(Hawkesbury, ON) – In the early morning of Monday June 2nd, shortly after midnight, Hawkesbury OPP Constable Jonathan Lacelle intercepted a 2012 Kia Sedona for failing to stop at the traffic lights at the John and Main Street intersection.
The traffic stop gave the officer reason to believe that the driver had consumed alcohol and that his blood alcohol concentration was above the permitted limit. The driver was consequently arrested for driving while having blood alcohol content above 80 mgs per 100ml of blood.
The investigation revealed that the driver was suspended from driving and that the plates did not belong to the stopped vehicle. Open available liquor was found available to both the driver and passenger. Both driver and passenger were found to be breaching court conditions.
Consequently, the driver Mathieu ROBITAILLE (21 yrs) of Grenville, QC was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections:
– 253(1)(b) Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood.
– 145(3) Fail to Comply with Recognizance (3 counts)
– 733.1(1) Fail to Comply with Probation Order (2 counts)
– 259(4) Driving while Disqualified
He was also charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with section 4(1) Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams
He was also charged under the Ontario Liquor Licence Act with section 32(1) Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.
He was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for failing to stop at the red light and for using unauthorized plates.
The passenger, Dany MARCEAU (24 yrs) of St-André d’Argenteuil, QC was charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with section 4(1) Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams.
He was also charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with section 145(3) Fail to Comply with Recognizance (2 counts)
They are both scheduled to appear in court on June 18 in L’Orignal.
