OPP ARREST THREE DRIVERS FOR IMPAIRED OPERATION OVER THE LONG WEEKEND

(ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS, ON) The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were patrolling the streets this Victoria Day long weekend and conducting R.I.D.E. programs (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere). OPP officers arrested 3 separate drivers for impaired operation.

On Saturday May 17, 2014 at approximately 12:00 a.m. officers were conducting R.I.D.E on Highway 11 northbound near Station Road, Perry Township. Officers observed a newer Dodge Challenger approach the R.I.D.E. program and subsequently after talking to the driver, arrested him for having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The driver was also found to be in possession of marihuana.

The driver, David MONKS 39, of Cambridge Ontario was charged with care or control of a motor vehicle, contrary to the Criminal Code and possession of a substance, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge, Ontario on Thursday, June 26, 2014.

Again, on May 17, 2014, OPP was patrolling Highway 124 in Magnetawan Township at approximately 5:30 p.m. OPP stopped a vehicle, a Chevrolet pickup truck and after speaking to the driver, arrested the accused for having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood.

OPP charged Robert LOGOZZO, 38 of Brampton with having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood, contrary to the Criminal Code.

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge, Ontario on Thursday, June 12, 2014.

A third driver was arrested on Sunday May 18, 2014 at approximately 8:15 p.m., for exceeding the legal limit. OPP officers were conduction a R.I.D.E. program on Highway 592 and Highway 518 in Parry Township when a grey Nissan Altima approached the R.I.D.E. check. Officers spoke to the driver and subsequently arrested him for having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood.

The driver, Joshua WLOSHINSKY, 26 of Markham, Ontario was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood, contrary to the Criminal Code. The driver was also charged with several Highway Traffic Act offences and Liquor Licence Act offence.

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge, Ontario on Thursday, June 26, 2014.
