SUSPICIOUS RESIDENTIAL FIRE

(Cavan Monaghan Township, ON) – On Monday June 10, at approximately 11:40 a.m., members of the Peterborough County OPP, and Cavan Monaghan Fire Department were called to investigate a report of a structure fire at a residence on Centre Street in the Village of Millbrook.

Upon arriving at the residence emergency personnel found and active fire on different levels of the structure. No tenants or animals were present at the time of the fire.

Fire Fighters were able to quickly control and extinguish the fire ensuring no adjacent buildings were damaged.

Although no one was injured by the fire three firefighters needed medical attention due to heat exhaustion.

Police and Fire department investigators have deemed the fire to be suspicious in nature and the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called to conduct an investigation into the incident.

Investigators from the Peterborough County OPP crime unit and members of the Forensic Identification Services are involved in the investigation.
