STOP SIGN THEFT ENDANGERS LIVES

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating a theft at a 1st Concession Road ENR, Houghton, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Sunday, May 4, 2014 at approximately 8:18 p.m., police received a call from a concerned resident after noticing that unknowns removed a stop sign from the intersection of 1st Concession Road ENR and Fairground Road.

Street sign theft occurs when street signs are stolen, often to be used as decorations. Sometimes considered to be a prank, the theft is often costly and inconvenient. This is extremely dangerous to the motoring public and could have caused a serious or even fatal collision for anyone not familiar with the roadways in Norfolk County.

The police are seeking the public’s assistance with this investigation and are asking anyone that may have any information to contact the Norfolk County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
