(NAPANEE, ON) The Napanee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to report of a break, enter and theft to several out buildings and their vehicles tampered with in the 3000 block of County Rd 8, in Greater Napanee.

The break in and theft is believed to have occurred sometime overnight on the 13th of May 2014.

The following property was reported stolen:

– Chain Saw – Power Mac 55cc

– Chain Saw – Poulin Pro 46 cc

– Chain Saw – Pioneer Farm Saw 65 cc with 24 inch bar

– Chain Saw – Poulin 33 cc with 14 inch bar

– Battery from a 3 wheeler

– 2 genuine leather jackets – (no further description available at time of this release)

Unknown person(s) found the keys to blue Dodge Caravan and moved it from its original parking place and then returned it. The entire vehicle contents had been gone through and the rear seats were pushed forward. The centre console of the caravan with assorted change and a pair of gloves was taken as well.

Several other vehicles in the 3000 block of County Rd 8 were also reported to have been gone through.

OPP would also ask that citizens “Lock it or Lose it”. Locking your vehicle doors discourages theft of contents of your vehicle. Please don’t leave valuables (cell phones, electronics, wallets, purses, etc.) in the vehicle.

(NAPANEE, ON) The Napanee and Loyalist Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police have responded to several theft occurrences over the past few days.

Several homeowners in Amherstview, Greater Napanee and Stone Mills have reported their unlocked vehicles were entered and items were stolen.

Investigators believe that many more vehicles and garages were likely entered and encourage homeowners to check their property to ensure that they are not victims of theft. If you discover items stolen please contact police.

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – Canada Road Safety Week runs from May 13 – 19, 2014. The purpose of the campaign is to ramp up enforcement and raise awareness; addressing the importance of safe driver behavior in an effort to make Canada’s roads the safest in the world.

As in previous years, members of the Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue their efforts, through enforcement and public education, in targeting the “Big Four” major causes of death and injury on our roadways, specifically, impaired driving, aggressive driving, distracted driving and failure to wear or improper use of seatbelts.

On Thursday, May 15, 2014 at approximately 8:41 p.m. members of the Highway Safety Division Mount Forest Traffic Management Unit conducted a RIDE spot check on Grey Road 4 at the Artemesia/Glenelg Town Line, Priceville, in the Muncipality of Grey Highlands. A Toyota Echo vehicle had stopped and the driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. After failing the roadside breath test he was taken to the Markdale Detachment for further breath tests.

Daniel Vincent LEBLANC, 56, of West Grey, was charged with impaired-over 80 mgs as well as driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor under the Liquor Licence Act. He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on June 5, 2014.

On Thursday, May 15, 2014, at approximately 9:49 p.m., a Grey County OPP officer stopped a motorist on Hwy. 10 at Southgate Road 24 after the driver had made an unsafe turn. The driver was also found to be a suspended driver.

Amanda POST, 34, of Dundalk, was charged with making a turn not in safety and driving under suspension under the Highway Traffic Act.

On Thursday, May 15, 2014 at approximately 11:49 p.m., members of Grey County OPP conducted a RIDE spot check on Grey Road 31 at Grey Road 124, Singhampton, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands. A Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck had stopped and the driver was found to have been drinking.

Tyler David GARBUTT, 29, of Collingwood, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle; over 80 mgs as well as possession of marihuana – under 30 grams. He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on May 29, 2014.

(South Dundas) – On May 14th 2014, members of the OPP Cornwall Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) – Project Paradigm, the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), and S.D. &G. OPP members executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (C.D.S.A) warrant at a residence on Saving Street, Williamsburg ON.

Upon searching the residence, police seized a prohibited firearm, approximately 650g of cultivated Marihuana and 17 Marihuana plants.

The projected street value of the seized drugs is estimated at approximately $3,000.00.

Glen FROATS (48) and Kellie FROATS (41) were arrested and face charges of:

Produce a Schedule II substance – (cannabis marihuana) CDSA 7(1)

Poss. of a Schedule II substance for the purpose of Trafficking- under 3 kg, CDSA 5(2)

Glen FROATS and Kellie FROATS were both released on a Promise to Appear. They are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice of Ontario in Morrisburg, (ON) on June 3rd 2014.

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON)- On Thursday May 15, 2014 at 4:11 p.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a residential break and enter on the 3000 block of Gladstone Drive located in the Municipality of Thames Centre. Police have learned that suspects gained entry to the home through a side door of the residence and removed a quaintly of property valued at $400. An alert citizen contacted police advising that they observed a black Dodge Charger fleeing from the scene.

The suspect vehicle was located shortly thereafter travelling northbound on Wellington Road in the City of London. A traffic stop was completed by the OPP with the assistance of the London Police Service (LPS) at which time two parties were placed under arrest.

As a result of an investigation police have charged Oshana SARKES, age 21 of London, ON with Break & Enter a dwelling house – commit indictable offence as per Section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code. The accused party was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA) and is scheduled to appear in a London court room on June 26, 2014 to speak to the charges.

The investigation is on-going.

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Bracebridge detachment has charged a young male after he was found travelling 178 km/hour in a posted 100 km/hour zone.

On May 15, 2014 at 12:40 am a vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed Northbound on Highway 11 in Bracebridge. The vehicle was found by police to be travelling 178 km/hour in the posted 100 km/hour zone. The vehicle was stopped near Taylor Road on Highway 11. The male driver had his license seized and suspended for 7 days, and his vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.

The male will appear in Bracebridge court on June 24, 2014 to answer to his charge.

