DOG ATTACK SENDS TWO PEOPLE TO HOSPITAL

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at approximately 12:38 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of two victims requiring medical attention after they had been attacked by their dog. The incident occurred on Centre Line A in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

The 64 year old female victim was walking towards her vehicle when she was suddenly knocked down and viciously attacked by her dog, a 4 year old male, Pit Bull/Terrier cross dog. The victim’s 90 year old father, who was sitting inside the vehicle at the time, went to his daughter’s aid at which time he, too, was attacked by the dog.

The female victim suffered serious multiple bites to her arms and face. She was air lifted to a London Hospital. The male victim suffered a serious bite to his forearm and was transported by Grey County Emergency Services (EMS) to a hospital in Markdale where he was treated and released.

Police, with the assistance of the Grey Highlands Animal Control Officer, attempted to secure the dog who continued to be extremely aggressive at the scene. The dog was dispatched by police for public safety.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit was notified.
