YOUTH CHARGED FOR TAKING VEHICLE WITHOUT CONSENT

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On June 1, 2014, just before 2:00 p.m., a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling the area off Highway 401 on Victoria Road, when he came upon a young person putting fuel in a vehicle at a service station.

Subsequent OPP traffic investigation revealed that the 15 year old male driver from Niagara Falls, whose name cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, had taken the vehicle without consent.

He is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on July 7, 2014, to answer to the following charges:

Take Motor Vehicle Without Owner Consent, under the Criminal Code of Canada

Possession of Property Obtained By Crime Under $5,000, under the Criminal Code of Canada

Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
