(BRIGHTON, ON) – On Tuesday May 12, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant on a residence in the Municipality of Brighton where a stolen puppy from another OPP jurisdiction was located.
On Friday April 18, 2014 Caledon OPP investigated a break, enter and theft to a residence on Highway 9 in Caledon where a Chihuahua puppy was reported stolen from a breeder.
Northumberland OPP Crime Unit was contacted in early May as investigators in Caledon received information on a possible whereabouts of the dog. A Criminal Code search warrant was executed on a County Road 2 property where the 12 week old female puppy “April†was located. The Chihuahua is described as brown head with a white body and weighs about three pounds. Its identity has been confirmed and returned to its rightful owner.
Leona Joy BOTTING, 38 from Brighton, Ontario has been charged with one count each of the following Criminal Code offences:
Theft Under $5,000
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime -Under $5,000
Break and Enter with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence
Failing to Comply with Undertaking Given to an Officer in Charge
She was released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on Wednesday June 11, 2014 at 9:30 am.
