SNOWMOBILE COLLISION LEADS TO CHARGES

(ATIKOKAN, ON) – Members of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have concluded their investigation into a snow machine collision that sent a 14 year old youth to hospital earlier last month.

On April 3, 2014, three Atikokan youths were riding on the Saturn Road Extension trail after school. Two of the riders collided at the junction of the Saturn Road Extension and the Sno-Ho snowmobile trail sending one youth to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center with a fractured leg.

Both youths involved in the collision were charged with careless driving under the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act (MSVA). Alcohol was not a factor.

Aggressive and unsafe driving can be reported to the OPP by calling 1-888-310-1122 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. To assist investigations of this type, pleased try and provide a licence plate number if you are able.
