangeville Road in Fergus.

During the initiative, a 45-year-old from Regina, Saskatchewan, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following offence after their 12-year-old child was found to not be wearing their seatbelt:

  • Drive while passenger under 16 fails to properly wear a seat belt

This charge is accompanied by a $240 fine.

The Wellington County OPP are urging drivers and passengers to buckle up. Wearing a seat belt is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect yourself from serious injury or death in the event of a collision.

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a person after calls for service in relation to stolen property.

On August 13, 2025, police were called to a residence on Poplar Road where the complainant reported that a known male entered their garage and stole numerous items sometime over night. Police also executed a search warrant for the male’s rental vehicle and seized additional stolen property and drugs.

John James COLQUHOUN, 66-years-old from Elliot Lake was charged with:

·      Possession or property obtained by crime under $5000 – seven counts

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Heroin

·      Possession of over 30g of dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on August 14, 2025.

Weapon & Drug Bust – BENNS & STEWART

(NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – As a result of an ongoing police investigation, members of the Nottawasaga Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), Central Region Tactical Response Unit (TRU), and Central Region Canine Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), have arrested and charged two individuals following the execution of a search warrant in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On August 14, 2025, shortly after 4:30 a.m., officers executed a search warrant related to a drug investigation at a residence on Beattie Avenue in Alliston. Police located and seized several items, including:

  • One .22 caliber single-shot rifle
  • One .22 caliber rifle
  • Two prohibited switchblades
  • One can of bear spray
  • One can of Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray
  • 45.7 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 51 unknown pills
  • 6,600 unmarked cigarettes
  • Three digital scales
  • One BB gun pistol
  • Two pellet guns/rifles
  • Three bullets in a loaded magazine
  • Two .30-30 caliber bullets
  • Two knives
  • $60.00 in Canadian currency
  • One bottle of BB pellets

As a result of the investigation:

Andrew BENNS, 43 years old, of New Tecumseth, was arrested and charged with:

  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition – Two counts

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm – Two counts
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition – Two counts

Gregory Haddock – Impaired Operation

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid impaired driving related charges against an individual from Ottawa after they struck a police cruiser.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on August 13, OPP members were conducting a traffic stop on St. Laurent Boulevard when the rear cruiser was struck by a vehicle. Officers suspected the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. A roadside breath test was conducted and the driver was brought back to Ottawa Detachment for further testing. The driver registered more than twice the legal limit.

As a result, Gregory Haddock, 45 years of age, has been charged with the following:

  • Adult operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Adult operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Driving motor vehicle while liquor readily available
  • Novice driver – B.A.C above zero

Haddock, who is a G2 driver, received an automatic 90-day driving suspension and had his vehicle impounded for seven days. Haddock is set to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa at a later date.

18 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested – BLACK

 (SOUTH-WEST OXFORD, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford Detachment detected an impaired driver while out on general patrol.

On August 12, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., members of Oxford OPP initiated a traffic stop while on general patrol on Plank Line.

As a result of the investigation, Dylen BLACK, an 18-year-old resident of Tillsonburg, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Dangerous Operation

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on September 23, 2025.

No amount of alcohol or drugs is safe to consume prior to operating a vehicle.

Ryan STEEL Arrested Following Hit & Runs

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – The Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one driver after multiple collisions were reported on Southwood Road in Gravenhurst.

On August 13, 2025, at 10:20 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers responded to reports of several motor vehicle collisions on Southwood Road in Gravenhurst. After striking several vehicles, the suspect vehicle did not stop and continued driving, fortunately there were no reported injuries.

Officers located the vehicle on Southwood Road near Muskoka Road 169 and subsequently arrested and charged 43-year-old Ryan STEELE of Gravenhurst with Operation while Impaired by Drug, Dangerous Operation and Fail to Remain. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on September 30, 2025 to answer to his charges.
