Mischief/ Cause Disturbance

A community outreach centre located on Bayfield Street contacted Police in regards to an intoxicated male trying to enter their facility. The male refused to leave and became quite belligerent. When Police arrived they located the male and found he had damaged the door to the facility. The 43 year old male was arrested for Mischief and Causing a Disturbance. He was held until sober and released to a future court date.

Drunk Driver

Date: Wednesday, May 14, 2014 – 11:35pm
An Officer on general patrol stopped a vehicle on Dunlop Street West. After having a brief conversation with the driver the Officer detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the drivers breath. The driver was administered a road side breathalyzer and blew a fail. The 27 year old male was arrested for over .80mg and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters to provide suitable samples of his breath for analysis. The male registered samples of .140 mg and .130 mg. The male was held until sober and released to a future court date.

Year End Parade for the Ottawa Police Venturers

(Ottawa) – This year, the Ottawa Police Venturers will be holding their Year End Parade on May 21st , 2014.

Ottawa Police Venturers is a vocational Scouts Canada program, proudly supported by the Ottawa Police Service, that provides youth between the ages of 14 and 18 with an opportunity to learn about policing and to support police and community initiatives. The Ottawa Police Venturers have been part of our community for 29 years.

The Ottawa Police Venturers’ Year End Parade is a great opportunity to learn more about the Venturers and what they do. Below are the details in relation to upcoming Parade:

Date: Wednesday, May 21st, 2014 from 7:00 pm-8:00 pm

Location: Ottawa Police Service 474 Elgin Street, (Gymnasium) Ottawa

Presenters/Speakers: Ottawa Police Service Chief Charles Bordeleau;

Ottawa Police Services Board Chair and City of Ottawa Councillor Eli El-Chantiry (TBD);

Representatives from Scouts Canada.

Because of limited space, the invitation is open only to members of the media. Media attending the event will be escorted from the front lobby by a Venturers Advisor to the gymnasium. Media should arrive no later than 6:50pm.

Off-duty Officer charged with Impaired driving

(Ottawa) An off-duty Ottawa Police Service member has been charged with impaired driving following a traffic stop on the 417 East off-ramp at St-Laurent Boulevard at approximately 2:00a.m. on May 7, 2014. The OPS received confirmation of the charges yesterday afternoon.

Constable Marie Josee Seguin, 30 years old, of Ottawa was charged by the RCMP with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) and Fail to provide Breath Sample contrary to section 254(5) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The officer was released on a Promise to Appear. The Ottawa Police Service Professional Standards Section has begun an investigation into this matter.

“I cannot speak to this specific matter as it is before the courts and it is important that we respect due process,” said Ottawa Police Chief Charles Bordeleau. “Members of the Ottawa Police Service work every day to improve safety on our roads. These types of allegations don’t reflect that daily effort or our collective values.”

All voices, soprano, alto, tenor and bass are welcome to attend. The ability to read music is an asset.

Thieves Steal Honda Engine

(HOWICK, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are investigating a recent theft of a Honda engine that was stolen from a locked shipping container on C Line Road in Howick Township.

The 13 horsepower, electric start engine was stolen sometime between 6:00 p.m. on May 12, 2014 and 8:00 a.m. on May 13, 2014. Those responsible forced entry into the container and proceeded to steal the engine. The engine is valued at $1300.

Driver Served With 3 Day Suspension

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A 42 year old male driver recently served a three day driver’s licence suspension following an early morning traffic stop on May 10, 2014. At 1:40 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers stopped the driver of a GMC Sierra pickup that was travelling on London Road in Port Albert.

Upon speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside test was completed and the driver registered a fail on the roadside screening test. He was arrested and transported to the Kincardine OPP Detachment for breath tests. He provided breath tests to a qualified intoxilizer technician and the results registered below the legal limit however within the warn range level. The 42 year old from North Huron was served with a three day driver’s licence suspension and his pickup was towed away from the scene.

Dirt Bikes & Accessories Stolen From Moncrieff Road

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are investigating a break, enter and theft to a trailer that took place sometime between 11:00 p.m. on May 10, 2014 and 7:00 a.m. on May 11, 2014. The thieves attended the Moncrieff Road property and proceeded to cut the padlocks off of a vehicle trailer parked on the property.

Those responsible stole numerous items from the trailer including:

A lime, green Kawasaki model KX 450F dirt bike valued at $6,000
A red and black 50 cc mini dirt bike, valued at $2,000
A flat black “Shoei” racing helmet
A black “Fox” brand helmet with red skulls
Two pair of brand new “Fox Instinct” dirt bike boots, size 12 in white and size 11 in black
An assortment of racing safety gear including a chest protector, gloves, googles and knee braces.
An Ipod Touch

The total value of the stolen goods is in excess of $10,000.

POLICE ASSAULTED

(NORWICH TOWNSHIP, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid several charges in relation to an incident which occurred in Norwich Township yesterday at approximately 5:18 p.m.

Police responded to a disturbance at a residence where a male was assaulted by a known male who then left the scene.

The male that left the scene was located by police and as a result of the investigation 49 year old Gary WHITE of was charged with the following:

Assault a Peace Officer ~ Criminal Code of Canada
Disarming a Peace Officer ~ Criminal Code of Canada
Escape Lawful Custody ~ Criminal Code of Canada
Assault ~ Criminal Code of Canada
Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine ~ Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The male was held in custody for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock.

FEMALE FACES PUBLIC MISCHIEF CHARGES

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment arrested a 24 year old female after police investigated an incident at a Head Street North, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Monday, April 21, 2014, at approximately 8:45 p.m., police were contacted and subsequently received a report of an attempted robbery. The Norfolk County Crime Unit commenced an investigation and through the course of investigation determined that the allegations were unfounded.

On Tuesday, May 13, 2014, the Norfolk County Crime Unit charged 24-year-old Carrie Leona BOGAERT with one count of Public Mischief contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

She is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charge.

OPP INVESTIGATE BREAK, ENTER AND ASSAULT

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment arrested a 20 year old male and a 20 year old female after police investigated an incident at a Wellington Street, Waterford, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, May 10, 2014 at approximately 11:13 a.m., police were contacted by a concerned citizen after observing a male and female attend a residence and gain entry. Once inside, unknowns proceeded to become involved in a verbal altercation with the residents which then escalated into a physical confrontation.

As a result of police investigation, a male and female were subsequently arrested.

Charged with break and enter, assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm is 20 year old Andrew LAMMEL-JOSEPH of Norfolk County, Ontario.

Charged with break and enter and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm is 20 year old Misty HILL of Norfolk County, Ontario.

Both will appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.

OPP INVESTIGATING BREAK AND ENTER

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating a Break and Enter at an Evergreen Hill, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Monday, May 12, 2014 in the early morning hours, unknowns attended the address and gained entry into the garage. Once inside, unknowns proceeded to remove a suitcase with various items of clothing. Unknowns then entered a vehicle located inside the garage and removed a wallet which contained a quantity of Canadian currency.

The Norfolk County OPP Detachment is continuing to investigate and is seeking assistance from the public. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

OPP INVESTIGATE THEFTS FROM VEHICLES

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is reminding the public to protect their property and valuables against would be thieves after several vehicle entries was reported at a Queensway West, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Sunday, May 11, 2014, in the early morning hours, unknown suspects entered four cement trucks located at Dufferin Concrete. Once inside, unknowns proceeded to remove (3) Motorola two way radios, (2) Omnex T100 wireless mixer control remotes, and a quantity of cleaning products.

The theftt is valued at approximately $5,000 dollars.
