IMPAIRED DRIVER CHARGED IN STOLEN VEHICLE

(ATIKOKAN, ON) – Shortly before 7:30 pm on April 15, 2014 members of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle travelling on Highway 11 in the area of Seine River First Nation.

Initially the suspect vehicle attempted to flee from the officer conducting the investigation but quickly became stuck in the mud on a side road.

An investigation at the scene revealed that the driver was impaired and the vehicle was stolen.

Danielle Big George a 19 year old female from Big Grassy First Nation has been charged criminally with:

Care and control of a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams (mg) of alcohol in 100 milliliters(ml) of blood; and
Occupant of vehicle taken without consent.

She has also been charged under Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act with:

Speeding;
Fail to stop for police;
Drive motor vehicle – no licence; and

Under Ontario’s Liquor Licence Act with:

Having care and control of a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.

The passenger Kyle Kasper a 26 year old male from Kenora has been charged criminally with:

Take motor vehicle without consent.

Both Kyle Kasper and Danielle Big George are scheduled to appear in Fort Frances Provincial Court on May 29, 2014 at 9:30 am to answer to the criminal charges.
