TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG AND OTHER CHARGES

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On June 12, 2014, just after 9:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge pickup truck, at Park Avenue and Lacroix Street in Chatham.

Subsequent OPP traffic investigation at roadside revealed that the driver’s licence was suspended and that he was operating the vehicle without insurance. Further investigation led to the seizure of a small amount of suspected Fentanyl.

As a result, the driver, 20 year old Matthew SETON, from Chatham, has been charged with the following:

Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Driving While Under Suspension (x2), contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance, under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The driver is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on July 17, 2014, to answer to the charges.
