Fire – Unconscious Occupant Removed By Police

On June 29, 2014, shortly after 02:00 am the Owen Sound Police Service located a residential apartment duplex in the 400 block of 8th Street East Owen Sound, Ontario with an active fire alarm.

Further inspection revealed that the unit was filled with heavy smoke. Officers on the scene could observe a female occupant passed out on the kitchen floor in the vicinity of the fire hazard. Entry was forced and the female occupant was removed from the residence. A fire hazard on the kitchen stove was the source of the fire and was removed to prevent further fire damage to the building. The Owen Sound Fire and Emergency Services attended the scene to assist in ventilating the residence. The residence suffered smoke damage only. The female occupant declined medical attention. The incident was the result of inattention and the over consumption of alcohol by the female occupant.
