67 Year Old Has Vehicle Impounded For Racing

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) - On May 10, 2019 at approximately 3:27 p.m., a member of the Grey-Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed while overtaking several vehicles southbound on Highway 6 south of Mar in South Bruce Peninsula. The vehicle, a Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up truck, was travelling at speeds in excess of 50 km/h over the posted 80 km/hr speed limit.
67-year old Neil BENOIT of Chesley was issued a Part III Summons for Race a Motor Vehicle - Excessive Speed under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on June 17, 2019.
His motor vehicle was impounded and his driver's licence was suspended for seven (7) days.
