YOUNG PERSON ARRESTED IN VALLEYWOOD

(CALEDON, ON) – On June 19, 2014, Street Crime Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation into the sale of drugs in the Valleywood subdivision. On June 24, 2014, officers attended the area of Cliffview Court and located three young persons on the footpath. Officers immediately detected a strong odour of drugs, believed to be marijuana and further observed as the young persons completed a transaction. Subsequently, the youths were detained and a search of one of the young persons uncovered a quantity of drugs, believed to be marijuana and $3,180.00 in cash.

As a result, a 17 year-old male from Caledon was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule II substance, Trafficking a Schedule II substance and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

The Young Person was held in custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice later today.

His name is not being released due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
