(BEWDLEY, ON) – On Tuesday May 13, 2014 a Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received an anonymous complaint of fishermen keeping out of season fish at the public dock in Bewdley.
The OPP officers were on foot patrol at about 8:20 pm on Tuesday when they received the complaint of two male parties that were fishing and keeping the fish that were currently not in season. The fish were believed to be bass. The officers went to the public dock where they found three males fishing. Two of the three males were unable to produce a valid fishing licence.
Yuze LIU, age 33 and Jinming NING, age 31 both from Markham, Ontario were served provincial offences notices for fail to carry deemed licence when fishing under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act. This offence is a total payable $95 fine.
Northumberland County falls within in Zone 17 under the Recreational Fishing Regulations 2014 provide by the Ministry of Natural Resources. For this area, bass fishing season officially opens Wednesday June 3, 2014 through to Monday December 15, 2014.
