OPP TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN CHARGES FOR DRIVER

(STRATHROY-CARADOC TWP, ON) – On June 7, 2014 at approximately 9:00 a.m. Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle travelling on Highway 402 in the Strathroy-Caradoc Township. When police asked for identification, the driver was unable to produce a valid driver’s licence. Police discovered the driver was disqualified from driving from a previous Criminal Code conviction. Further investigation also revealed the driver was in possession of marijuana.

James SKELHORN, age 41 of Cannington, ON was charged with one count of Drive While Disqualified, contrary to Section 259(4) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) and one count of Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marijuana Under 30 grams, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

The vehicle was impounded for 45 days

The accused was released by way of a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in a London courtroom August 8, 2014 to speak to the charges.
