(CALEDON, ON) – On April 30, 2014 shortly after 9:15 pm, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were patrolling in the area of Olde Base Line Road and Torbram Road when they came across a motor vehicle collision. The officers located a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee in the field on the north edge of Base Line Road and observed as the driver operated the vehicle in the field. The officers approached the driver and immediately detected a strong odour of alcohol on his breath and he displayed other signs of impairment by alcohol.
Subsequently, the driver was read the roadside screening breath demand. The driver’s breath reading registered a fail and he was transported to Detachment for further testing.
In conclusion, Robert J. MALLEN, 57, of Caledon was arrested and charged with Care or Control Over 80 mgs.
The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on May 15, 2014.
