(THUNDER BAY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Professional Standards Bureau (PSB) has charged an OPP officer with several criminal offences as a result of an investigation that was commenced on April 14, 2014. The alleged offences occurred between October 2012 and March 2014.
As a result of the investigation Detective Constable Rory THOMPSON, a ten year member of the OPP currently assigned to the Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau -Deployed Field Unit in Thunder Bay was arrested on May 27, 2014 and charged with;
Theft under $5,000 (eight counts) and
Fraud under $5,000 (one count)
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and has been suspended with pay as per the requirements of the Police Services Act; however, the investigation is still ongoing.
He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on July 11, 2014.
