Robert McCleery – Drunk Driving

(NEW TECUMSEH, ON) – On Sunday May 11, 2014 at 8:22 pm Nottawasaga OPP were conducting moving radar enforcement on King’s Highway 89 westbound at Simcoe County Road 56 in Town of New Tecumseh. Police clocked a westbound black 2008 Honda Civic travelling 142 kilometres per hour in an 80 kilometre zone. As a result, the officers activated their emergency equipment and intercepted the motor vehicle at intersection of Highway 89 and Simcoe County Road 10. Upon speaking with the driver, the officers detected a strong odour of alcohol on the his breath At 8:30 pm the male driver failed a road-side screening test for alcohol was arrested and transported to Nottawasaga OPP detachment for Intoxilizer tests.

Once the investigation was concluded, Robert McCleery, 59, of City of Barrie was charged with Operate Motor Vehicle over 80 mgs of alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was further charged with Race Motor Vehicle contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie, Ontario on June 12, 2014.
