OPP ARREST THREE FOR DOMESTIC RELATED OFFENCES

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – On Wednesday May 21, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report at the Cobourg detachment at approximately 4:17 pm from a female reporting mischief to her vehicle.

The OPP officer who spoke with the female was advised that at approximately 4:30 am on Wednesday, she and her common-law spouse had an argument about terminating the relationship. The male left the Alderville First Nation Territory residence. When the 23 year old victim went outside, she found a liquid substance all over her 2004 Ford Escape that was later determined to be motor oil. OPP later arrested the 21 year old male for mischief and he was released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on Wednesday June 18, 2014 at 9:30 am.

At about 1:19 am on Thursday May 22, 2014 Northumberland OPP attended to a report of an assault in the Castleton area of Cramahe Township. A 47 year old female had called police to report that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend. OPP arrived and were told that both parties had been assaulted by each other and both showed visible injuries. Both were taken into custody. After OPP further investigated these assaults, a 40 year male was held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on Thursday May 22, 2014 at 1:30 pm and the female was released unconditionally.

Both accused cannot be named in order to protect the identity of the victims.
