BREAK AND ENTER IN LAKESIDE

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have received two complaints of break and enters in the last two weeks where suspects entered homes while occupants were sleeping.

On Monday May 19, 2014 police received a report that an unknown suspect had entered a residence in the Lakeside area of Kenora around 4:30 am. One of the occupants woke up and saw the suspect in the residence. The suspect fled the scene upon waking the occupant.

The suspect is described as a male youth, First Nations, approximately 6 feet tall, with a thin build wearing a grey hoodie and blue jeans. Nothing was taken from the residence.

As a result of a media release on May 20, 2014 about the Lakeside incident, OPP received another complaint of a similar incident on May 16, 2014. Police were advised that an unknown suspect entered a home in the South Park Subdivision around 4:00 am. The occupant woke and saw the suspect in the residence. The suspect fled the scene.

The suspect in this incident is described as a male with a large build, with blue jeans rolled up to his knees, a red hoodie and a baseball cap.

It is unknown if the incidents are related but the OPP would like to remind homeowners to be aware of personal and home safety.

The investigation is continuing. The OPP will be canvassing residents in the South Park and Lakeside areas in the next few days.