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – On May 16th, 2014 at approximately 12:50am Quinte West OPP responded to a domestic incident in Frankford.

When police arrived on scene they spoke to a female that told officers she had just been assaulted by her partner. Police conducted an investigation and a male was subsequently arrested.

The 51 year old male has been charged with Assault, Assault with a Weapon as well Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon. The male is being held for a bail hearing today at the Ontario Court of Justice 15 Bridge St West, Belleville.

The female party did not require medical attention.

(BEWDLEY, ON) – On Tuesday May 13, 2014 a Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received an anonymous complaint of fishermen keeping out of season fish at the public dock in Bewdley.

The OPP officers were on foot patrol at about 8:20 pm on Tuesday when they received the complaint of two male parties that were fishing and keeping the fish that were currently not in season. The fish were believed to be bass. The officers went to the public dock where they found three males fishing. Two of the three males were unable to produce a valid fishing licence.

Yuze LIU, age 33 and Jinming NING, age 31 both from Markham, Ontario were served provincial offences notices for fail to carry deemed licence when fishing under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act. This offence is a total payable $95 fine.

Northumberland County falls within in Zone 17 under the Recreational Fishing Regulations 2014 provide by the Ministry of Natural Resources. For this area, bass fishing season officially opens Wednesday June 3, 2014 through to Monday December 15, 2014.

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – The Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a 27 year old Sioux Lookout woman following an assault occurrence.

Shortly after 8:00pm on Thursday May 15, 2016, officers responded to assist a female victim who had allegedly been stabbed in the area of Front Street and Fourth Avenue.

The subsequent investigation revealed an altercation had occurred between two females, resulting in one sustaining injuries consistent with a stab wound. The 32 year old victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, 27 year old Ernestine HUDSON of Sioux Lookout has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm. HUDSON remains in custody and will appear in Sioux Lookout bail court on May 16, 2014.

The Sioux Lookout OPP believes there may be additional witnesses to this incident, given the fact it was daylight and in a high visibility area. If anyone has information about the occurrence, please contact the Sioux Lookout OPP at 807-737-2020.

(MOOSONEE, ON) – On May 12, 2014 at approximately 7:45 pm members of the Moosonee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter in progress at a business located on Mistik Boulevard. Officers arrived shortly after and found the interior of the business to be ransacked and heavily damaged. The company vehicles had also been damaged extensively. The owners directed officers into the bush line where the subjects fled.

The accused led officers on a chase through the bush until two of the three were located and arrested on Bay Road. The third accused turned himself in on the morning of May 13, 2014.

The three males, ages 17, 15 and 14 have been charged with the following offences:

– Break, enter a place and commit an indictable offence

– Mischief over $5000

The continuing investigation revealed that a fourth male was involved. On May 15, 2014 Gabriel FIREMAN (21) of Moosonee, ON was arrested and charged with the following offences:

– Break, enter a place and commit an indictable offence

– Mischief over $5000

– Fail to comply with probation order

– Uttering threats to cause bodily harm

The identities of the three youth accused will not be released as they are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. All accused were released on promises to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Moosonee on July 8, 2014.

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On Saturday, May 10, 2014 at approximately 11:37 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a physical altercation between two groups of people at the Westside Bowl located on Hwy. 6 & 21 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

A verbal argument over the use of a pool table erupted into a physical altercation causing non-life threatening injuries to three people.

The first group, consisting of 3 males ages 15, 20, 45, and two females, ages 19 and 45 remained at the scene while the second group, consisting of two males and one female left the area prior to police arrival. One of the males was described as having red hair.

(POWASSAN, ON) – On May 13, 2014, members of the Powassan Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call on Wilson Lake Road, Port Loring. Police were informed that three individuals had been sitting outside of a residence at approximately 5:50 p.m. when they heard a loud bang and two of the individuals were subsequently struck by unknown projectiles, which was later determined to be shotgun pellets. One of the victims sustained minor injuries to the head.

Rick BAIN, age 56 of Port Loring is charged of careless use of firearms section 86.1, of the criminal code of Canada.

The Powassan OPP want to remind people to practice safe firearm handling practices. Treat all guns as if they are loaded. Ensure that you safely carry your firearm. Never let your firearm “cover” anything you are not willing to destroy. Keep the safety on and finger off the trigger until you are actually going to fire. Be sure of your target and beyond. If you are not sure of either, do not fire and wait. You are responsible for the rounds you fire, so make sure of what is beyond your target and what your target is. There may be others in the forest close by.

(Bancroft, Ontario) – On Thursday the 15th of May 2014, the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received the report of a theft from a residence on Inlet Bay Road in the Municipality of Highlands East. Investigation revealed that sometime since Thursday May 08th a red and black BAHA mini dirt bike was stolen from the property.

(INGERSOLL, ON.) – On May 14, 2014, Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to break, enter and thefts to five local businesses. The businesses were located on King Street West and Thames Street South, and the thefts occurred sometime overnight.

Through investigation and with the assistance of the public, OPP have charged 40 year old Robert MAGVAS of no fixed address under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

The male was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock.

(INGERSOLL, ON) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an attempted break and enter to a residence on Henderson Court in Ingersoll, which occurred at approximately 12:02 a.m. on May 14, 2014.

Entry into the residence was not gained. OPP searched the area, and the suspect(s) were not located.

The OPP is asking residents to be vigilant for suspicious vehicles or persons that may be in your neighbourhoods. The public should try to get descriptions, licence plate numbers, direction of travel and report the information immediately to their local police service. It is important for this information to get to police when the suspects may still be in the area.
