(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – A local man faces a stunt driving charge after spinning his wheels when the traffic light turned green.
On May 26, 2014 an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was stopped at the intersection of Kent Street and Angeline Street for a red light. The officer was in an unmarked cruiser at the time. When the light turned green the officer observed as a vehicle initiated a quick start, intentionally losing traction on the roadway.
As a result of the officers observations the driver, Gary COARD, 41 years of age, was charged with stunt driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the accused had his driver’s licence suspended for 7 days.
The accused will appear in court, in Lindsay, on July 8, 2014.
