OVER 30 GRAMS OF MARIHUANA SEIZED FROM R.I.D.E. CHECK

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On May 20, 2014 members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. at McDougall Road and Highway 400 in McDougall Township. At approximately 12:08 a.m. an officer had occasion to speak to the occupants of a 4-door car to which discharged a strong odour of Marihuana. Police investigation and a search of the vehicle led to releasing both passengers and charging the driver under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Joseph FAMULA, 22 years of age from St Catherine’s was charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana over 30 grams. He was also charged with Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle and Fail to Surrender Insurance Card. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice Parry Sound on June 19, 2014.
